-_- and you beat me to it as well lol was about to post reply when the alert popped up... technically he didnt beat you too it. That quote adds a little more info to the mix

curious to the fix... like is it a GH fix as in they can easily fix that GH and resend it out or is that unit completely dead and the fix is for future units and such?

If that were the issue I would think it would very much hold shipping off... who'se to know which ones were incorrectly attached?
Look at what Davinci did with the Davinci Ascent (1AA1 model). Numerous complaints of premature failure (average lifespan of these early units was about 30 days before either the oven stopped working or batteries stopped charging ).

Did they ever make a formal announcement about the issue? Nope, they kept shipping units and replacing them. Finally they did fix the issue, but never stated what it was or what they did to fix the issue.

Despite clearly a defect, Davinci continued to ship units to customers, hoping that they'd end up with a working unit. Some people went through 6-7 units before getting a stable unit (or demanding a refund). I was lucky enough to buy my Ascent at the tail end of the defects and my replacement 2AA1 unit has been working for over a year now.

So it's theoretical that if a majority of the boards have sensors properly installed, they may continue to ship existing inventory while they resolve the issue with the manufacturer

fair, I am semi-new to vaping so I dont know background of most companies/product releases and that but even so, looking at GH attitude and constant reiteration of not wanting to send out faulty units to people I can see them holding off until they are sure they know they are sending out good units, tho the fact that they test these, and they work for a day+ b4 being faulty they may have no choice but to keep sending out and replacing whatever goes bad

I am curious... the people who have had theirs go bad, have you dropped them? I know @midgetsanchez said he dropped his and then it ended up breaking later. But I did not see if the others did. I have not experienced any of these problems after LOTS of heavy use with multiple units, although I have not had a hard drops with any of my units yet, (only short/soft falls)

No drops at all, I actually babied it all day =/

Well, I guess the best would be one person on the assembly line kept doing something wrong, and they noticed and said not to do it that way anymore....

Or fire the silly stoner's ass for causing us emotional distress :goon:

"Trevor responded, looks like their manufacturers did a poor job of attaching a certain sensor and this is the error code indicating it. He said he will expedite a new unit and shipping label to me asap"

Which I hope means they know the difference between good sensors and bad ones and are reshipping only good ones.

Which would seem to indicate poor QC by the PCB manufacturer. Hopefully this doesn't hold up shipping these units out.

Of course I expect there will be no mention whatsoever to this issue in the next update.
Perhaps more importantly, it may indicate (but sure hope it isn't), poor QC by Hopper Labs LLC.

I wouldn't say so much poor QC as much as ppssibly lack of tests to search for this specific problem since it seems to be the same issue over and over again

I dont know if I would say that either. It doesnt seem to be getting to them faulty but becomes such after use (varied amount and time) so they could have done 3 days of testing but that particular unit could only handle 4 days of use b4 it glitched, its almost impossible to say

"Manufacturers did a poor job of attaching a certain sensor" - doesn't that mean they are faulty (or fault prone) when they are receiving the part?

its all still too vague though, we dont know if it was all (doesnt really sound like it) or how fixable it is or how consistent the fails are (after X amount of use, etc.)

oh sorry forgot, we're supposed to speculate tons while we wait for a lackluster explanation update... my b.... umm yeah they probably are just trying to find the broken ones and throwing that part out or something, lets just hope it is totally fixed now and they have been and are receiving units that are not faulty-prone

(sounds kinda sarcastic and condesending? maybe but not intended #coveringmybases)

Well if they found a fix thay they will more than likely impliment themselves. It will take more time to fix but will save time from having to send them back out and wait and shit this is gonna take another month or so isnt it?

I really hope it's a quick and easy fix. I'm just really, really tired of waiting since November 2013. I know I know, patience grasshopper (wonder how many times this joke has been made). But to be honest, the reason I want it most is to relieve the wait and so i can stop reading about it daily, more so than I actually want to use it.

They pushed back the shipping dates to Aug/Sept , before we
started to hear of the faulty units in the wild .

Impatient backers , will be glad they caught this issue and
wait a while longer to get a good working GH .

I have an odd conspiracy feeling , that this was their plan
all along .

Plus it was a manufacturer's error , from China ?
I read it as bad " attachment " of a good working sensor
but who knows .

Not an official one, but they have an unofficially one online..forget the name or link for it.

Tenergy charger - see here:

Someone asked about charging - since I don't have a charging cable yet I'm using the external charger they recommended (Tenergy TN270) . I can't speak for other chargers, but I know the GH team advises against using third-party/external battery chargers in general.

I'll be doing a casual review soon, but something strange came up (I'll share details shortly).

In the meantime...some pictures for y'all

@Ratchett is sure right about Davinci with the Ascent. Many of us weathered the storm and are stronger for it. I was lucky after my second unit I didn't have any issues except for a bit of an air leak. It was almost (not quite) fixed using a GonG instead of the regular mouthpiece. And Davinci wasn't a new company. Folks got really pissed. Now very rarely do we see the faulty units.

There were all kinds of promised dates that the Ascent was going to be released. Several dates came and went. When it was released after being held up in customs for like 6 weeks there were faulty unit after faulty unit.

This happens with a new vaporizer. Who knows how many betas were out there? Companies need to have many beta units so the bugs can get worked out. It was so frustrating for the Ascent owners. I know how you must be feeling.

Also same thing happened with the Solo, big time, but look at it now. Problems have cropped up with the Indica portable. Faulty units is nothing new with a new vaporizer. If you want to be the first person on the block with a new GH, you have to put up with the good as well as the bad.

EDIT
It's just as well that representatives from the company don't come on FC because I'm afraid that there would be too many hard feelings leaving the rep feeling attacked. That's what happened in the Pinnacle Pro thread. Folks just started attacking and being rude. No matter how upset you get, some things just aren't appropriate.

Probably, but it could very well be a PCB assembly deflect that can be screened or reworked ...like a run of bad solder joints that applies for a few boards on a specific set of components. So it doesn't necessarily imply anything bad once it's screened out or fixed.

Tenergy charger - see here:
I got a Tenergy Charger and it works great. Here are my thoughts on battery life, so far with a spare battery I haven't yet been in a situation where I couldn't use the hopper because the battery was dead, well okay yesterday at the pool because i didn't bring a spare battery but i did have a pocket charger.

I'm doing a novel experiment which may or may not be of use to any of you. I started my stopwatch when I took the first hit from a full battery. I'm just going to use it just as I would normally (which at 6 on Friday in Colorado is fairly heavy) and see how long it takes before I need to change the battery.

It won't be a metric of "usage time" but more a metric of "time of regular use" including the down time which for me will be good to know whether I need to take a battery or charger or not. So far I'm at 56 minutes, I think I've vaped about 2 bowls, about 2 pinches in each bowl, a few hits a a few temps and a final rip on 5 through a bubbler.

Edit: It was 1:26. I think this was the 4th bowl, hard to keep track with this vape ... see what sacrifices I make for science? :-)

Including down time means the time between hits while its off? Because 56 minutes sounds a lot longer than the low battery life reported by other users. I'm really just curious in how long it lasts while on. Thanks again. (Make a video when you aren't too fucked up lol)

When you say bowl, how does that compare to an mflb trench? I can get a decent high off of a trench a couple of times. Just wondering if that is equal to one bowl on the GH or a few. If one or two, then battery life will be great for me. I know this is very subjective though.
