Yup, first log vape. I've tried them before, but never my own. Can't wait! Also ordered a GonG!
Duuuuude, you're going to be in heaven. It's so splendid having your own. My friend had one and I had the MFLB with a custom adapter setup that was awesome! and I still ended up buying Nancy. So nice coming back to my room and just seeing her on my desk, already turned on, waiting for me to take her for a spin ;). She likes to be turned on.

Are there different sizes of basket screens from epic vape? Im having a hard time understanding why, Im having a hard time fitting the basket screens I ordered from epic in my 14mm gong. In the 18mm gong it slides right in, but with the 14 mm gong I have to work it in, by the time I put it in the right place, it has already been bent out of shape. Is there a trick to this?

Basket screens can be deformed so they fit one glass better than others. But it's important to remember working with glass is not an exact science - tolerances can be good, but not perfect. There will be a slight variation in diameters from stem to stem (we're talking 1 or 2 hairs thickness difference, but it's enough) due to the expansion/contraction of the glass during the manufacturing process.

That's why it's best to have backup screens in case one doesn't fit the glass stem you're using.

Speaking of basket screens....

I *was* working on a 3D printed basket screen press (@SSVUN~YAH), Made several different prototypes... even perfected the design - easily popping out perfect sized basket screens. *except* for one fatal flaw: Forming the baskets creates too much friction on the plastic. Every basket screen I've made so far has bits of toxic plastic stuck in the mesh - This was unacceptable to me (I'm sure nobody want's toxic plastic vapors mixed with with their herbs!). :bang:

I'm still on the lookout for a high-strength material, but it looks like my only option currently will be 3D printed steel (very expensive, but so fucking worth it). Hopefully I can keep the costs low enough to share this basket press design with everyone in the near future

First the flavor, then the buZzz settles in....
my sessions usually last about an hour, a good hit from my bubbler every 15 minutes for 4 times. I usually vape at 6.5....I like to fly high like a kite and I also like thick vapor.

I wanted to know if it is advisable to leave it a lower temP. Lets say somewhere between 5.5 -6.0 and just let the nano sit on the gong and herb for entire session which is one hour, only removing it to clear the piece.

I am asking this because lately my high has not been consistent, even though I throw in the same exact variables all the time. sometimes I dont change the temp and I will get really thick vapors but not as high, sometimes the opposite. I also noticed that letting the nano sit on the gong other than quick heatsoak takes some of the flavor away, which is a bummer and I find that the herb gets cashed faster, though there is not always air flowing through. So I was wondering if letting the nano sit on the gong at lower temps for the whole session had some merit to it.

..... I noticed, for the first time the other night, some lung irritation. It hits harder than my portable. I've taken note.

Yeah.... you'll have that. Especially when the vapor's so good you can't resist another hit! Probably many things that can help some. A few of my personal favorites are:
  • Get a cheap bubbler from China. A little moisture really makes it gentler on your throat. You'll also need a GonG adapter if you don't have one. Warmer water in bubbler helps irritation a good bit.
  • Turn the heat down some and get the load closer if you have room with each. If you have your load deeper in the stem/GonG, and compensate with higher heat, it tends to be harsher. Not real figures, but as an example.... Having your screen at 15mm depth with heat at 7 would feel harsher to me than 10mm depth with heat at 6.5, but both could have close to exact same vapor production.
  • Maybe even "lighten" your vapor a little by roasting a little less using screen depth and temp. If going for a deep buzz, I sometimes do this on first couple loads, then kick it up.
  • Keep a glass of ice water close and follow each hit with a healthy sip.
  • A cup of hot tea can help, too. Do this when my sinuses and throat are acting up, and often breath in a little warm air from right over the cup.
  • Mixed results with this, but find a courser grind or material I don't hyper-dry, is often a little less harsh. I keep my stash at about 62% RH with Boveda packs, but usually dry a bit before grinding (probably a good bit less than 50% RH). If I pull it and grind without drying, the vapor usually isn't as harsh depending on strain. Also, doesn't vape as quickly.

Thanks, friend! :D

Always glad to help! Let us know how you like your nano!

I've been finding that about a 5.5-5.75 is working the best for me right now. @al bundy , when you say you leave it on 4.5 all the time, do you mean when you aren't using it or even when vaporizing?

I've tried like a 5 (maybe a little lower too) but I always feel like the hits aren't quite there. Granted, I am working with a bed stem.

I'm also finding out how important a pre heat soak is, otherwise half of my hits were cold air and not very much vapor.

I really do love how this little baby just molds itself to be used however it's owner sees fit, even if their decisions are subconscious ones.

Many people leave their nano on all the time. I try to remember to turn mine down at the end of the night - but honestly usually forget so it mostly hangs out around 6.5 24/7. So far, so good, and nice to have her at the ready for an occasional load whenever I'm in the mood.

