  • 30 Second Heat Time (Really that depends on ambient temp - i can get 30 second heat time to green if its hot out

So I just timed mine. Cool to the touch, 69F room, 26.1 seconds to solid green. Agreed ambient temp is a factor (it'll take longer lce fishing), but for 'normal room temperature' that seems mighty fast to me, and on the 'safe side' of half a minute.

That much is impressive so far......at least to me. Nice feature for grabbing a quick hit or two?

All this ranting about PIU and the imag+... hmmmmmm.

I've dealt with Randy for years, so know he is one of the best - if not THE best. Now because of all the noise on the previous page I'll have to order the imag+ on special so I can see for myself. Am guessing that person is selling a few of these for Randy today. :dog:

EDIT: FWIW, I placed my order right after this post using the code for the imag+ which was in stock. I had an order confirmation within literally 2 minutes. Chose free shipping so no tracking info, but if history is any indication it should still be to me by Friday on the other side of the country. Will try to remember to post here once it arrives.

Also... Maybe I'm mistaken but I thought the imag had a little removable piece for wax/oil?! Am I crazy??
I did hear about wax/oil.
Not sure, think they did away with you can read back something about v6 v7 can't remember also not interested... I think it's just a couple pages back.

They might (anything seems possible these days), but mine didn't come with one. I suspect 'the old cotton trick' would work here too.

And yes, I vote you are crazy. Not necessarily for this of course. While it's not a requirement for membership (AFAIK), it does seem mighty common around sometimes?

Glad folks are 'giving Randy the business'. I've got mine, neener neener. Interesting vape so far, reminds me of Pinnacle somehow (perhaps the shape or 'whistle tip' MP). Deceptively heavy.

I'm not sure what version is out there, but the original version (SS bowl, no removable scree) had the wax/oil SS basket. From what I remember and what I've read a while ago was that it wasn't that effective with the concentrates and was hard to clean. I think they stopped making it after that, but I could be wrong. It's been a while since v1

You're right, it wasted your concentrates and doesn't give like any vapor, good riddance, cotton is the better choice, the cup really reduced heat transfer.

.....it wasted your concentrates and doesn't give like any vapor, good riddance..... the cup really reduced heat transfer.

This seems to be a common fate. I suspect it happens when a Suit (Sales type) asks the fatal question 'how are we going to make this work with concentrates?'. IMO a halfhearted late attempt at best. The idea defies the rules of thermodynamics since for any useful flow of heat (in calories) through it a temperature drop (in degrees) is going to happen due to insulation effects. This means if the output temperature (the walls of the oven, measured in degrees) is held constant (as it is) the temperature inside has to be less. And we need higher than 'normal' for concentrates?

By the time you own it..........

You can't simply 'bump up the temperature' (even if the unit allows.....) since when you stop the draw this will drive the load temperature too high as the heat transfer (and therefore temperature drop) lessens. Them's the rules.

We see this is Ascent (glass jars) and DV (metal cans) for instance. Not hard to predict.

Thanks for the info guys! This is a really helpful place to come for any question that comes up!

Really excited for my iMag+ to get here.. It will be my first personal vape. I have a little experience with vaping (one friend has a pax2 and another has a volcano) but I was really looking to get some kind of stealthy portable that has decent heat up times.. I'm really intrigued by the Grasshopper but just didn't want to wait until September at the earliest! So when the opportunity came up to get the imag for 55 bucks I couldnt pass it up..

As far as the oil/wax thing is concerned I'm not overly worried about it, as I don't have a real good source for either but I wouldn't mind to have the option... I know I've scanned over different post about the cotton trick but just to be sure, what is the best way to go about it? I'm assuming the cotton has no problem with the Heat it is subject to?

Thanks again for all the info!!

I'm so embarrassed! :ugh: I was wrong about PIU.

Ordered with free shipping and said above I wasn't worried about no tracking number because I had no doubts it would still reach me cross country by Friday.

