so my tracker for my D020 from sunshine store finally updated and looks like its almost here... it says attempted delivery... does that mean someone needs to sign for it? Also shows a time stamp 7:37 which can't be EST so do they use a diff time zone for tracking?

CCG posted a vid of their torus finally. Looks like they nailed it for the most part, but the drain doesn't seem as restricted/slow as the mothership/stevens copy. Probably won't make much difference in actual use. Also looks to have a smaller volume than stevens which is nice.

they need to make the drain hole smaller at the bottem for better cyclone spin and its funny watching the videos and him describing it.

Looks like a slow vortex drain on that thing..... No thanks. I'll pass

It's funny how opinions differ on the appropriate drain speed of the torus knockoffs.
Looks like this is the torus for you Ratchett. ;)
I love how CCG signs off every video with the phrase "highly recommended."

Personally I think I'd prefer the CCG torus to Steven's, largely due to CCG's ability to quickly replace broken or faulty pieces without playing games with discounts and other bullshit when the customer clearly deserves a new piece. With CCG it's as simple as paying an extra ~$1 so he can provide a tracking number. You probably don't even have to finalize the second payment, but I did since I ended up with 2 functional eggs for essentially the price of 1. I've been lucky in that the crack in the first piece hasn't gotten any worse, so I use it as my occasional combustion rig.

Hmm, so it looks like I'm stuck between FC-710 and the straight fab from Steven (correct?)

Also, is it worth me looking into a mini tube and a 45deg. banger for on the go?

Edit: Are people generally underwhelmed by the cnmengglass egg? $42.62 isn't bad at all for it, seeing as it claims to ship in 48hrs. Also, does anyone know if I can use a debit/credit card with a separate delivery address or does billing/delivery have to be the exact same?
I just got the cmeng egg errr bout 4-5 days ago. I like it. Been only dabbing with it though. It shipped super fast. I got mines in 7days lol.

for 40 bucks less its probably the safer choice

I use Skrill.com for payments on DHgate. It's like Paypal, but Dhgate won't accept PP so Skrill is the next best thing for me (I don't use disposable credit card #s).

That way Dhgate never get's my CC info, all they get is the shipping info

looks super janky compared to the cnmen. The joint stem is too long and the support is super ugly. Also the perc is higher in the kathy egg so you'd need more water. I would spend the extra few bucks.

So I've been lurking for a couple of months on these threads and have used the advice to narrow down my search greatly. I've spent over $2500 on DHGate orders, though some were repeats for searching for the perfect copy (buy 5, flip 4). I figured I might have some interesting data points and it's time to give back to the community. So I'll start from the beginning and work my way forward on my orders so I have links.
I have a Cloud Evo and EQ so I can share experiences with those.

http://www.dhgate.com/product/two-f...w/214223067.html#myaccount_orderdetail-1-null

Kathy Recycler: Very meh piece, when you fill the water up enough for the recycle to function, the piece is very restrictive because of the small up-pipe. When you under fill it so you can use both the return tube and up-tube for airflow, it works quite well as an inline perc, thought not it's original intention. Very thin MP which I did not like, felt it would chip easily. Would not recommend.

http://www.dhgate.com/product/2015-...s/229098432.html#myaccount_orderdetail-2-null

Kathy Egg: Back in March this was a nice attempt at the egg, looks nothing like the real thing obviously but it hit quite well, very low restriction. However, like most kathy pieces, the entire thing was very thin from mouthpiece to base.

http://www.dhgate.com/product/9-inc...s/235718669.html#myaccount_orderdetail-1-null

CCG 9" colored Eggs: I got 2 of each color. The first batch had a bunch of uncut perc, one had 3/7 percs uncut. I only got a $5 discount for that, I blame myself for accepting and not pressing harder. They hit alright, I personally liked the way the kathy egg hit a little more, however the CCG is thicker. Wouldn't really recommend these unless you really wanted the smaller egg with color on the outside. Could be because of my experience from an early batch.

http://www.dhgate.com/product/2015-...s/233845598.html#myaccount_orderdetail-1-null

CCG 11" Egg: I got about 9 or more of these at different times. Lots of data on this one. So first I got the UFO pin hole perc with a tilted joint. My buddy who has the real MS egg hit it side by side and thought it fired very close to the real deal, in fact, throughout 3 iterations, this was his favorite. V1 has an initial drag that makes a little jet noise. V2 has what I call the china seed of life perc:

This V2 perc has more drag because it fires to the bottom, and IMO functions worse for an egg due to the way the bubbles are traveling as they hit the egg. It's all upwards velocity, rather than some sideways velocity to move along the walls of the egg.

