Hi Soloists,
I'm about to pull the trigger on an Arizer Air, but I figured that before I did, I should come over to the Solo thread just to make sure I'm not making a mistake by choosing the Air over the Solo.
I understand that I am sacrificing battery life, but I will get a spare battery.
My main concern is with the temperature settings. It looks like the Air has five out of the seven settings that the Solo has. It is missing the lowest setting from the Solo, which is fine with me, but it also is missing setting #4 on the Solo, which is 195 C (374 F). I feel like that is the very temperature I would want to use, but the Air skips from 190 C straight to 200 C. Are a lot of you Solo users on setting #4, and will I be sorry if I can't get there?
Anything else that I may not have considered? Thanks in advance for your input

I'm a habitual user of Solo on step 4. I tried using Air on step 3 but found it not to my liking, so now I use step 2 and 'make do'. IMO it's not that big a deal to drop five degrees C, but going the other way was.
OTOH, if you don't have the two to compare you probably would not know what you were missing. Overall I probably use Air (on 2) and Solo (on 4) about equally time wise. If I'm seated somewhere Solo gets more use. Stems I interchange at whim.
You won't be disappointed by either, I think, both are fine vapes.

Level 1 is basically useless for us, I consider it to have 6 functional temperatures. That being said 4 is a level that I use often.

Some days I start out at level 3 and slowly work my way up to level 5 at the end. Sometimes it depends on the cannabis I am using as to the temp I choose. Usually my go to temperatures are 4 and 5. I have been using my whip set up and it's all good.

Thanks to all of you for your input! In the end, since nobody seems to be saying "4 is the only useful setting, you will be sorry if you chose the Air" I think I am just going to risk coarser temperature resolution on favor of portability. Plus it seems the Air has been following the Solo through price drops, so the price difference between them is not too big.
This I can confirm is definitely true. I had my first experience on puffitup today, and the service I got from Randy today completely explains why they are so highly regarded around here

Get both the AIR and SOLO!
I love SOLO at 4 usually.
Level 3 if the cure is on the dry side.
I put the level higher when using SHATTER.
I heard good things about the AIR!
SOLO is more practical for me.
Besides CANNABIS is the most important!
I use all the temperature settings on my Solo!
I love the flavor at levels 2 and 3...
...nice big hits at 4-6...
...sometimes I like to bump it up to 7 to finish a partially vaped stem from earlier in the day. Good for bedtime lol
But ataxian is right, the cannabis itself is more important than which vape it goes in!

Hah, that would be nice, but for the moment it is one or the other
Both are great. I only use levels 2-6 on my Solo, (nobody uses #1 in any case) and generally only use 2-5 so I think it is the same number of steps, at least for me. Seems like the air gets up to temp quicker. The Solo feels more sturdy, but could just be because of battery weight, and like was posted by OF, it is easier to grip a solo if your grip is not great. However the Air does come with a silicon sleeve that I think will help.
Seems like my air is a bit more powerful, but I think I will try a nice freshly cleaned stem to see if that is it. Could very well be. I haven't cleaned it in the over a year I have had the thing.
The Air has two advantages for me. It is much more easily pocketable, and it has removable batteries. I got 3 batteries to keep swapping out, it is like second nature to me since I use a mod. If you wreck one of those batteries, you are out $20. Wreck the Solo battery and you are out $50.
If you could get a used 'older model' solo (where the power adapter works for when the battery is no good anymore) I would get that. But that would probably be difficult to find.
My only gripe with the air is it is harder to figure out how much battery life is left, but I am sure I will figure it out. You will likely be pleased with either. Unless you are under the impression (that I was) that this vape is one you can just turn on and take a quick full hit from in a matter of seconds. It isn't. Takes a couple minutes to warm up, I used to always wait 3 minutes or so, but I love the low temps so much I don't mind getting a draw or two of just terpenes.

love the solo, use 2-7 all the time, up to 5 dry and above for the water
I dont think you can go wrong to be honest mate. which ever one you choose you will get used to and enjoy

I may have posted this procedure in an
old qwiso thread , but I do use 1 and 2 for final purging
of my homemade qwiso , mostly 1 . I do toggle up to 2
to ramp up the heat level a bit .Using those little glass vials
that you can buy at your LHS , some will fit perfectly in
the oven chamber .
This is after the initial warm water bath , I will scrape
and deposit into the glass vials for final evaporation .
I find the level 1 temp ( 122 degrees F ) to be quite
adequate .
and 6 , 7 for water vaping .

I wonder if you've just finally found a use for those silly 'aroma therapy cup'? Perhaps with a little water in it to help rapid coupling it could solve that fit problem?
At last we know what Arizer was up to.

I can't be bothered with the lower temps. I've tried starting on 3 and moving up but had to really watch my draw speed to obtain a decent hit. So went back to cracking straight to level 7, pack and insert stem and give it a minute past warm up and go. No water filtration just dey tasty big hits.

I'm a stepper. I start at 3 and take the same bowl up to 7- 2 to 3 sessions per. I just realized there's a reason I always get asked by my dude if I'm still good. Solo is just crazy good at conservation!

I like keeping my solo Solo sessions at 2-4, 2 being round one, 3 is round two after putting my thumb over a cooled down stem and then grinding up the little nug packed in there with a pin, and 4 the finisher, often times it doesnt even go to 4, 3 does the job just fine.
I just pack a little nug in there as to not disturb to many trichs with grinding. The flavor of the bud is more prevalent and longer lasting this way. Its awesome
Groups require temps 4-6, without a bubbler, and 5-7 with one.
I kinda want to invest in an Arizer Air now, though. Because of the battery switching option. I usually vape like 10 bowls plus in groups lol.

Yeah, I like to that as well. Put a little nug in there as I feel it tastes better and seems to preserve the taste for longer as well. Plus less kief gets stuck in the grinder.

Hey guys. I tried to search for someone with a similar post, but I couldn't find anything. The other night, I charged my Solo overnight, and when I woke up to use it, it wouldn't turn on anymore. None of the lights turn on. I've tried plugging it back into the charger and holding the buttons down for 10 seconds, but it's still nonresponsive. I've only had it for a few months. What should i do?

Bummer, sorry you're having troubles. Hopefully you have a backup vape? If not, now you know why you should have one.........
Two options come to mind (3 if you count 'throw it away and get another'.....). First off, try a hard reset. Remove the cap and four screws in the base and slide the works out the bottom. On the back (opposite the front panel) is the battery cover, carefully unlatch it (the tabs can get broken, not fatal) to expose the battery. Unplug the battery, wait 15 seconds or so and plug it back in. It should boot up normally. Don't over tighten the screws, they can break the tabs (not good).
Alternatively, return it under warranty?
What happens now if you plug the charger in?
