What is the "mildest" vape experience without water

I know that this is subjective but I've also read comments about some vaporizers being harsh or leading to coughing. I'm curious which vaporizers are least likely to lead to coughing without water.
So far the Solo is the only one that I can use without water.

Vapor by its nature will irritate your throat. Some people are more sensitive than others. Using a vape with a long whip, like the HA or DBV at low temps might help. Higher temps tend to irritate my throat. Otherwise, a bong or bubbler cools the vapor and filters particulates.

Also, there has been discussion about the particle size effecting the smoothness of the vapour. Also, been discussion of vape "signatures." The Daisy, MV, Evo, Sub, FF, and others ... have all been mentioned in regards to smoothness of dry vapour. Perhaps the S&B portables with their cooling units.

Thanks. Do I need to read the separate vaporizer threads to get the "signature" info?

Just for me I find the ascent to be my "softest" vaporizer. It surprises me seeing how it is a conduction vape.

Vapman is very smooth .. it has a short vapour path but it has 3 inlet holes which let fresh air in to mix with the vapour before inhaling.

Even an LSV (known to many as a cloud machine) with a whip, small well placed load, correct power setting and good breath control will produce very mild airy hits. However you can do the same thing with many vapes its just figuring how to dial the vape in to get what you want.

I have had a range of mild examples like :
sipping tea, fume-y, breathing in a mist, just a small aerosol-like aftertaste, or say the taste of small water droplets or nearly no taste at, Just visible vapor.

Usually lower power/heat settings, slower heating times and longer vapor path to allow for that cooling, can contribute to taming any harshness without water filtration. And being patient.

For me the Ascent with the stock stem was the smoothest/mildest vape I have owned. With its precise temperature control you can get some seriously low temp smooth tasty hits. You will not see much vapor though.


Personally I prefer the thick vapor from my Daisy which sometimes makes ne cough.

The vapman can do mild but you will need to be a ninja with that torch lighter so as not to go too hot and get thick vapor.

Normally I would say it's all about the user. But a couple of months ago I got an Herbalaire and it has some differences that struck me. The unit was designed to be used with whole nugs, and the temp tops out at 400F. At first I thought this was a drawback or limitation. But the herb always comes out completely spent, and I have confirmed this by putting the abv in Herbie at full power...I got nothing. But the hits always strike me as very smooth. And it makes sense given the temp is capped at 400 and the whole nugs means no grinding which means way fewer particulates in your vapor stream! Look into it!

Every vape works differently, this can make them medicate the body differently. Some people like to switch vapes every few days/weeks to prevent their body from "Adjusting". Others need to use several different vapes to get medicated in the same session (start with one vape, finish with another).

This is partially why people go a little overboard collecting vapes - even if you have a high tolerance with one vape, switching to another vape could knock you on your ass with the same load size.

I honestly think the main reason why the Ascent vaporizer offers a smooth hit is because it's diluting the vapor. The retractable mouthpiece design allows fresh airflow into the vapor path. This makes the clouds less dense, therefor fooling people into thinking it isn't a "powerful vape" because they can't rip a huge cloud

If you replace the retractable mouthpiece with a straight 14mm waterpipe adapter and seal the vaporpath, you'll find the hits are MUCH harsher if you jump right up to high temperatures with a fresh load.

I still really enjoy the flavor from my Ascent. I've used 10 other vaporizers since getting my Ascent, not one can produce the extremely aromatic flavors I get in the 330-345F range with the Ascent. (Which is funny considering it's a conduction vaporizer - so many people get caught up on "Convection is king" - no it's not. It's a method of heat transfer - how the vape uses that heat is what determines how the vape will perform)

The Firefly has the coolest vapor I've ever experienced, with or without water. Not sure that meets your criterion of mild (I've certainly coughed from the FF) but for me it's the least harsh, least hot vapor I've had from any device. You can control the temps pretty easily, so you can keep it on the lighter side pretty reliably.

tbh volcano is "smoother" than my mighty. Havent tested too many vaporizers except MFLB (joke), volcano and mighty.. But mighty still rules volcano cuz bags sux

For a portable the only one I own that Never makes me cough is the vapman, the solo actually can give me coughing fits if I vape above 4 and I need the medical benefits at the higher temps from 5-7.

with desktops using a whip with the Vapolution Vapor Barrel works best for me to smooth out the hits, if I use a water tool I cough up a lung every time.

Bags can be smooth since they cool the vapor while sitting. Bags blown with the Herbalaire are very smooth when done with whole nugs.

Everybody has a different tolerance with the harshness factor. I know you asked about the mildest vaporizers, I don't know if this answers that question. Some modifying will help, a different mouthpiece can make all the difference in a portable like the Solo or the Air by Arizer.

I use a Vortex stem, that seems to smooth the vapor out for me.
I would try the Solo on heat level 2, 3 or 4 using an extended stem like the Vortex stem. I would use the lowest setting on the Air. Sometimes just using a lower setting on the dial does wonders.

The Vaponic for the same reason but I only can compare with the MFLB and the E-Nano which are both more harsh. However it might be a little bit unfair because the E-Nano gives denser vapor and can be as smooth if I mix air manual while vaping.