Your situation is a little different with that screwy stem. Have to think your heating is pretty off without the heating element seated inside. Think you'll enjoy it that much more once you get your new one. Temps and heatsoaks are bound to change quite a bit, too.

Just ordered a Walnut e-Nano!! So excited, can't wait.

Congrats! Think you'll be glad you did!

Nope. Screens are all the same size or very close - as is the nano end on all glass. As @Ratchett said, slight size differences and bent screens can be troublesome. They can be tweaked, squeezed and stretched to help with this. One thing that may help is to load the screen from the other end and push it all the way through to where you need it. When on a GonG, be careful in the middle part because there is usually enough space for them to get sideways, and it can really tear them up if you keep pushing to where it narrows again! IME a pencil, or other tool almost as wide as inside of screen basket, is best for this because it is easier to keep the screen aligned. If you can't get all the way through from the bottom, sometimes putting it in the nano end "upside down" (flat part in first) will help get it to the size and shape you need. Then pop it back out and should be a little easier to insert open end first.

That's an interesting one. Think my buzzes are not always consistent because of MY variables, regardless of the nano's. But, that's been the same for decades. :brow:

I've found the same with extended heatsoaks, and usually only do them for 10 - 15 seconds on first load to warm the glass a little. So, not sure but would love to hear results if you're playing with it.

Also think it can be kind of hard to have the exact same variables from session to session. The nano is uber-versatile, which is great! But, the trade off is that since it is, it seems the smallest of things can effect vapor production. Ambient temp, air moving around in the room (from a fan or A/C), small electricity fluctuations, etc. can help or hurt. Nothing wrong with small adjustments to the nano or the load to compensate if you can figure it out. When my vapor gets thinner, the first thing I do is see if I can nudge the screen a little closer. It doesn't have to move far to have an effect. And, they do get nudged around a little from time to time in use. If this doesn't do it, I give the dial a small bump and wait a couple minutes for temp to move. Drying your material out can sometimes help too - especially if it's been humid or rainy lately. I just fold mine up in a piece of paper and put it on the cable box for 1/2 hour - hour.

That kind of sucks! But, makes perfect sense. Know you'll figure something out!

BTW... kind of torn whether to thank you or curse you for the Scoop-N-Stir. It is a stellar nano tool and I do LOVE it!! My poor e-pik spends most of its time in its holding spot now. Why would I curse you, then? I feel like I need at least one more! I'm so afraid I'll lose it that I leave it at the home vape station, and miss it terribly when I'm elsewhere. And, scared it will find its way to the black hole that lives in my sofa. Even modified my Kind ashtray accessory rack so it has a nice home that will hopefully prevent this.

Thanks again!! This thing is the SHIT!

Yeah!! That's my favorite part of the nano is having it at the ready 24/7! I keep mine around 5.5 - 6 all day too and at night turn it down to about a 2.5. (which probably, I just as well should turn it off)

I can't wait to get the new stem and realllllly start fine tuning this thing! It's just so much fun and makes the vaping "session" just that much more enjoyable.

It came! It came. So I actually got my E-Nano from a third party who also packed the two Adjustabowl GonGs and both the fixed and non-fixed dry stems, but no e-pik! I'm going to order one from EV (it'd be great if the aromatherapy bowl was also in stock HMM HMM) but in the meantime I got one of those 3-in-1 smoking tools I can use. I also have a little bong that I'm not sure is actually compatible with either GonGs, ha ha, so, I'm going by the seat of my pants pretty hard here.

So, I work out a little solution with my bong so the GonG becomes more of a S(ilicon)onG. And I've had my Nano set to 7.5 for 20 minutes and then back to 6.5 for usage and I try it out and I DEFINITELY get vapor OH WOW, two hits, and I'm wondering the whole time "huh am I doing this right? am I doing ths might anr gfdoinggf". So, I'm at like a 5 after just that, and I check the condition of my ABV and I'm expecting it to be at best chestnut and at worst combusted because I'm pretttyyy fuzzy but nope. Not even golden brown, just golden.

So I've been experimenting with that and the dry stem and stuff and I don't think I've really found my sweet spot yet and I got that bubbler coming anyway so I mean I hate to say this but I think it just means a lot more experimentation and usage of this thing and getting to know it. Just days and days across this summer where I don't have anything else going on or any greater responsibilities than lazily learning a programming language. It's going to be terrible; tell my mother I love her.

edit: by "vapor OH WOW" I definitely don't mean that I was milkin' like cwheezy, but it was enough to have my immediate reaction be "YUP, this is NOT my PAX"

No reason
Hahaha

No, but I think it's the same concept as "back in the day" when they would say that turning a computer on and off throughly the day, every day, was worse for it than leaving it on.