The V3 has the nice shower head perc with 7-8 slits cut, hits very well. I kept a personal. Though on the V3's CCG started bending the necks like stepchild:
no8XxdO.jpg

Anyways, here's a very interesting data point, we have the means to weigh all of them. The real MS clocked in around 460g of glass. V1 weighed ~450g, V2 ~360g, V3 530-580g of glass!! The V3's are very thick, the CCG eggs all have dished out bases which weigh less than the thick and solid MS base, which means there is more glass in the actual egg it self on the CCG V3!

The V3 had variation in how thick the upper and lower hemisphere's 4 joints were. When they were thinner, water tended to get trapped in the upper hemisphere, forming a recycle action which takes a second to drain down after you stop hitting it. Those with thicker joints here didn't recycle.

MP wise V1 and V2 were very crude, sharp edges on the interior and exterior of the MP. V3 rounded these edges out.

http://www.dhgate.com/product/2014-...e/214701656.html#myaccount_orderdetail-1-null

Steven's FC-187 V2: Very versatile piece, I would keep one if I didn't have the FC-186 already. I used this for a bit with the EQ, the amount of diffusion on the matrix perc really kills flavor though. The 1st hit was kind of eh, and the following hits didn't have much taste. But diffuses well and hits smooth, zero drag piece, just like Yingmin5's toro XL clone. Also this piece doesn't have a vertical joint which pushes water back after you stop hitting, this is important for something like the EQ, where push back knocks an elbow pack into the cyclone (doh!)

http://www.dhgate.com/product/2015-...r/228627112.html#myaccount_orderdetail-1-null

Kathy twin matrix piece: I was worried because I found the thread after I ordered and someone noted that the percs work too well and you get water in your mouth. Happy to say that wasn't the case. The piece was thin, same thickness (thinness) as the Kathy egg, same MP as well. I would fill the bottom chamber completely and just start pulling hard for a while, this seemed to fill both layers perfectly. If you like lots of diffusion with your dabs, this piece would work well due to the small volume.

http://www.dhgate.com/product/new-1...h/213693327.html#myaccount_orderdetail-2-null

Kathy Recycler 2: This piece really surprised me! I got this when I was at like an [8] one night, thought the thin body looked cool. The perc is pretty bad, only about 60% of them fire due to it needing a perfectly level surface as well as perc placement to fire all correctly. The perc fires very chuggy and provides minimal diffusion. Now this ended up being the perfect combination for vapor taste! This was like the FC-710 for vapes due to how much taste it left in there. If you think about it, it's a similar concept with the lack of (or controlled) diffusion.

http://www.dhgate.com/myaccount/ord...geload&rfxid=ff8080814cdb963e014cea2042f31a98

Steven's Torus V1: Echo what everyone has said already. Chuggy, amazing quality, but in the end the need for giant lungs just to get the thing to function is not worth it. Was lucky to be able to sell this at cost due to the high initial cost.

http://www.dhgate.com/myaccount/ord...geload&rfxid=ff8080814d0072eb014d1db4cab466a5

Yingmin5 GB-194: Amazing piece. My buddy has a real Toro XL 8 arm -> 12 arm. They are exactly the same just without a logo. The quality is unreal, I've gotten 5 and all 5 were the exact same, they have their production line consistency down! For the dude that was worried about the lack of joint support. I wouldn't be, the joints were very sturdy and well made, had no worries with the EVO up there. Lots of diffusion, zero drag, and no push back. Very similar to the FC-186 in terms of feeling, both MP's were thick and felt great.

http://www.dhgate.com/myaccount/ord...geload&rfxid=ff8080814d0072eb014d1db4cbda66ae