Damn was I wrong!! I got an email today telling me my order had shipped at 12:30 pm EDT - not bad at all for order placed at 8:37 pm EDT last night. Same email included my tracking number - and info there indicates it is coming 2 day priority shipping!!!! YEAH MAN

Guess this confirms it.... PIU is THE BEST vendor out there. Service better than Amazon Prime, but doesn't cost an extra $100/year.

Can't wait to try this puppy out!

Basically you just wrap your concentrate in a small wad of cotton and have at it. Usually a good idea to check every couple hits and make sure nothing gooey is dripping where it shouldn't be. Check this thread for tons of info! Hemp fiber can be hard to find, but I like it better than cotton. It imparts a little taste, but will usually go longer than cotton before it does and doesn't taste as bad IMO.

I'll put this on PIU thread but deserves to be here...
Ordered 5:00 PM Monday 10:30 am Wednesday on charger with 4pc aluminum grinder & misc.tool's x-Mp

Thanks Randy & PIU

Cool, glad you're happy. By all means spread the good word, but here you're kinda preaching to the choir? Such service is 'everyday' for PIU. I once got a replacement in my hands less than 24 hours from my email to Randy the unit was DOA. UNDER one day, email to door (and that included the random USPS factor).

I've finally tripped him up. It's now been six hours since my last order and still no shipping notice with tracking number???? OK, so I ordered it at 3AM local time..........

I don't know about you, but I like supporting an outfit like that that supports us so well. IMO PV is another such dealer. Both strong supporters of this Forum.

Edit: OK, fair's fair. I just checked email, Randy and company shipped my package at 9:05 local time, a bit over six hours overall but mighty impressive! No moss growing there.....

No doubt...
Haven't had the pleasure of doing business with PV.but I have with vaporwarehouse there also great.
Long time supporter of PIU...

Thought's on Imag+ seems air flows through entire unit.
Would of been happier if draw stopped after blocking air holes on side. Could only stop draw by blocking two holes & charging port.
With that being said its nice and heavy in hand and a quality build. Getting nice tasty vapor on green tried all settings no combusting.Heat's up very fast 30/40 sec.
Overall it will do just fine for what I need it for.

Well shit. At $55 I guess I'm going to have to pull the trigger on one of these. Looks like a decently made, competitively priced portable that should hold me over until the verdict is in on the GH.
One question, what's the material around the ceramic heating element?
In the PIU photo I see the herb chamber with white ceramic walls, then there's some black material around that and some brass colored material around that. Can anyone give a breakdown of the materials used?
Also intrigued by the easy butter thing they're selling. Anyone tried it?

Hi Everybody!

Thank you FC for supporting us, you have no idea how grateful we are for your support.

The Imag's sold out faster than we could of possibly expected. I still have some left, if they are marked as out of stock just shoot me an email randy@puffitup.com and we will hook you up. I want to make sure FC members get their vapes before anyone else does. We have a large order placed so hopefully this is the last time we sell out.

Just want to clarify that we have the ceramic version. This no longer includes the concentrate cup. If you want to dab in the imag, all natural cotton works wonders.

@wolfJflywheel The Easy butter makers are awesome. For lazy people like me, infusing butter within a few minutes with no mess is a great option. You can also make butter the ol Samuel Jackson Method, which works great.

@OF Sorry we don't ship at 3am but we will work on it lol. Thanks for supporting us!

@Phatguy You are right about some of the errors in our description and we will get that fixed, most those were already corrected in our review of the product. We do the best we can to be honest and accurate but eventually I am going to make a mistake. Shut off time is 3 minutes, on my imag I get about 50 minutes of battery life. The heat up time on mine is about 30 seconds, Ill be happy to double check. If you see any other inaccuracies let us know and we will fix them. As far as false reviews, dummy websites, funding campaigns and affiliates go, we don't do any of that. We know the bribery game all too well, I get emails every single day asking for free stuff in return for favorable reviews, we never ever do this... ever.

