The Extreme-Q Vaporizer

Well for one thing, I have seen tests done which have shown ammonia in water after vaping. So that's a nice thing to be able to filter out, even if the amount removed is partial, it's still possibly technically worthwhile.
Where I am, all bud is illegal and thus the quality control is far from great.
Toking through water makes a definite difference, and I wouldn't say it has too much affect on potency from what I can tell. Even pieces with very effective diffusion, it still seems to give similar hits to the same bongs without water, just a lot smoother.

Plus you can add warm water, which makes it even smoother again. It's like the Vicks Inhaler of your dreams :science:

The EQ is pretty much the MFLB of desktop vapes, there's a knack to it.

If you want big cones;
finely grind herb
tightly pack it so it constricts airflow (3rd party attachments will help achieve this, be creative)
wait for machine to preheat completely before using, it may pay to wait a little while for the glass elbow to heat up a bit once the device is loaded too, say 0.5-3 minuts but I tend to just toke away
drag slowly at first but continuously at an even rate
it is crucial to hold an even inhale rate
after the glass has whitewalled inhale as you please, preferably like mad until you start seeing stars
enjoy the next few hours

This should work at most heat levels, the best temp level will depend on your cannabis.
If you're lucky enough to have A-grade dank nugs, lower temps like 180C will probably vape up sufficiently, for shittier grades you might want to go right up to 235C to get reasonable effectivity. At these levels things can start getting charred, so try and adjust accordingly.

This thing pumps out high quality vapour, and although it's not going to get a volcano density and volume, it still performs exceedingly well for half the price. And that's with a bong, instead of a bag. Bags are great, but I don't feel like it is an every day thing for me. Having shiny, fresh glass on the constant is an every day thing for me and it's awesome. It's what I used to wish for as a combuster :p
Like u I love glass!

I just had a very tasty session with the Q!

Wow I have too many vaporizers already!

This thing kicked my shiney metal ass!

The step I was missing was warm up time?

Plus I added I screen to the elbow.

For the $$ it's a very good deal!

First and best explanation for water filtration I've read so far. TX! :tup:Very informative! And you've piqued my interest into the whole matter of what is being filtered out. Ammonia hunh? Curiously, How did you determine that? Well I guess I'll have to re-visit that subject again. Looks like that glass inkwell I own, might be suitable for extracting/extruding anything heavy in the vapor path. So any more details about the "byproduct" made when filtering would be more of an eye opener for me.

Agree with you on the second point. Although, I beleive that the EQ provides a number of choices for temperature, fan speeds, packing, parts compatibility and preheating to allow for a wide range of possible outcomes/results. It is more of a narrowing down and trial and error process to get the desired results. And part of the fun. :science: Your "patient coaxing" method of drawing out the vapor until you see the white works well, even if you only see it go white briefly. You'll just be getting more of that tasty invisible vapor.:2c:

@ataxian when I first got my EQ I would watch the temp fly up to your desired temp. However it takes a good 20-30 min. for my unit to really get up and running. Once I'm at my desired temps I can get HUGE clouds at extremely low temps. As low as 335f! I'm glad to hear it's starting to go a bit better for you. The eq has worked so good for me I haven't looked to replace it yet. I've bought 7 portables (still looking for MY perfect fit) but I only own this 1 desk top.

I just repeated another GSC session!

That makes 2 in a roll!

Now I'll start lowering temperatures!

All g. Cheers
Well awhile ago I stumbled upon this, and I have read about it in other health studies to do with vaporisation, one stated (written as best as I can recall) that medicinal grade MJ left 3-4 (units) while street sourced plant scored an 8-9 average when testing raw vapour for ammonia. It would be hard to find the quote, but regardless it could be assumed that marijuana not grown and treated in a sterile environment is less polluted than one that is grown without any regulation.
Basically I have come to agree with any info I find that says ammonia is present during the process of vaporising cannabis.
Do share if you come across any interesting findings :)
___________

Yeah, the EQ can do it all. It can even become portable, as there is a battery pack available for it! Such value, much wow.
I'm very glad I have one, and more importantly that I've figured out how to make it work for me. I found it impossible to convert to vaporising when I first got the EQ because I used to smoke bongs frequently. But now I can replicate that experience, I'm finding it so much more enjoyable.
And as this device is so adaptable, it could pretty much replace any smoking method.

