Did you guys see the new swag in the sublimator store? I was going to buy this shirt, but when I go through the checkout the shipping comes out to more than the shirt itself! Looks like I'll have to wait until I buy my next sub to get one! lol

My stainless steel apollo XLR unit results in slightly burned weed at any temperature higher than #5 on the dial while using indoors only. This happens after 45-60 mins of being on. When I use it outside it seems to work on the numbers it should (6-8). Even when I keep the unit on #4 for an hour or 2 (indoors), the handle will get slightly warm sometimes, and noticeably warmer on any number higher. Does anybody else run their unit at #5 or less on the dial for weed when inside?

I was having issue's with scorching.I have had to send it back for warranty.Mine was only reading 36v on the xlr outlet even when adjusting the wheel. So they said to send it back.

Have you received a new on yet? If so, is the problem solved? Also how did you find out it was only 36v?

I checked the voltage with a voltmeter as i thought it was not adjusting.I only sent it back 2 days or so ago so i am waiting.I had to pay shipping cost's there which i knew.I hope i do not have to pay for the return though.

Ok. Please let me know how it goes. They replaced my entire unit (they acknowledged the scorching), but my new unit still gets way too hot. I might have to wait until Enrico comes to Toronto to show him the issue in person.

If you are not sure get a voltmeter or someone with one and check the monkey box output.I told them i did this and they said thanks for checking it and it is not right and send the head and monkey box in.I doubt they will ever come to uk i may catch Enrico on one of the live show's though.

I run mine at less than #5, I'm not in front of mine but I usually have it so two green LED's are lit and it turns out a medium to darker orange but never black. I always smoke in doors in the garage and temperature ranges from about 10C - 22C on average, it was colder last month.

I'm just curious if somebody can explain the scientific principle behind the Sublimator. Is the sublimator some kind of gimmick?

On their website they say:

The gas particles are finer than your standard vapor molecule making them easier on the lungs and body to absorb as the particles have a perfect atomic size. http://www.sublimator.ca/technology/

From my limited scientific knowledge, I always imagine gas particle to be already the smallest size possible. For example, water is made of 2 hydrogenes and one oxygene molecule. It's called H20. When it's in gas form, it is still H2O. If you break down H20 further with fission or something like that, then it's not water anymore. It loses its water property.

The same principle applies to other molecule than water like THC. Of course the THC molecule is a bit more complex as it's a combinaton of many Hydrogone, carbone, etc (C21H30O2). So when the THC molecule (C21H30O2) is already in it's gas form because of vaporization. There's no use to reheat this molecule, it will stay THC/C21H30O2!! Even if you turned it into smaller molecules it would not be THC anymore. The THC and cannabinoids needs to maintain their form to be active in our body.

So is the Sublimator (possibly a great vaporizer) some kind of gimmick? On the other hand the videos of people using the Sublimator are very nice. You can see people getting nice thick vapor. So it's certainly a nice vaporizer, but it's doing nothing special beside vaporizing, that is turning cannabinoids into gas form below combustion temp.

I don't see any scientific principle to explain how re-heating the vaporizing gas does something special to the gas, much less turn cannabinoids molecules into smaller ones!

I noticed this (J3) header also after I looked at the photos more and I sent them to a friend yesterday who is a chip expert and is very familiar with JTAG also, he might know what we can do or have some ideas how we can communicate.

The good thing is Enrico mentioned the chip was unlocked so getting the code won't be a problem but it would be nice if a simple method could be made for the end user by perhaps connecting a header to that JTAG that a might have a button and a chip with new code, press and hold button for three seconds to enter programming mode and then each button press adds one hour, press and hold again exits programming mode.

Beyond my capabilities and my time but I think you get the idea, a simple and easy way to interface to the board and then a simple way for the end user to modify their own controller by attaching to the jtag and maybe drilling a hole to add a button to the side of the controller etc. that would allow the timer to be changed.

Also I noticed the TX/RX in the one corner of the board and maybe it was just used for diagnostics when uploading the firmware or something else, would be nice if it was a serial interface that we could send commands for temp settings and on/off commands.

I know Enrico also mentioned in the past that the new controller would have a feature to turn on wireless, perhaps they plan to implement a cheap RF remote to turn it on or off or if they wanted to get real fancy they could use zigbee or something and create phone apps to control and monitor the temperature as well as turn it on and off.

Then there is the EXT SW H3 & H4 terminals. You put that with the second relay and you have the possibility of a dual heater controller.

What the Sub does that seems different than other vapes is,, it takes one ground up bongload and in one normal hit it will completely extract all the goodness out of it... So instead of sipping ,,, on a whip or a bag for me it was like doing bongs which I was accustomed to..

It also taste awesome, makes huge clouds of vapor...

