Discontinued The Persei Vaporizer for herbs and concentrates.

same design. our coils already sit low, due to the dual coils some might be off center.
Can we expect a remodeled globe atty? The dual Ti w/ white ceramic is ok, but the AC type skillets blow them out of the water.

A remodeled KISS mini would also KILL, IMO. I guess maybe it would get too hot for the current design, but I love the simplicity of the mini. The 3gen KISS carts look nice, but a super deep skillet mini w/ the new coils could fill the void between EO carts and KISS carts, and probably take the place of KISS and globe cart purchases for AC owners like me who are already owners several of this skillet type.

The Kiss Alpha is the solution to your needs for the Globe.

The Remodeled kiss mini can only hold a single black ceramic and is not powerful enough to run a dual coil, working on Ti coils for it as we speak.

when you mean deep bowl on a kiss mini isnt the kiss mini already deep? its a like a straight tube no?

The new Kiss cartridges are basically a over sized kiss mini with Titanium and Black Ceramic.

Hope this helps.

The remodeled Globe coil you want is the Alpha Centauri coil. The AC coil was created to overcome the limitations of the Globe, the dual coil for example necessitated a larger housing that can't fit inside a Globe.

The remodeled KISS Mini you want is the 3rd Gen KISS cart. Consider this a hybrid of the KISS Mini with the Alpha Centauri Ti coils, except way more capacity than the KISS Mini since it's wider and even easier to fill!

@THC SCIENTIFIC @SamuraiSam thanks for the run down. I guess the reason I say I want a deep skillet is because the oil tends to splatter out when using larger amounts, and then dribble down between the skillet and cart wall. I like that the mini is sealed, but I imagine it's unsafe to heat that sealant any hotter, or all of the carts would be partially sealed to help keep the oil in the right spot.

Just a side note for other experimenters - the KISS Mini fits in be AC, but the bottom pin will need to be swapped (maybe the insulator as well?) to properly contact and fire. I cleaned my dual coil, and it isn't acting properly (I see a hot red wire below coil, and lot of smoking when I fire it) so I'll try swapping it out tonight. If indeed a Ti KISS mini is on its way, I'm sure I'll enjoy one of those upon release.

I really like the simplification of the KISS cart to a 2 part system. The threaded part always seemed superfluous.

I have a persei V4 with a hercules SR-71. I just ordered the Nibbler XL because as a daily driver it has been irritating my throat.

I recieved the Nibbler XL and it appears to only have the top adapter. Every picture and video I have seen has a bottom adapter for the herc as well so that there is the little rubber bands. I only have 1 rubber band on the top adapter.

Was a part missing in the box? What am I missing? I am looking at this video:

The bottom adapter doesn't come with the XL or the 71 it's included with the sr74x I originally had used a file to add a groove to my 71 for a o ring until gary sent me a new adapter with my 8

Weird. That video is misleading then. It would have been nice to be given the option to adding one to my order if that was the case.

How is the video misleading if it shows all the parts that come with a Hercules and a Nibbler XL? The Bottom insulator with o-ring groves comes with every SR-74 and SR-74x.

The SR-71 was introduced before the creation of the Nibbler XL, so the SR-71 closeout sale very specifically states the following in its item description:

"The cartridge will have the older style PTFE insulators that have Hercules 7.4v engraved on it and the bottom adapter will not work with the Nibbler XL."

If you still had questions after reading these statements, giving me a call before purchasing would have been awesome! I could have told you that you needed to buy a new bottom insulator. I'm here to help with any questions BEFORE purchasing so you know that your money will be well spent and all your gear will work!

We have replacement bottom insulators with grooves to accommodate Nibbler XL O-Rings in stock for $10 plus S&H!

Good advice. I feel stupid now for missing all of that. I will add some bottom insulators with grooves to my next order! Thanks Sam. (just ordered! 23351)

So I've found that in many cases lately, the core has really been improving my w9 experience. I set it to 3.7 for the single coil AC skillet, in hopes I could recreate the KISS mini effect.

I was still unable to bathe the coil by partially filling the skillet (as I would with a mini) without losing most of my crumble to splatter. Splatter in a KISS mini is contained to the inside of the unit, and the mouthpiece (and is pretty minimal using the core @3.7v). Run a proper tool around the inside once, and you've collected everything worth attempting to recover.

In the instance of the KISS AC, splatter is on the removable globe piece, in between the threads, the inside and outside of the skillet, all over the base...

The two tests I ran (had to make sure it wasn't a fluke) resulted in a substantial loss. I was able to recover much of it, but I do not think I will try using it as anything other than a 1 or 2 hit at a time LayG system going forward. I had been treating it like the 7.4v KISS carts (load a tiny bit, pulse a bit for 1 hit, reload before hitting again), and I think i will go back to that method.