Steven's FC-Mini: fantastic copy of the MS mini. My buddy has the real thing and I posted side by side pics in the FC-Mini's review, so you can see them there. The size is the same, Steven's can's diameter was larger by ~4mm if I remember correctly. The cap was also 5-6mm taller than the real thing. Functions great though, however, I have a hard time understanding the cost for so little glass and a relatively simple piece. But it's the only mini copy with the barbell perc. Unfortunately the MS swings do not fit and is not compatible with this piece. :( I do have one in my personal collection though as a take to the beach piece.

http://www.dhgate.com/product/8-inc...r/212556170.html#myaccount_orderdetail-1-null

SSS Rasta bubbler: Shipped super quick to socal as SSS always does. nothing special shower head/slit perc, just some working. Never even used it, selling for a while. The colors are kind of faint, when you have a light behind it the colors really fade. Looks better when it's dark behind the piece.

Looks like I'm over 10,000 words soon need to split into 2 posts.

love my cnmeng egg, here's a gif of it in action with an extreme q http://gfycat.com/UnfortunateActiveAmethystsunbird

and some pics

perc isn't quite straight but bubbles like a dream

There are some bubbles in the joint going to the mouthpiece, not super worried about them.

also, received a message back from Jane regarding steven's store "have a problem,Stevenwas checking with dhgate, maybe will be normal at the end of this month." sent another message asking if all orders were being fulfilled still, I assume they will be.

**update, was assured that all orders are being fulfilled as normal, the store will be back up on the 30th.

SSS D020: Quite the setup for ~$20. Just the accessories that they give you would cost you more than $30 at the LHS. The piece has very minimal drag, seems well built, smaller than the FC-186 V2. I would keep one if I didn't have so many other pieces. Had 5 of these, they were all the same, some variation in angles the percs were cut and number of perc slits.

http://www.dhgate.com/product/heady...s/229601681.html#myaccount_orderdetail-1-null

GHS (I think they are also CCG) Bearfoot: Pretty cool piece, the colors all looked good with a darker background behind them. If it's too bright behind them they start to look washed out. I really got this for the accessories (dabber and plate). Which are super cool. The inline perc hits ok, I'm not a fan, especially inlines that fire down, they tend to be chuggier and draggier. I'm a function over form kind of guy, so I pass on the heady stuff.

http://www.dhgate.com/product/2015-...s/237425255.html#myaccount_orderdetail-1-null

Steven's FC-1000: This is my go to piece for EVO vaping. I run my EVO on a Claisen with a plug because I want to minimize the wear and tear on the EVO's 18mm male. The position of the MP lets me watch the build hit and milk up in the upper chamber which is super cool. The taste is fantastic due to the pillars. There is some initial resistance to get the water up the pillar pipes, but them it eases up once everything starts going. You can also run the water level low which eliminates the initial resistance, but then I feel you're only getting half the function of the piece, because water goes up all 8 tubes rather than up and down in a recycling way. Steven told me he is making a V2 where the volume of the top can is larger, the pillars are shorter and MP's bottom is slightly tilted to prevent water build up, sounds good, I think I prefer the taller pillars though. Also, I didn't have any cracking issues that most of the users here were reporting and I got mine around the same time. I've checked nervously for a while but nothing, I'm going to count my blessings and just assume I got a good piece from the bad lot.

http://www.dhgate.com/product/advan...s/218127444.html#myaccount_orderdetail-1-null

Steven's FC-186: This is my go to combustion piece. I feel the larger volume and diffusion is a perfect combo for the rare c-bust. There is some initial resistance to the pull due to the inverted perc I guess, I had hoped it would be more like the zero drag of the 187 but that's not the case. There is push back due to the vertical joint.

http://www.dhgate.com/product/2015-...r/216674730.html#myaccount_orderdetail-1-null

Steven's FC-710: Echo what others have said already. Awesome for tasting your oils. This is my daily driver for oils, get a drop down to protect the male joint. I think you can get the function to work with the water level lower, like down the to the U-support, however this just gives the piece more volume for reclaim and why would you want that in an oil piece right? So fill it up to the slant!

http://www.dhgate.com/product/advan...s/218127026.html#myaccount_orderdetail-1-null