EDIT: I'm pretty stoned as I've just ate a heap of delicious AVB cookies (2 being a heap and this being my first time having eaten cooked with AVButter goodies) this is probably the best bonus of vaping tbh. Fuck yeah.
But, anyway I was going to also say, @CF you should check out this for your inkwell
And I was going to comment that with the right bud, temp and inhale pattern (has to be loooong and even with gradually increasing effort) you can get the phat clouds. I can white wall all my bongs for a good 20 seconds. Best rip in the ones timed (three vids with different pieces :p fun high times) was a 26cm tall triple honeycomb for 26 seconds of full white inhale, ignoring the warm up and the wash away. That's just with a standard elbow pack. Using finer/stronger material it can do a lot better.

I should add, I don't think it really matters so much to get big clouds, but to replace bong smoking it requires it, and it really helps in cutting back. The main point I'm trying to get across is that it works, and it works extremely qwell.

ACTUAL EDIT: I wasn't lying about being stoned. Sorry for the double post my bad I don't know what I did

EDIT:
But, anyway I was going to also say, @CF you should check out this for your inkwell
He is referring to the UFO (Unnamed Filtration Object) made for the MFLB. It pretty much turns any glass (or cup) with a normal lip into a water filter. The bottom of the UFO seems to have some sort of grip-y material so it adheres to the top of nearly any size glass. BTW, My inkwell already had a rubber cork with Two 2mm ID glass tubes all ready to go. Not even sure if that is desirable for what I am using, with it's narrow pathway. But It looks like I could use an ordinary jelly jar with the UFO.

Still saving up for a custom made glass setup for my EQ. But since I broke the stem off of one of my EQ elbows, It will be modified and packed as if it was a poor man's mini SSV. Hopefully bought the 18mm F/F "dDave" that I really wanted with the correct dimension. Also found an Ebay seller who sells some glass filter screens that might be suitable with my cyclone bowl. Then bought some silicone tubing with the intentionally smaller diameter (1/4" I.D) like I have been mentioning earlier. I'm thinking less volume of air between the bowl and whip/bag = more efficiency + less dispersion. Hope to get some positive results with the glass screens and the cyclone bowl for my other experiment. If you like the adapter I picked out. You may have to look elsewhere like DHgate since this was a one time deal for me. Figured at the very least, it might be a decent reference. Notice it is fairly straight with no bulging center? I might even be able to work the new glass screen into the setup.:brow:

Man I got wasted last night! Munchies and edibles are a fun mix haha..
Yeah the MFLB UFO is a pretty cool way to get reasonable water filtration, but there isn't much to it so it would be easy to rig something together that works the same. Neither option costs much though.

I feel like the glass screen will probably negatively affect the airflow to the bud, and after a serious grind I get powder that would fall down those holes, although the EQ still works well with chunkier bits. It will be interesting to see how it goes though. Havering a thinner F/F adapter could be beneficial, have to be careful with DHgate though as I have read reviews stating that bulk ordered adapters arrived with varying length between pieces. It might pay to ask the seller specifically for the shortest adapter they can find.

Thinner silicone will also be interesting. It'll probably increase drag and having smaller pinch points in the vapour path will condense it more so it might cause more reclaim, although elbow adapters probably cause as much issue.
I would like a complex array of GonG fittings and glass tubing to have a modular and adjustable all glass vapour path with minimal diameter restriction points.
I'll wait to try my all glass nectar collector before seriously considering this but I am over silicone. It might be innate, but it still has flavour.

