1.How do you take out the inner locking clip thing.
I use fiskars trimming scissors, put tips in holes compress, remove.
Ed sells a tool kind of like an ice pic. Be careful mine went flying I thought it was gone. It flew in my hand, that was a one time deal I got lucky.
Good luck

Edit that was my solo stem, that won't be working on the Nano/UD stems...

Mental note: get exotic c-clip tool next tnt order...

Good morning everyone, I hope all is well out there! Have been really busy yesterday trying to get orders out but all is well! Had a great afternoon and night with my boys Sunday for Fathers day, My 11 year old did really well prepping the meat and all, I got a few lbs. of ground chuck, a couple other needs and a triple chocolate cheesecake, my boy made the hamburger patties all by himself, cut the sausage, and maned the grill and did an awesome job! I did the smalls in the kitchen like fries and baked beans. We had a wonderful dinner and spent the rest of the evening just hanging out enjoying the time! Was time best spent!

@Aezhenn Hello, glad you like all the neat things we have been doing, is alot of fun to sometimes break away from all the many many stems to do the side projects. My oldest is really coming along, I opened his first very own savings account yesterday, he is like "Thats right I have a bank account now!!!" The red cedar is a nice species and the aroma is very pleasing, I feel thats his favorite more so at the moment. I hope all is well in your shop and thank you for stopping by my friend!

@KidFated. I have never had walleye, I would love to try some for sure, maybe one day we could swap out each other for the sausage. My in laws hunt wild hogs quite a bit, lately they havent been having alot of success, pigs are very very smart critters and wont stay in one place long, either they are there or they arent. They just go into a place and destroy it for all the other wildlife and then move on to the next spot, such a nuisance, we are getting over run with them. Some areas are really really bad! Maybe you oughta come down here sometime and get in on a hunt, gets pretty crazy at times!

@NickDlow Yeah I saw that burl mobile, how bout that, I have seen an Amboyna burl rocking chair this guy did when googling, priced at $37K I wanna say, heckofa price to just sit and rock back and forth. The grill performed amazingly, not a single flare up, had the vents just right smoke was boiling out of it, the sausage was just right on the top rack and the burgers were the best ever, you just cant beat charcoal! I took some pics of some of my wood stuff, I gotta get over to that thread and post up myself, see ya over there bro, hope all is well!

@little maggie I hope you got that email I sent back to you bout the solo whip rig, just let me know what you would like to do when you wanna do it and we will go from there. Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it, my boys are all I got, if I dont give them all I got then what good am I!

@WoodVillain Wow I just youtubed BladeSport competitions, those are some super sharp tough blades for sure, aint something you just go throwing around is it! I didnt know there was such a thing as that kind of competition, hmmm, guess I learned me something! I will be on the lookout for that blank to arrive, they usually notify me when UD sends something my way. Yes sir FC is a great place where we all just fit in where we can get in and make it happen how ever its supposed to, alot of great communication and cooperation which makes this wonderful FC world go round!

@Quetzalcoatl Thank you for the post, you are so right, its all about the time spent! My good friend told me a while back that no matter what your kids are watching you and they pick up so much from you so I try to watch what I say, say what I mean and do what I say, always looking them in the eye! My old man said you show respect and you get respect! Thanks for the kind words!

@Snappo Looks like you were enjoying a great day yourself, bet I know what was in that glass! Nice pic, thanks for the post!

@Reflections I understand and my heart and prayers are with you and your mother in law, I understand your situation. I missed that PM somehow back then but we got right and I got your email info, thanks, will be in touch soon. Be well and take care!

@momofthegoons I am really glad to hear you have gotten the compliments, I told my oldest and he started grinning then said wow dad I may have to hire some help, lol. He is so happy as am I, thank you for all you do!

@vaplen Glad you got the piece and are happy with it! Blackwood is by far one of my favorite species, just the feel and the look of it is top shelf, love the finish of it. The clip has two tiny eyelets on either end, I was making clip removal tools to be used but can only make so many different pieces its tough to keep up, you can take something narrow & pointed like @Melting Pot suggested a simple ice pick and poke into one of the eyelets and in a upward/backward motion dislodge the clip then lift it out with the pick, then remove the screen, place another into the bushing then mash the clip between your fingers and push back into the bushing, maybe get the eraser end of a pencil and push the clip down to reseat it. I hope you are able to make it work and thank you for the kind words, I appreciate you!

@Melting Pot Thanks brother for stepping in and posting up with the advice, you done good and I appreciate you always! Hope all is well down your way and wish you a great day!

I have been so caught up and forget alot but I wanted to give a thank you to @TriiKLe for doing what he does by making a great wooden vape and in turn I could do what I do! Yall know how I dig wood and his work is topshelf itself, thanks again!