I'm not sure if that turned out true or not or if it still is, but it always made sense to me. The constant heating and cooling of those boards vs a somewhat constant temperature I would think would take a toll on it. The same for the nano I would guess.

 But honestly, I could be talking outta my own goddamn ass right now.

It depends on how quickly heat is gained or lost.

..does anyone have any other recommendations for resources for a new log user? The only vape experience I've had is with my (probably former) daily flyer PAX1. I hear going from a PAX to one of these logs (E-Nano in particular) is like going from a Pinto to a Charger, so I can't wait I can't wait I can't wait eeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!

I have both the Pax and the Nano. I'm a tobacco addict, hence the Pax. I've used cannabis in the Pax a lot (think playing pool in a pub and loading half flower and half tobacco). It works, but I can't tell the strain. In the Nano, I can not only tell the strain, I can tell if it is older pre-shredded, freshly ground, flavor profile, etc.. I've done this comparison with a clean Pax and just flower loaded, and for me the Pax didn't even show up for the game.

Convection versus conduction. The Pax is great for tobacco, the Nano? I'd never put that shit near her epic cleanliness.

So that said, I can't offer you resources but I can offer you my experience: get a bubbler. There are many great cost effective pieces (>$50USD) over in the China Glass Thread if you don't already have one. The Nano on glass and water is like nothing I have experienced in my combustion days. You can go subtle, or you can go lung busting, but both retain the flavor. Low diffusion is your friend.

I wanted to know if it is advisable to leave it a lower temP. Lets say somewhere between 5.5 -6.0 and just let the nano sit on the gong and herb for entire session which is one hour, only removing it to clear the piece.

I've done it for over an hour by mistake at 6.7ish. Freaked me out, immediately hit it and pulled it from the GonG and was surprised to see no drama. The hit was definitely harsh and the material was darker, but I'm still here. *I am a random guy on the interwebs, experiment in a controlled environment.

I'm not sure if that turned out true or not or if it still is, but it always made sense to me. The constant heating and cooling of those boards vs a somewhat constant temperature I would think would take a toll on it. The same for the nano I would guess.

I personally turn mine off after the evening's usage, so say 4-5 hours on vaping temp a day. I wouldn't do the same with a desktop computer. It's all about variables. A computer has billions, the Nano about a dozen. Also some laws on thermodynamics that I can't seem to quote, but I vaguely remember.

The cool thing about the V2 Nano is that its weakest link, the part that gets the only mechanical action, is user replaceable. Not trying to knock the Pax, I love mine for tobacco, but I've RMA'd 3 of those fuckers (with a 4th next week (yea 10 year warranty)) in less than a year and a half.

I'm stunned.

As you guys may know, I ordered a nano last night, but what I didn't say was I couldn't quite get the price down to what I was expecting. But hey, I thought, definitely worth the price!

Well I just got an email from Nadia saying they fixed everything at no cost! Actually, reduced the cost for me! Wow! Just thank you. It's not even about the money at this point, because you stand up to your word. When you're disabled or poor every little bit can make or break your month.

Thank you.

Hit me up a pm bud, I'm pretty sure I have an unused e-pic around here you can have. Gratis! Welcome to Nano Nation, it's a great place to be!!!

I feel like people that leave theirs on all the time are reducing the life expectancy of the product. Granted, the lifetime warranty is great, but I still don't want to waste the life of it.
I leave mine on 24/7 and it's always ready when I am!

If I burn it up I'll get a other one.

Girl Scout Cookies is so good in a NANO!

The NANO is cheap and better than most vaporizers!

This is a tiny bit off topic, but which strains do you guys prefer for your nano? Top all time favs.

My personal favorite strains are kush and diesels, like sour diesel or Ogre Kush. Can't wait to get back into flowers again, because I have had to switch to vaping wax/oil without my herb vape. Just don't like the taste of all that plant matter anymore.

I was at least 5 qrams per week shatter before I got back into flowers (kolas).

Now cannabis is the best!

That's why I use a NANO!

STRAINS:

I'm the worse person to ask?

I lovè: Girl Scout Cookies, DEATHSTAR OG, SKYWALKER OG, DURBAN POISON, ANIMAL COOKIES,
JACK FROST, MAUI WOWIE, DUTCH TREAT, Snoop Doggy purple KUSH, BLACKWATER, GDP, CATUS COÒLÈr !

Don't forget PARIS OG! Flavor/EFFECT

Those all sound delicious. Do you get them tested? My brother and I are starting up a mobile testing operation. I almost never believe the names of any strains. I trust growers, but only through experience, never from claim.

How do we know a Bubba Kush is a Bubba Kush?

Oh, also, this makes me feel very hopeful of my future with my nano. I am right about 5 grams every week or two, if I can stretch it. Can't wait to get back to getting the full effect again!