I think I've heard either my Pops or Enrico refrer the the vapor as " an aresol " and I guess it is an aresol..

It's a metal funnel with a screen in it with a small hole at the bottom and a electric heater on top with some hole in it ( how hard is that to make? ) ... All machined and put together very well.. Then I think Enrico went to the cheapest old lamp factory in China and got some shady dimmer switches and timer boxxes and old brown extension cords from 1957 ..................but damn it works good

My homemade v.1.1 sublimator box can already do that

I believe all vapor is particles suspended in aerosol so I don't think the sub is any different.

Agreed on the taste, but I don't think the sub actually gives us "all the goodness" from flower in a single hit, because much of that goodness collects as sublimate to be consumed separately. That's why I like using my sub dry with flowers in the daytime, it gives me that nice head high that doesn't bring my body down like full convection extractions can do. Also hitting it dry through the launchtube I can get that great taste, and usage is still somewhat economical compared to using twice as much through water with in aab mode.

What are the numbers on the chip on the green PCB on the back. Does it have 555 in the code printed on it?

Fuck, I never even saw that! I had suggested a long time back that a 555 timer would be the simplest way I could think that they might have put the timer into the sub. I'm gonna buy another sub if you work out a solution to this one lol

Can anyone compare/contrast the
Sublimator UFO - $220
http://www.planetvape.ca/sublimator-ufo-kit.html

Sublimator Eliminator - $330
http://www.planetvape.ca/sublimator-eliminator-titanium-kit.html
for me?

From What I can tell -
- They are both flame powered
- The UFO is SS,
The Eliminator is Ti
- The UFO comes with an SS Atomizer (Or option for no Atomizer)
The Eliminator comes with Ti Atomizer
- The UFO seems to be flowers only
The Eliminator seems to be dual purpose Flowers/Oils
- The Eliminator comes with a carb cap

I like the idea of a flame powered sub - this could be my Zombie Apocalypse Vape

The Idea of getting just the UFO heater for $120 seems tempting, but having a Ti Atomizer which comes with the Eliminator also sounds appealing...

Also, How does the v4 Ti enail head (http://www.planetvape.ca/sublimator-xlr-2.0-titanium-v4-e-nail-with-carb-cap.html) compare to a regular enail?

Well for one thing, the v4 ti enail head is huge, bigger than a lot of regular enails.

However, I would not bother with it personally since it is ti. In fact, if I were to buy an enail now, I wouldn't even use quartz or ceramic. I'd jump straight to SiC so I can have my cake and eat it too in terms of the very best of taste, even heat distribution and durability :D

With this said, I've no doubt that the new ti nail with carb cap would hands down be better than all the prior subs, and I believe this one is good with flowers according to Enrico in one of his videos with Bubbleman!

Still, there is no change that has been made to the sub yet which has convinced me that the sub would be better than anything but the most rudimentary cheap ti enail for dabbing! The sub is great for dabbing reclaim and less tasty (or especially bad tasting) oils because the taste is muddied by all the other stuff that has been through your sub. It also gives epic clouds with any oil, but if I were you guys I'd keep your tastiest shatters for a proper enail on ceramic, SiC or quartz!

What we really need is an SiC sub! I yearn for the day!!!

Can anyone recommend a good way of cleaning the original sublimator base? I bought the pre-sale unit and my piece itself is gunked right up. No folks not the atomizer, the actual pre-sale unit with the plastic tube etc :)

Soak a cotton ball or hemp fibers in iso alcohol, and use it to clean up the clear acrylic tube.
Then you can reclaim later, this also works for the aluminum launchtube parts

I think the sub works great for dabbing, you just need to ISO clean it regularly.
I wouldn't buy it as an e-nail though or buy the purely e-nail version.
If you're usually using flowers and only sometimes using oils it's well worth it though.

I was looking to get a Sub but I cant decide on which one;the Apollo or the dabmaster then which finish to get it in. I heard the SS Apollo works great. Also the sub e-nail with carb cap as caught my eye.I was wondering if I could get some input on which one I should get. I heard that the TI is not worth getting.

Thanks for your time.

I purchased the Ti Dabmaster and since I never used the SS I don't really know the difference in regards to taste, I mostly use the sub for flowers with the occasional (few times a week at most) dabberdoo . I purchased the Ti Dabmaster because it was supposed to have a quicker heat up time but it wasn't until I received it that I realized that my reasoning is kinda pointless as the Atomizer is still SS and needs to be heated up the same as the Ti Heating Device......smh

So until they have the kits with the Ti Atomizer and Heating Device I'd stick with the SS Version.

I am waiting on a wattmaster to get to the bottom of my heat issues.
I need to know whether it is ambient temps or a faulty unit.