I have used this harbor freight pick set ever since I got my first TnT order. I would love a custom tool, but right now would rather put my $$ towards new Ed's stems... I just got back on his list earlier this week for my 3rd order.

I got to remember to add a bunch of screens on my next order, mine currently looks like you could hit a ping pong ball through the mesh.

Here is the pick set, it comes in very handy when I can't find my epic e-pick and for removing C-clips.

Hello and good morning, I hope all is well out there!!! Bout to get geared up for another trip to Bham tomorrow, its just a follow up to see how I am mending is all. Got another room booked with a working pool this time, taking my boys and we are going to the aviation museum this time! Talk about excited, I think we all 4 are just tickled! Then rush back friday morning cause we have all stars tournament starting friday evening. Dont know how yall do it yalls way but have gotten me a dads allstars shirt also in support, gotta do my job to represent! I am getting slammed once again, seems like when I get one dealer out and get ready for the next, another two put in. Just got Texas out yesterday, got Canada to get out in about a week or so, then PIU, then Brazil. Somewhere in between I gotta get customs done which go about the same way, just when things start to slow down for a couple days maybe a week, they start to pile back up. This is good for sure, at least I aint starving and am staying busy.

@NickDlow My man, thats still such a nice combo you got there, what a stunner! Those pieces I did for you sure were fun! Alot of time goes into the tool though, it aint as easy as stems, not that stems are easy but there is more steps involved and takes quite a bit of time, the brass is so soft that you really have to be careful when cutting it not to mash the tubing, turning the wood is a breeze its just putting the whole thing together is all, still fun but does take time. I really need an army of minions, elves, whatever you wanna call them. Dont know if I followed up on the wood turner that I had seen and tried to hire on for help or not, well he didnt work out in the end. He is more of a one off kinda guy and cant keep up with the numbers nor the consistency of design. Dont get me wrong he does great work, exceptional work, makes wonderful bowls and such but dont ask him to make another one just like it. He told me that he once made a candle stick, took him just a few minutes, he tried to make a matching one and it took him an hour. Maybe I dont get it but I dont understand what could be the trouble with duplicating, I take the measurements, turn it initially, mark it out, turn some more, measure some more, turn a little more and then its done. I guess I just take it for granted that what I do not everyone else can do and I should know that by now with having tried to train that one guy last year, had to tell him that I was sorry that maybe turning just aint for you. I am sure I make it look easy and all but guess its not that easy and maybe not everyone has a good eye or steady hand, guess it it what it is after all.

@FlyingLow Nice link bro, well done and for the price you cant beat it, also with orange handles theyd be easier to find! Thanks for the post, by the way whats to word on the steak houses that way? Will be in route in the morning. Hope all is well and look to hear from you soon!

I guess it is true, good help is tough to find. At least you got the little ones there with ya to, just be careful of them pesky child labor laws haha. Remember fair hours and fair pay!

God forbid if something happens to my job I'll try a little apprenticeship action lol. But like I was tellin u before I'd love to learn that regardless and need to take u up on the open door offer of yours.

Thanks for the compliment too but that's your handy work that deserves the compliment, I'm just the check book or debit card nowa days. When I sold my solo I included that WonG and it killed me to break the set but I had no use for it.

Enjoy your trip with the boys I'm sure you will all have a great time espically with a working pool this time. Wish your boy luck from all of us at his tourney also.

Well sounds like you have some orders to get to so I'll leave you to it bud.

You will find someone Ed! You are doing a wonderful job making beautiful pieces !
(for the happiness of us, woodlovers!)
I'm sure there are some woodturners who know how to work with a caliper, and who would be happy to follow you in this adventure!

Have a great time with the boys in the museum, and yes, Good luck to your son for the allstars tournament!!! :)

Quick question. I've noticed these stems make the vapor a little warmer and harsher. I'm sure it's because it's less restrictive and the metal bowl conducting more heat?

Are there anyways to lessen the heat? It's not terrible but a little warmer than my stock Air stem with the tip.

Sorry for my delated reply!

I've been hunting high and low for a good steakhouse but failed to get any strong recommendations.