Lo and Behold! The transformative power of Vapor.
I'm getting a 3pk of the glass screens. Still searching, but not having any luck finding a glass screen that resembles a wire screen. But I figure there is enough other ways to utilize these to be worthwhile. Even being used as spacers inside the cyclone might change up the results. But yes indeed, I am already plotting.:science:

The silicone tubes that I chose will still have the normal thickness, presumably. Where I am placing more emphasis is on the inside volume. Yea, Silicone tubes tend to pinch more than PVC.
That is a consideration, But I also plan to use as little tubing as necessary to shorten (and narrow) the path between. As far as your point about there being drag, Well I did intentionally match the I.D (Inner Dimension) of the Elbow stem on the EQ. So it wouldn't be condensing down to a narrower path (or perhaps it will ). Perhaps the vapor would stay warmer as it traveled too? I do believe there will be less loss, in regards or regardless of the points we are pondering. The tubing with it's size, is even cheaper than tubing that is the next size up. Another positive. So why not?

As far as being modular, I have a glass chillum pipe where the bowl end is rounded enough to where I can plug any hose into it. Much like any glass adapter. So with a whip and silicone tubing I made it work as an adapter. It is now my favorite attachment end/wand. I can plug/unplug a bag, whip extension, water pipe, etc into it like a USB port. Or simply pull directly from it. :)

Arrgh, Can't locate my broken EQ elbow that I was going to mod into SSV. I might have to make another purchase.:( Anyway I 'll you all know how things work out.

Lol do you have any pictures. I would love to see this modification. Sounds like you are quite the engineer.
Thanks, got most of my recent schooling at F.C.U :haw: I will have to play the waiting game before these parts show up through the mail. The chillum I used as a adapter is just some ordinary 5$ head shop glass with a cone-ish shaped bowl. These things are made in the 1000's. The other chillum I have is the generic barrel/socket shaped bowl much like the outside wall of an elbow screen. Yea. If you guessed that I may have taken that and placed it inside the cyclone bowl, well yes. Give yourself a prize. I also took a 1/4 ring of silicone tube and placed it about 3/4 the way up the chillum to create a seal on the top. Two walls glass on the top half of the cyclone bowl + the elbow pack sitting directly on the center hole. Nearly all bottom heat going thru the chilum.:rockon:It's like hitting off a SUMMIT. (Did find my broken EQ stem. BTW)

The hose is much like any other you see being used with a GonG setup on F.C except the consideration I had for the inner diameter matching up with the same I.D of the elbow stem.

The EQ elbow with the missing stem will be a good Poor man's SSV for this project because I can put the top screen inside through the hole in the top "ship in a bottle style" with some tweezers and patience. Still waiting for patience too arrive and my 18mm F/F "dDave". The glass screens are an unknown. But I believe they were designed for some sort of ecig.

I asked the guys up at UNIKATOWEBONGA if they could fit some screens for my ddave F-F adapter (@jwr38) and they said: "No problem, we can make a 18mm female-female adapter with steel screen inside. It will cost You same as adapter without screen. " so if you're lloooking for a 18mm F-F ddave adapter for the EQ, these guys are the place to go (in europe)

btw, my SSV wand is already on its way.:D Thanks @ragnorak71 for the ebay uk link!
Thanks for this. I am going to pick up this vape in about 3 months .... as soon as my current grow is finished ... right now I am on a tolerance break (aka I have no weed).

I am going to get this mod with the screen :)

I like all the different ways everyone mods up their EQ's. I feel the EQ is the best all around plug in vape. That means the best bang for the buck. I don't think it's the "BEST" at any 1 style. However it will let you try every possible way to vape, bag, whip, hydratube(my preferred way). Not to mention the wide range of heat. You can go low temps or hi enough to combust. Hell I even caught my cotton on fire when I was using my reclaim. It's going to take a GREAT plug in vape to unseat my EQ as my go-to home vape.