Also, here are a few tear down pics to illustrate the interesting change in the skillet structure. The air path has been shifted deeper, to accommodate the deeper-set coils.

Sharp draws to move air through the herb once the conduction from the hot glass has started helps me. Sharp cigar type puffs stacked on top of each other in quick succession give me denser vapor with the Bender. I can take a lungful like this, hold it for just a second, exhale over my tongue... really rich, tasty stuff.

Fill material on the moist side seems to work really well, and releases lots of aromatics with a big safety window before any chance of combustion occurs. A nice fluffy grind from my Santa Cruz also produces fill that is slightly easier to keep from combusting than some of the other denser grinds I've tried in the past. A lot of it is technique, it takes many sessions to find good draw techniques and power application methods that give max vapor while not combusting.

Just figured I'd drop in and square things up.
A while back I was ranting and raving about the way w9 was handling my warranty claim.
@SamuraiSam got with me through PM and resolved the problem...
IMO,he is an awesome guy and is going to be of some great much needed help to w9 and us as he is showing to be an awesome CS rep.
It's taking some time to get used to but the V4 is growing on me, loving all the features and a flush mounting herc.is great.
The kiss ac was giving me a hard time on the v4 quick chat with Sam had that resolved.
All this Bender chat got me needing a Bender then I need a core. Is there a new core coming out? @THC SCIENTIFIC and what about v2 iris?
Ohoh looks like someone is jumping back on the W9 train.
Actually never got off just a little ranting and raving.

And again thanks for getting me straight...

@ragnorokk do this, take the ceramic wick from the 1701 and place it on top of your coils that should contain it, we are working on deeper dish coils and will let everyone know once they are ready.
I did this right when you suggested it a bit back. There was a bit of a learning curve, as its tough to saturate the black wick when it's not warmed, and warming it to temp can burn oil on the coil, if there wasn't enough coating the coil at all times.

The dual coil died on me after cleaning, and I felt like it did a better job heating the full wick than a single coil. I found that loading the coil and the bottom of the donut wick first with my wax was good to keep from burning, and then I could load from the top, too.

Can't wait to try the new "deep dish" skillets when they're ready.

Is the persei suitable for rosin?

Thanks
The Persei can handle pretty much any concentrate depending on what cart you use I personally prefer the herc/nibbler combo for amazing taste and very large hits

Also from what I've seen of rosin it can be pretty clean so you shoulde t have any trouble with the kiss carts or kiss alpha either

From my reading rosin should be "full melt". Anything which is full melt should work great in any of the W9 carts.

As an aside I'm curious to see if the rosin extraction process takes off. I have never had the opportunity to try it myself but it sounds fairly easy and is solventless which is a huge plus.

Anyone tried "live resin"? I had some fresh recently, and it was amazing - the flavor was immense. Had some from a batch the week before - not as tasty, more like brushing my teeth with a nug (different strain, but my buddies have said they find the batches seem to lack shelf stability). The potency was closer to that of wax (~70%), but the freshest run was so tasty... Worth trying if its near the price of a budder or wax. Not crazy potent like rosin, but an interesting twist.

Rosin is promising as a concept, but there needs to be some specific equipment engineered for larger scale production. The current techs need some tweaking for larger scale production (my favorite so far involved a foreman grill), so we can all enjoy some rosin at a reasonable price -- at least that's all I could find when I looked it up in February, maybe people have come up with something better... Rosin has been around since the 70's, but sort of fades away every time it gains popularity -- that's plenty of time for someone to have engineered something better, but I wasn't having much luck looking up a larger scale process (or a more efficient one) earlier this year.

A Hercules fully loaded with some rosin would definitely be a game changer, as far as a device that breaks me immediately and rarely needs reloading... Maybe I'll try to convince my friends to work on a new technique.

@THC SCIENTIFIC Can you tell us more about the recent modifications to the Kiss Globe dual Ti coil carts?

I noticed the most recent ones seem different than the first batch. The grade 2 Ti wire seems thicker than the kind used on globe coils in the past. Also the ceramic cup looks much more shallow than before. The two coils now sit flush with the lip of the cup just like the Kiss AC dual coil carts.

@elmoe420 or anyone else who's used both Nibbler G and Okeanos v2:

I see from your sig you have both :) - how would you describe the relative cooling and moisturizing of these two? Similar? Nibbler is better? I'm trying to decide between the two. They sort of seem to occupy similar space. I'm trying to understand why one would choose one vs the other.

I'd be using this with an Omi HVD. I'm deliberately leaving the coil choice out of the equation for the moment as that's a whole other variable that confuses the decision :)

Thanks for any comments!