As much as I am a total Dreamland fanboy, if you want to mix it up with some more killer BBQ, hit up Full Moon BBQ- they are also argued to be the best around.

let me know which you like best;)
(I happened to be in another Dreamland in another city while typing this:D)

Hello and good morning everyone, been a busy past few days, the boys and I had an awesome time at the aviation museum thursday, we were able to get in flight simulators and fly various planes, saw some really cool early planes and the pioneers of flight while learning some history. The boys were able to get inside a small plane grab the controls, flip switches and have their imagination take them away! My 11 year old got out and told me he had to have to plane and needed to take flying lessons, he really enjoyed it. He wants to be a scientist so he said when he is he will get a plane. I bet he will one day! We cut the mini short though, my youngest had baseball practice that night, the night before the tournament started the next day, kinda thought itd be best if we got back in time for him to make it, we found out the day before that we were going to be playing the two best teams in the league district so we had to get that practice time in. Fridays game started off pretty good, they got a run the first at bat, we came right back and scored 3, by the 4th inning we had a small lead of 5-1. The 5th they tied it up and the 6th they just ran away with the game. Our team still had several 5 year olds and even the 6 year olds its kinda hard getting them to concentrate. Mine was spot on, always focused and ready but couple werent so, even had one of the outfielders laying down in the grass without a care in the world, not sure how he got picked but hey looked like he was having fun no matter where the ball went. So we were down one loss and had another game yesterday evening with the #1 team in the league, we really got our butts handed to us yesterday, seemed like our at bat was 3 up, 3 down just like that, thankfully they have 7 run lead rule so the beating wasnt just awful. All the coaches talked with my boy and told him how happy they were with how he played and that they would be keeping an eye on him next year! I am going to keep working with him as often as we so not to get rusty but we are thinking about maybe getting him in tournament traveling ball to keep him at it if he likes. The main thing is he and all the rest of the boys had fun and made it as far as they did and thats what its all about in the end right!

I just got a beading tool for turning the other week and I got up a little early this morning to give it a try and like what I was able to do, was different for sure and is going to take a little more time to really get a feel of how it cuts and how I can use it to add more flavor to the pieces. So I also chopped one of those snakewood blanks up and bored it to make an air stem, i really like the way it turned and the sleek dense finish it has but upon slicking it out I noticed a split at the mouthpiece end, I had kinda expected that to happen but was sure hoping it wouldnt but it did. Its a really dense wood but is brittle to a point when under pressure. Wow it really has a bright lustrous finish it has, very distinct grain patterns with a rich coffee color, made me fee bad knowing that is was trashed.

@NickDlow Lol, I would gladly pay my youngens more than fair, my oldest time is coming, we didnt get to spend much time together in the shop last week, going to take an hour or so before church tonight to do a little turning. Hey, got a thing I am working on could use your skills am sure, wouldnt mind I show you and you show me, got a text into this morning, holla when ya can! Ah pieces come and pieces go, still a nice set even without the solo piece, am sure you would hold onto the rest for a long time to come. I am anxious to work on this next project of yours and what you have cooking, still gotta fit in your grinder also. You all really got my work cut out for me on these custom orders this batch, going to be busy for sure, itll be alot of different stuff, not the same old same old for sure!

@Aezhenn Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it! When looking for help back a couple months ago I did find the state chapter of wood turners and saw a pic of all of them on the net, were all mostly old timers and some looked like back woods folk, nothing wrong with that but none looked like they into our kind of tune. I spoke to this other guy I found and he was a know it all kinda guy, was an instructor with his work here, there and everywhere, to hear him say it he was a master wood turner with a rather large ego to boot, he just went off with all his accomplishments, awards and such, teaches a class and all. I was cool never said a word, just wow, how bout that, I was just looking for some help, he was like I suggest you go to this website you will see my work and all, I was thinking sure Ill do that, and said thanks I will give it a look and be in touch soon, yet to do so! I dont need that kinda guy nor does he need my work. I hope all is well for you over there and want you to be safe, take care my friend!

@Deano Good morning, yes sir the SS bushing is going to conduct a bit more heat and all, what temp are you running it at, any chance you can back it down a setting for somewhat cooler vapor? I have never heard anyone mention the temp of the vapor nor harshness with these new stems, is anyone else having this issue?

@FlyingLow Lol, you are a dreamland fan boy, thats funny but I dont blame you, their BBQ is better than anything I have had here in a long time. No sweat on the delay, while I was there I asked several people about a steakhouse and most said the same, that there was no real laid back steakhouse for a fair price, they all mentioned Ruths chris but just aint feeling it. I figure I will give your other option a try in a couple weeks, got one more follow up then, will take the boys with me again and stay the night then also. You were right though, the aviation museum was so much fun, we really had a great time, the people there were really cool and helpful and we learned alot, my boys got to get in a jet fighter cockpit too, wow you should have seen their faces when they sat down and grabbed the controls, their eyes widened and got that look on their faces, was priceless! We are doing the motor sports museum next trip, over 1500 motorcycles, formula 1 cars and more, thats going to be fun!

@Snappo Wow, I have never vaped tobacco that must be a whole different ballgame, I am figuring its very pleasurable, hmm my guess is that tobacco is not just your ordinary leaf either, gotta feeling its some of the best of the best, oh I know you and how you roll, you aint rolling on nothing less than the best and aint nothing wrong with that, you deserve it and hope you are enjoying your morning today!

