@elmoe420 or anyone else who's used both Nibbler G and Okeanos v2:

I see from your sig you have both :) - how would you describe the relative cooling and moisturizing of these two? Similar? Nibbler is better? I'm trying to decide between the two. They sort of seem to occupy similar space. I'm trying to understand why one would choose one vs the other.

In my opinion there is no comparison between the Okeanos and the Nibbler G. The Okeanos is a compact, spill resistant, durable bubbler with little glass exposed which can break. The Nibbler is your standard all glass bubbler and has all the fragility that comes with that. For me I can take the Okeanos out and about without much fear but I am too nervous to take the Nibbler on the go.

The Okeanos you fill with very little water and the vapor path doesn't directly go through the water. This means it cools down the vapor way less and moisturizes worse than the Nibbler.

In short I would never use the Okeanos over the Nibbler by choice. The Okeanos is used only where I don't feel comfortable taking the Nibbler.

Thank you elmoe420. That's a good description. I didn't realize that the vapor path doesn't really go directly through the water in the Okeanos. But I can also see how it's good for portability (and running AC carts).

I don't mean to undersell the Okeanos. It is the only truly portable bubbler of its kind that I know of. It is also the only bubbler which works out of the box with classic Kiss carts and the new Kiss AC carts. With minor modification it also works with the Kiss Mini.

There is a reason I own both. It is just that I never reach for the Okeanos over the Nibbler unless I am going out on the town.

elmoe420,
@THC SCIENTIFIC Can you tell us more about the recent modifications to the Kiss Globe dual Ti coil carts?

I noticed the most recent ones seem different than the first batch. The grade 2 Ti wire seems thicker than the kind used on globe coils in the past. Also the ceramic cup looks much more shallow than before. The two coils now sit flush with the lip of the cup just like the Kiss AC dual coil carts.

sFroW25.jpg
@THC SCIENTIFIC The coils look all around beefier on that new globe skillet... Are they capable of going to a higher voltage, like a KISS AC skillet?

I'd be using this with an Omi HVD. I'm deliberately leaving the coil choice out of the equation for the moment as that's a whole other variable that confuses the decision :)

Thanks for any comments!
@jezmund : What @elmoe420 said.

I don't have a nibbler to compare to; just a generic "aqua bubbler" in place of the nibbler G, and I find that slightly better than the Okeanos as far as water filtration/cooling, but just by a smidgen.

The Okeanos holds something like 2mL of water (micro bubbler), and does not provide a very satisfying bubbler experience, IMO; It's better than just a globe, but it's not going to replace a solid piece for home use, just for travel. it is very durable and replacement glass can be ordered if you DO break it, so i assume it was designed as a travel piece - almost feels like it's made for camping.

The Okeanos is 601 thread and the globes are 510, so you'd be using different coils in each. You didn't want to bring coils into the equation, but that's kind of an important factor to remember.

Also to bring into consideration is the advent of the KISS AC - it has a special diameter, so the nibbler G will not work with it if you eventually use it. I don't know if the new v3 KISS carts will fit the height of the Okeanos like the old ones and the KISS mini, but because of the 601 threading the Okeanos can use more skillet options.

If the Okeanos water level was more forgiving, I'd recommend it in a heartbeat, just for its versatility of skillet type and rugged construction; it sounds like you're looking for a daily driver, which is what I think the nibblers are designed for. If I misunderstood, and you're looking to take something on hikes, go Okeanos.

tl;dr
The Okeanos and the Nibbler are not really designed with the same purpose in mind; the Nibbler G is all glass, has more water volume, and fits a globe only; the Okeanos fits 601 skillets (height is the biggest issue with fit, here), is incredibly rugged/durable, but has a very low max water volume.

@rangorokk and @elmoe420 thanks for spelling that out for me. That's a great description. I see how both occupy a different place and offer different advantages.