Steven's Torus V2: So much better, I have one on my shelf kind of for vapes or combustion, but I rarely do either with it. Mainly have it to show off to friends. Very small initial resistance, then low drag from there. Very easy to get the function to work, super slow drain which is awesome to stare at, though you never get water in your mouth, even if you pull for a really long time. It's because the top of the funnel is so wide, it's holds a lot of water which adds more water pressure below, to encourage it to drain faster when the funnel is fuller. The attention to detail on the neck and mouthpiece are superb and like no other.

http://www.dhgate.com/product/9-inc...s/240757320.html#myaccount_orderdetail-1-null

CCG 9" eggs with colors on inside: I prefer these over the other 9" eggs with colors on the outside. These function very well, I think there are more slits on the perc. Smaller volume which works really well for oil. Some of them are off center on the base, not a big issue.

http://www.dhgate.com/product/mothe...7/239957059.html#myaccount_orderdetail-2-null

Steven's Straight Fab: Turned out much smaller than I expected which is a plus. And Steven told me he was going to make a 200mm tall version, which I think will be even better! Very low resistance pull, functions great, very thick and very nice detail on the MP and neck. Got 5, they were all pretty consistent, some variation in perc height.

Quartz bangers:

http://www.dhgate.com/product/100-q...s/216874578.html#myaccount_orderdetail-1-null
Kathy bangers, they work, they are quartz, haven't cracked, but I would spend a few more bucks and get the 4mm ones from JLHSmoking

http://www.dhgate.com/product/4mm-t...b/242215334.html#myaccount_orderdetail-1-null

JLHSmoking: 4mm bangers are legit AF and getting it without the carb cap saves you a few bucks. Get these over the kathy bangers.

I'm waiting on Steven's FC-707 to arrive. Steven says he's making ball rigs next, followed by Egg. I asked him to queue up the MS FTK after the Egg, he said he would make it, but would take time.

My personal shelf currently consists of the following:
  • FC-710 : oil on the desk
  • Steven S-fab: oil on the desk
  • CCG Egg V3: backup, oil on the desk
  • Steven Mini: oil, beach piece
  • FC-1000 : Vape
  • Yingmin5 Toro XL: Vape
  • Steven Torus V2: Vape/Combust
  • Steven FC-186: Combust
Let me know if you've got questions.

@digigator - awesome reviews :D

--------

:( basically every one of this changes to the FC-1000 sound like a negative to me.

Shorter pillars - why?
They function great currently, what advantage is there to shortening them?

Larger top portion - why?
It seems to be the perfect size to me now...
I wouldn't mind it being a bit bigger, but it seems the only reason it's getting bigger is to keep the piece the same size with the shorter pillars...
I could see it potentially helping the FC-707 tube version which has splashback issues, but I see no point to it on the 1000...

Slanted mouthpiece - for the love of God why?
Zero water pools in the mouthpiece as it is, I've never seen this issue on ANY bubbler. Why does it keep coming up?
If water is coming up into the mouthpiece during a hit - then its too much water in the piece.
If the neck holds enough water that it has some kind of natural perc action without the water splashing up from the hit, then it would call for a design change, but I have literally never encountered this...
IMO it would 100% make any tube with that design element look like a factory reject.

If I saw a listing for a bubbler, and they didn't have massive pictures of the slanted neck, AND a note in the description saying it was intentional, I'd assume it was just exceptionally sloppy construction...

Sorry for the rant, but the FC-1000 is just about perfect from a design POV IMO...

I managed to chip the base of mine (tiny chip, so I'm not replacing it just yet;)) and I would ABSOLUTELY buy another v1 if those v2 changes were going ahead...

Steven's stuff is amazing, and he responds. BUT the FACT IS, I NEVER got my 80 dollar recycler piece. 2x broken, 2x him telling me to order more to get it. 80 bucks in the toilet.

That being said, I tried again (moths later, sorry buddy but my wife will kill me if I keep reordering more stuff I dont need just to get my first bong not broken). He did send me some really nice tea as an apology, but I still never got the piece. (replacement had a leak making it unusable)

That ethic sucks balls. I hope he makes up for it and will report if he does.