My Man, Ed ...you write like a pro and keep my mind's-eye fixed to the page as I track every meaningful word - sentences like sails in the wind taking us to our destination! And baseball, my favorite sport, bar none ...narrated play-by-play - I feel like I was there! Wish I were!!!

Yes! Vaping only the finest pipe tobaccos - a taste experience that must be had to be believed! I pack your stems as tight as bark hugs a tree, and there's no draw restriction at all! The more moist the baccy the more vape & flavor comes forth. The Solo works perfectly, maybe better than convection for this purpose - roastier/toastier nuttier sweeter more concentrated delivery of incredible flavors! And while I do also love my pipe tobaccos the old fashioned way, vaping it is a whole nuther world of pleasure - and much healthier too!!!

On another note: Here's a tip on how to really clean the inside of you custom Ed's wooden stems - take a paper towel and twist it into a tight rope, then feed it into the stem through the mouth-tip end while twisting & pushing it through ...keep twisting and you will route out any unwanted residual matter - works much better & more thoroughly than with Q-Tips. If you want an even cleaner extraction, use a very thin wash cloth or handkerchief and moisten with alcohol - use twist & route method above and have a fresh showroom-new Ed's TnT custom stem! And don't forget to use your Ed's Bomb Ass Butter to reinvigorate the wood;-) ENJOY!!! Happy Sunday All!!!

Thank You @Snappo. Just picked up Nano stem from Ed and was wondering about whether or not to dunk that funk in ISO tube for reclaim. Guess not. Unit is smaller than I pictured. Nice flavor hits though. I may attempt a flush and shake with eye dropper if it gets too thick. I hate disturbing the screen.

Nooo! DO NOT SOAK, FLUSH, OR DUNK a wood stem in ISO ...EVER!!! Not necessary, and will dry out the wood faster than a forest fire. Use method above - no more is ever needed! ENJOY!!!

Ed, love your work. I'm an AA owner, but to me, my Mighty is leaps and bounds ahead. I know the Mighty doesn't lend itself to your work, but I was thinking a cool stem, maybe a stand. I'd love to find a way to pair your work with a Mighty.
Thank You!!!
Don't forget about E'd E-Nano stems & wongs for your upcoming Nano pleasures!

@Snappo Thanks for taking the time to read my post and I appreciate the kind words, I just write how and what I feel, dont have any real education as far as language arts or composition or what not, was actually just lucky to get by in school. I do remember wanting it to be grammatically correct because thats what the teacher wanted. Not so much now as its been alot years since school days and if you dont use it you loose and I figure I have lost a heckofa lot more then I retained. As only a true vaporist would, you definitely know your rigs and your methods to deliver enjoyment and also maintaining I assume a pristine collection! Thanks for posting your cleaning technique, I wanna post that at my new site in the works, am going through rewriting content and text, what a task, your info would be a fine alternative to my advice for doing so. I hope you dont mind?

@TeeJay1952 Hello and thanks for stopping by, I am glad you have found the stem to be satisfactory! The Nano stem is rather slender isnt but works very well for me. Yeah @Snappo is right on with his recommendation, follow his advice and you cant go wrong, thanks for posting your thoughts Snappo! BTW what species nano stem did you order?I think I got out a couple paela and blackwood last week. Hope all is well and wish you the best!

@Bravesst I thank you for your post and kind words as well, hmmm I have a piece for the Crafty sent to me by a good friend to try and work something up for it, it does look similar to the mighty in style and size, is it? I have given a little thought but havent had time to put anything together for it. I am hoping I will get a little soon to give it a go and see what is possible. Not sure about a stand, TBH I am a real hands on kinda guy, I like to have the unit in my possession before working something up, to many times I have tried with just the stem for a unit and after some time make a piece, send to the customer only to be told uhh its nice and all but doesnt fit, its really close however, it just needs a little here or there. Oh I hate that and just about wont take a job without having the unit in hand. I may could do you something for a stand but like I said would like to have the unit in person. Now if the stems are similar for the two units maybe soon I will have something that will work, am thinking a two piece stem system that would look close to what you have but fit together with a compression fit, that way it could easily be taken apart for cleaning. Give all this some thought and let me know what you think. I hope all is well for you and look to hear from you again soon!

@TeeJay1952 ahh you got Paela, I like that species too, like the color but the grain is not as tight as the others I offer for Nano's. I feel ya bro I do, dont take much to blow my skirt up!

@Melting Pot That dang @Snappo done that in photoshop I think, thats the design he wants me to make, thanks in advance my man, I am going to give it ago soon though and can surely do it and better than his edited version, we will see, stay on the look out for me MP!