@rangorokk, you are right, I'm looking first for the daily driver at home solution for when I just have 30s to grab something rather than taking the time to set up a nano session. Ideally, I'd also like to be able to leave the bubbler part with water in it sitting in a drawer ready to go. Next on the list would be a portable filtration solution.

@ragnorokk do this, take the ceramic wick from the 1701 and place it on top of your coils that should contain it, we are working on deeper dish coils and will let everyone know once they are ready.

Do I put my concentrate on the coils and then put the black wick on top, or do I put the black wick on the coils first, followed by the concentrate?

Kiss Globe + dual coil Ti + Nibbler G is my go to at home these days. I highly recommend.

I budder the top of the coil, and a light smear on the wick on both sides because I find I often over-saturate (results in splatter and poor vapor production) if I put globs or snakes on it.

@jezmund I second the globe, esp dual coil, through water as a great daily driver. I feel it (dual Ti) needs a lot more cleaning than the KISS AC carts, but my globe atty's often see some serious abuse before they fail out.

Thanks. I'm going to have to try this next time.

CrazyJustin,
For those okeanos owners using a 2nd water deflection dish from the okeanos upgrade kit, where does everyone think are the best positions for the 2 dishes to be adjusted to?

Hi guys, n00b here...

well, with w9 products at least. :)

I just put together an eleaf 30w and kiss ac.
i'm not getting much prime time vapor out of this; it melts into the cart, but I am having trouble getting the coils red hot enough.
I can pull some vapor, and I don't want to crank the voltage.

it's a 510 model, so if I can upgrade to a Persei or 8 with 3.7 and get continuos full power voltage; I think I may have to do that.

any ideas?

edit: i think i like the idea of a Persei with a 510 top, not an 8. so I can lock it. 5 times, short circuit protection, and i can get a herc later.

Dual coil or single coil?

The power set up you have isnt going to make the dual coils glow at all.

If its the dual Coil i would crank it up to 4.5-7.4v higher end meaning faster heat up.

That pic is the 1701 I think...I got some tasty vapor with that..
whats a good voltage for the 1701?

but yea, i'll be using the dual coil tomorrow so i'll crank it up.
it's only the 3.7 cart that shipped with the AC tho.

just giving it a good test before I go out "in the field" tomorrow
aka party.

i need my creative medicine.

the 3.7v 1701 is a guideline, it will work with a 18650 battery or even the 18350 AW versions.

The 1701 3.7v can be cranked up if using the black wick on top. with oil loaded. I would say test around 4.2v-5.5v range and see how it does.

Can anyone help me out?

I have been using SR-71s for a while now and have them down pat. I picked up a nibbler XL and an SR-74x.

I seem to be having issues using the SR-74x. It gets very hot and doesn't produce much vapor compared to what I am used to. I have to hold the button down longer which causes the crumble to melt a lot more and immediately start leaking through the air holes.

Any tips on technique for using the SR-74x without overheating it and getting better clouds and less melting in to the bottom chamber? I used to hardly get anything in the bottom chamber.

The 74x takes a little different
technique than the 71. For the 74x, I usually hold the button down for 5-7 seconds before I hit it. Light hits or cigar puffs to get it started. Then hit away as I do with the 71. The 71 gets hotter faster. But the 74x is a bit more forgiving in not overheating the oil overall. But you do have to find that sweet spot for getting the 74x going to get the huge clouds.

I like it, but it's huge.
How does the okeanos compare?
Size/ weight/ clouds/ taste?
Rebuildability/ reliability?
Considering running 1 18350 in the 8

the only cart that compares to the sr71 is the sr74 lol. i haven't had a chance to try an okeanos myself but it runs kiss carts witch i'm not too fond of so load size and taste rebuild/reliability would be similar to the kiss cart you chose to put in it but slightly cooler size wise i believe they're about the same and a single 18350 on the 8 will run a kiss just fine Ive used that setup at the movies and restaurants few times
