Herb Grinders

What's the best way to clean the herb grinder after? I have over 4gs of kif and my screen looks clogged. Rubbing alcohol and a place in a Baggie and shake? Can I vape it as it is or should I press it? What is the best way to press it? Rather not buy a press.

I clean my 4 piece by soaking each piece in ISO, rinsing with water, and then shaking excess water off and letting it air dry. I try to pay particular attention to the screen by blowing through it to ensure the gaps are clear and not encrusted with oils and what not (sometimes I don't soak long enough, I'm impatient). (edit: yeah, that vid is great! I take a few shortcuts but that's an excellent process)

As for kief (which I recently learned comes from the arabic/persian word for pleasure, my heritage

), I suppose it depends what you want to do with it. I used to vape it just by sprinkling into my MFLB but it was a bit of a pain to clean up afterward. I've pressed it too but even then I don't find vaping it to be satisfying. So, now I just accrue enough until I make some nice edibles, blasphemy to some but it's perfect for me

Don't know what I want to do with kief I guess smoke it. Press it and smoke it if possible?

Now soaking a grinder won't ruin the logo on the top? I have a nice logo on my Puff grinder that I don't want to lose from the ISO. ISO won't take it off will it? That's my concern lol. I guess a toothbrush will help clean the screen yeah? Cause my screen is my concern. I have a brand new Zeus grinder. But my Puff is my favorite.

I personally do a frozen long EC wash, stain through a 10 micron SS screen then evap. Instant yummy!

I knew this from earlier but the video prompted me to actually do it

Very little "herb hours" on my SCS 3 piece but tried this.
Residue is evaporating as I type. Not expecting much of anything, but it would be a nice surprise.

I would never take a chance and would lightly clean the top/logo with dish soap or ISO and immediately wipe/rinse. Then soak the underside of the top and the rest of it in ISO.
Brush with soft toothbrush and rinse rinse rinse,

If you press it, it won't vape very well. But if you're just going to smoke it, it works great out of a pollen press. :2c:

Yeah I just want to smoke it and I don't think dabbing the kief into the chamber will work well.

pressing is deffo better for smoking it man, burns slower and more even/controlled

aas stu says above for vaping you waant it loose, normally on a bed of bud (i want a bed of bud but the wife says no)

Sorry correction. I use vape and smoke interchangeably. I mean I want to vape my kief or crystal I call it. But don't want to have a layer of weed. I have over 4g

So is the verdict still strong on Santa Cruz Shredder?
I am looking at purchasing a 3 piece 'small' (that orange matte is yum) for my upcoming venture into convection portables . Been using this clone of a headchef mini grinder for my conduction vape with relative success, thus far:

Everyones tastes varies, but IMO SCS is the END of the road for my grinder searching. Perfectly fluff, and like most decent grinders, you can get as fine as you like with upside-down turning. Nothing I have ever had turns so freely- even when stuffed completely full with rock hard, dense material. Nothing I have owned ever stayed as free from sticking, making it really easier on my hands than any other grinder I have ever used.

Like @FlyingLow, the SCS is IT for me too. The small 3 piece is great.

Just make sure you want that size as SCS small is about 2.1" diameter. I'd call it a medium.

Another vote for the SCS 3-piece. I just gave mine a bath and it is basically like new again, it practically glides when I nudge it around. They are definitely available for around $45 on eBay

I'm almost convinced I swear! Wish I knew someone with a higher quality grinder I could shake down, see the difference in quality from what I currently use. Most of my buddies still hand mulch - roll tobacco laced joints, whilst I'm gradually slipping into vapesnob territory :uhoh:

It's a shlep finding an eBay seller willing to ship over the pond, might just have to suck it up and order from the SCS webstore. People spend that kind of currency on bottles of wine all the time, right?..

I got a SCS 3-piece a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier with it. Haven't used a space case or any of the other high end grinders but couldn't imagine them being significantly better.

The Other Side Vapes has a good reputation on FC, sells on ebay and ships overseas.

Another member also informed me that they bought from the seller in the link below and are happy. They ship OS too.

Buying from SCS themselves will cost you an arm and a leg in postage, although when I enquired about cheaper shipping on a small 4-piece they said they couldn't do better but could give me a small 2-piece as well to sweeten the deal. Their CS has been lacking in recent times though both in my own experience and that of others on the forum.

Shipping from UK would work out to the same price, if not slightly dearer to my spot on the map (FAR from Old Blighty :brow:
