.......... after 50 years of burning weed, decided to try the whole vaping thing I've been hearing so much about .............. shopped around, got a Easy Vape for about 90 bucks, 'cause I figured I didn't want to spend a bunch not knowing if I'd like it, kind of a learning curve but think I'm getting the hang of it ................. kinda looking for a portable now, something easy and cheap (kinda like me) and dependable
........... suggestions ??????????

I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too
+1 for a Solo

I think they are a great all round (port/home) unit. Very user friendly, easy to use straight out the box.

And there are plenty of mods like @Ed's TnT stems or water tools if you are feeling adventurous.

Welcome aboard and good luck.

I may buy a solo or air soon so I have one for the road. I currently only use a desktop.

The solo is much bigger than the air. If you are looking for something easier to conceal, the air is the better bet out of the two.

Every time I hear easy and cheap I tend to think of something like the Vapor Genie, or if battery operated is your goal I would go towards something like the Imag+ Vape, just be careful with that one, ceramic insides break when dropped, the Vapor Genie is a tank and works great but you need a decent lighter to not go nuts with it.

You can always wait for the Grasshopper Vape, hopefully they will be readily available in September.

At first I thought you were gonna say " Monica Lewinsky " ....................... BUT, Dependability is as important as the other two .............

Solo is only 135?
Puffitup.com in the US.

Think the Flowermate 5s may be even cheaper, the reviews seem pretty good too.

As somebody mentioned above, the imag+ is definitely a cheap portable. It's not the easiest on your stash (uses a good bit to get you there), and isn't the most refined flavor. But, think it is still on sale at PuffItUp for $55 with coupon code. Doesn't really get much cheaper than that.

VapMan and MFLB also decent portables at a good price. Both a bit different with many fans and many detractors, but depending on what you're looking for either may be good. Would check both out here on FC.

Love my solo, it was my favorite until I picked up my crafty. Crafty is over your price point though. If you do get a solo, I really loved my phves stem

Check out the classifieds section here also, saw a couple ascent vaps there with a crap load of accessories for a decent price, couple MFLB's, a Haze, etc....any of those would be nice portables under 200.

Problem with coming from combustion to vaping is always am I willing to invest in this. Think of how many glass, brass, wood, soapstone (old school) pipes and all the papers ect that you bought. Essentially your doing that when buying a vape. If you stay in the I don't want to invest head frame then your going to keep seeing cheaper vapes but not always good vapes.
My brother flat out refuses to make the switch. He tells me he is keeping "old school" alive. I have given him vapes and am constantly having him try mine. I bring mine with me when I visit his house. The two vapes he has liked the most have been the Vapman simply because it had that flame ritual that reminded him of smoking. Which for a serious old school smoker like yourself may be perfect as you can make the clouds as heavy as you wish. The other is the Airizer Air. I set it on white for him and its just so easy. He has to "cough to get off" as he says coughing.
Both of these would be a huge improvement over what you have. But, if you are going to continue to combust you won't really get the full effects of vaping. Many recommend two weeks of just vaping. Good luck

Last I knew, you could get a second silver surfer for $160. I know you said $150 firm, but that is a hella price on a very nice vaporizer. As I understand most imperfections are not very noticeable or effect the performance in any way. Just my $.02

Edit, oh portable! Never mind

I vote for the Arizer Air or the Solo. They both use small amounts of herb, so it stretches the meds budget. Very easy portable vaporizers with no learning curve.

They both attach easily to water tools. Both have great vapor flavor. The Air uses an owner replaceable battery that lasts around an hour. The Solo is larger than the Air so it isn't as stealth but it's close to your price range of under a $150. The Air is around $200. It doesn't have as many temps to choose from as the Solo but that's OK. I got over it. Check out both threads.

I have to second everything you said. The Air was my first vape and it does everything well, including being super easy to use (turn on, turn off, raise temp, lower temp).

Also its small bowl size--which you can make even smaller with a domed screen--gives you a bunch of chances for trial and error when fiddling with things like grind consistency, amount of herb, temp, etc. This way you don't feel like you wasted a bunch of herb on a crappy session if it doesn't turn out well.

Period? That's a pretty big claim while being very subjective. Don't want to start that kind of battle here, but there are others at least as good. Best bang for the buck IMO would be the VapMan. Think about $100 shipped from PIU with discount (and not dealing with MassDrop or Arizer if needed). MFLB is same price. Not sure about the Air itself, but VM rocks me way more than my solo at just over 2/3 the price. There is also the imag+ and think it is still going for $55 with special code from same place. Not the best vape, but I'd say more than 1/3 the vape as Air for a little more than 1/3 the price.

All great suggestions - Air included - but hard to say for certain which of these or others would be best bang for buck for OP or anyone else. Kind of like saying Rum Raisin is the best flavor ice cream, period. :D

Everyone has different likes and dislikes per vape. Vapes are all good and give each user something different. What is good for one is terrible for the other. Me personally, I dislike the air. Much restricted air flow. I also disliked the Arizer EQ. So I went out and bought a Vapir rise 2.0 and love it. What would I buy best for portable, if I have the money it would be a Crafty. Just wish a Crafty would come with a smaller bowl.

Go for it, get a Crafty @ginolicious and use a spacer inside such as a non toxic, unbreakable glass bead. We have a lot of DIY players around here, you will learn a lot. Some folks use cotton or hemp fiber as a spacer too.

Use oil pad to make bowl smaller