Master Zufi
Does anyone know where to pick up the DDave adaptor in the UK? (at a reasonable price) I just got some adaptors from China but they were much bigger than I had hoped for - almost as tall as the cyclone bowl. Your help would be appreciated.

dDave hunters, as I have said from my personal experience, Try to get with the dimension of the glass piece you are choosing. I bought one that was too wide in the center and it would have choked the airpath to the EQ. Others can be downgrades from the cyclone bowl for some other points that I've mentioned before. One upside, if you already bought one that doesn't fit. it can be certainly be used for other projects. :science:

The dDave I bought was exactly what I was looking for dimension wise, etc. But a cyclone bowl seems to keep a certain amount of trapped heat in the bottom where an ordinary 18mm F/F is all open throat from the heater to the elbow. Some detail I have been considering when getting to know the setup. So far I have crimped a large stainless screen with tweezers to form a bottle cap and fit it as a crumb catcher in the top third of my adapter. Wouldn't mind getting a quality glass version of this pieces actually.

True story. I live in a town that has several head shops, but very little in the vaporware department of any kind. Just looking for some large screens at one place. Whats this?? One of these guys had 2 of the "ARIZER-WHIPK" whip packs in his display case. They don't even sell EQ vaporizers. Nobody for 100 miles does! Serendipity Perhaps?? :whoa: Long story short, Got the whole elbow, whip, cyclone & stirrer for $15.00. Good on that, since I already cut up my PVC tubing from the last pack. And misplaced my stirrer.

Took my one EQ elbow without the stem and connected a 4 inch 2mm I.D glass tube with some silicone tubing and made an EQ pipe. It packs and empties out like a pipe too. Good for sipping
directly from the elbow pack.

So how much harder is it to get vaporware outside the US? Would like to know more as to the what and why that is.

well here in uk it does mean i have to leave my desk here and go to the door but it is no more difficult than that
big difference i think is a lack over here of the 'cottage' business around vaping. i am always reading on threads about stuff you guys over the pond can get and the ease of it

actually i am sure my lack of knowledge is more based in my lack of connection to the culture of vaping over here, i am an internet vaper

i appear to have run out of words

Yea @ragnorak71, I live in a college town and there is a little emerging vape culture. (Still amazed by that $15.00 find. BTW) So consider yourself the "I did it when it wasn't cool." crowd.

Other than my initial recommend to buy a PAX from somebody who never used one. I've had to delve into it myself. This thread got me to buy the right ones since.TX F.C.

When you've stored up some more words, I'd like to hear a little more of your take on that. Did already get a sense by reading the threads, ebay and other places that things were different trying to locate replacement parts and custom glass pieces. Glass was already big here before vaporizing. So that already had a head start. Plus Arizer being out of Canada might make it less lucrative for sellers abroad to stock up secondary or after market items. as an example.

Now If I buy something even remotely vaporizer related from Ebay, I can predict the seller sending me a message directing me to his side business. (Apparently their main business's store front gets up being deleted from Ebay) Wondering if I should mention where I got my adapter from?

I spent time in London going to school.

One thing I like about California is the new laws concerning CANNABIS.
Yes we have smoke shops on most commercial corners.

Still I use plantet vapes to buy some GonG's!
EPIC (NANO ) is 11 miles away so GonGs from them are easy to obtain!

The Internet is the best place to buy most things!

Hello again, EQ beasts, Got my last package in today and i thought i'd show off a bit hehe:D, Thanks first of all to all of you, which helped me get these pieces here in europe:bang:.
So, there was a bit of a misunderstanding with the guys at unikatowe and instead of just fitting some screens into the adapter they had, they'd actually made me 2 pieces with the glass punched in a bit (sort of like an icecatcher in a bong) and included a ton of screens:clap:, which im not so sure how to feel about airflow wise, but i'll have to wait to order again. Some people suggested getting a test tube holder, but i just cut a strip off the tuff bowl's silicone outer layer and use that to hold it when it gets hot.