Anyways, we will continue to follow this thread to hear what the imag fans do and don't want. Thank you again FC

-Randy

Hey Randy,

Planning to place my order later today, might have to contact you if the Imag in my cart throws an error when I try to checkout. Yeah, I've been using a similar method to the one you linked. Getting tired of stirring the pot for an hour and squeezing out hot cheesecloth though, so my vaped bud has been collecting for too long. Think I'll pull the trigger on the easy butter maker to save myself that hassle in the future. Is it safe to throw on the stove with a 20 minute timer and leave unattended while I'm in the other room? Also, does the Imag have a swappable battery or will it have to be recharged after every ~50 minutes of use?

I bought this from PIU as a "bridge vape” to get me through the summer while I wait for the Grasshoppers to ship. Thanks to @CarolKing for the heads up. This is the “ceramic” model with the copper ring. PIU service was great as others have described. For me, during the summer, I want something pocketable that I can carry with me on vacations with extended family without attracting attention (looking like an e-cig doesn’t help here). I also want something I can take into festivals, etc, and carry around with me all day. I’ve used the Imag+ for a few days now, still on the first charge after ~5 reloads, but here are my impressions so far:

Like:
  • Very easy/fast to use, operate, clean, and re-load.
  • Feels comfortable in hand when using, easy to carry around the house
  • Fast 30-second startup contributes to short sessions, which is great on-the-go
  • Convenient micro-USB charging with what should be all-day battery life in most situations
  • Great value for the price
  • Good for travel when transported in bag or backpack
  • Looks like a fat e-cig (good in certain situations)
Neutral
  • Performance respectable for a conduction vape. Reminds me of the original Pax on a good day. Vapor is warm, never too warm, in some ways this brings out more flavor. Efficiency not bad, not great. Works with different load sizes. Does the job.
Don’t Like
  • Mouthpiece gets noticeably warm / hot by the end of 3 minute cycle. Nothing terrible though.
  • This thing feels a little too big and bulky to be stealthy in all situations. A little too big to be easily pocketable…likely too big to “crotch” past security. (“is that an imag+ in your pocket, or…?”)

Comments:

For the price this thing is great. Its easy to use and just works. My other recent vapes are the Solo, Ascent, and occasionally the Mighty. I don’t think the imag+ outperforms any of these from an overall vapor quality standpoint, but its still perfectly serviceable. On pure ease-of-use, the Imag+ might just beat them all. For all but the most serious vaporizer snobs, this could be a great daily driver.

In terms of the mouthpiece, it does feel fragile compared to the rest of the Imag+. I still worry that it could come off in a jeans pocket if I am carrying around all day, but I haven’t tested it enough to know. That little metal perforated screen on the mouthpiece does tend to get clogged with loose ABV a lot, but I brush it off after each bowl and its fine. I think that screen is there in part to restrict draw so you don’t pull too hard, so I am staying with it for now.

@OF suggested “seems to me its a good candidate for a loaner to newbies?” and I think this sums it up well. I don't mean that in a condescending way. This is a good vape that I would strongly recommend for someone who doesn’t want to spend $200+. Once I get my GH, I am thinking of giving this imag+ to a medical patient I know who is still combusting. That said, for the price I might still buy a second Imag+ just to have in a pinch.

I’m really hoping the Grasshopper lives up to its promise, and when I get my GH I will certainly compare it to the Imag+. A lot of the Imag+ strengths are what I am hoping to get from the GH. But the Imag+ is a great example of what happens when you design a pen vape with a standard battery size…you end up with a really thick-looking pen vape. I can certainly understand why the GH folks went with a custom battery now. Based on the early GH reviews, I am also expecting vapor performance on the GH to be like night and day compared with the Imag+. But we shall see. For now I am enjoying my time with the Imag+.

Spot on @fft thanks for the great review.

Have you tried adding a little silicone tubing to the imag? This reduces the heat of the vapor

Of course you didn't, and neither did I. We were all newbies once? It's an easy to use, reliable (at least t his far) unit as far as I can tell. Serious guys will probably quickly 'outgrow' it and move on, but as you say it has a potential 'second life' if passed on or held in 'backup status' (you need a reliable back up vape as insurance against backsliding to blazing in the event of hardware problems with the main vape if nothing else).

"A lot of bang for the buck" as they say. IMO a bargain at $55.......
