Discontinued The Grasshopper

I think you mean the shipping thread. This is the official one. I confuse the two almost every time. baltik said the spring-loaded back end came loose and a warranty replacement is on the way to him.
Interesting. Sounds like it was maybe just poorly assembled, hopefully that's all it was.

Sounds like it . Not sure what was up with my first unit, but I'll get an email when they find out....could just be from assembly issues or a bad temperature sensor.

When you hire workers for assembly - it does take some time to get it right...I'm sure the team will be paying extra attention to make sure they're trained well.

My new hopper is working great and has become my favorite vaporizer due to unparalleled convenience.

What's funny is, I find myself not using the silicone tip anymore except as an adapter for my water tubes/pipes/glass. The unit cools down fast enough that I've gotten used to it, although the silicone tip comes in handy for sharing with friends.

You're basing your conclusion on how people use a traditional vaporizer. Yes this vaporizer looks suspiciously like a pen, but that's not where the stealth factor ends.

This vaporizer has a 5 second heatup time. Literally you can pull out of your pocket, click, wait 5 seconds, take a drag, click off, and put back in your pocket. Technically, you don't need to be "walking down the street sucking on a chunky pen".

There isn't any other herb vaporizer on the market nearly as stealthy as this vaporizer. Sure with concentrates there are a bunch of stealthy options, but dry herbs are harder to vaporize.

To me, the stealth factor is cool, but I'm personally excited about owning a small instant-access vaporizer allowing me to get a quick single puff before going about my business. All my other portable vaporizers require at least a 5-10 minute commitment

I rarely take my vapes outside of my house, but I ordered my Grasshopper for these reasons as well.

I have my first child on the way (haven't even told most of my friends yet, lol) and decided that I should probably get rid of most of my vapes/glass as I won't be able to just leave them out on the table anymore. I don't want to have to take out a vape/glass in my shut bedroom, plug it in, turn in on, wait for it to heat up, put herb in my bubbler, etc, just to get a quick hit. I want/need a small, efficient, and most importantly, FAST way to take quick hits and be able to stash the unit away immediately afterwards.

For me, the Grasshopper looks like it will tick all these boxes. Sure, it probably won't provide the cool and smooth vapor that I'm used too with my Nano/Mobius setup, but the "one hitter" quickness of it will more than make up for it in my mind.

So far, the failure rate is higher than the success rate (based on reports- there may well be GH's in the wild whose owners are keeping mum)

@Just Justin do you happen to live in the Holland area?
No, I live in Northern MI

I agree, I usually don't use the silicone mouthpiece either and like you said it really cools down fast and it doesn't get that hot especially on the lower temps. If you inhale on the mouthpiece further up it's also much cooler instead of the very tip where all the hot vapor passes through

I was thinking in social situations, just rolling up some cardboard about the diameter of a cigarette and cutting it into 1-inch lengths. That way everyone in the circle gets their own (Germs!) disposable session extender. The silicon is nice but I'd rather have something single use.

@Just Justin @midgetsanchez Like you guys, I am also not using my mouthpiece most of the time. I use it with the glass, but rarely otherwise. When I take a large draw, I click it off, and continue pulling for another second or two, then I grab the tip in my hand fairly tightly for a few seconds, my hand will pull most of the warmth from the unit, if you do this after each draw, it never really goes beyond warm.

Actually by my count reliablity is in the lead, @Just Justin and @BuzzDanklin have 3 working units vs. the 2 that got sent back and both those replacements seem to be working so it's 5 good 2 bad, clearly not perfect but adding in that the two that failed, failed right away and the ones that have been out the longest have no operational problems tends in my mind to be an issue of specific defective parts or assembly rather than a systemic production or endemic design flaw issue. Just my guess, but don't go by me, I'm no engineer, just a simple country lobbyist ;-)

I think the GH is about as stealthy as a vape can get. It's really not much bigger than a regular pen and it heats up almost instantly so you can be quick and discrete with your hits. Plus there are plenty of e-cigs out there and no one minds them really so if I saw someone hitting the GH going down the street, I would probably think it was an e-cig.......
As far as stealth is concerned ...fisting your hand around the pen and leaving the mouthpiece slightly exposed to allow for a draw could pretty much just look like a cover for a yawn or holding back a burp or a cough. Who's gonna know, notice, or care?;) This form factor is stealthy like no other (except maybe the Pax2). I'm going to walk down a crowded downtown street and go to town with this hopper, and walking the dog will be just that for all concerned - just walking the dog!

Stealth is also about when your dad, daughter, or boss see it sitting on a table or in a bag and they don't give it a second look. By this definition, looking like an e-cig isn't always a good thing. This is where the Pax shines. The GH is also designed for this type of stealth imo...

Nice tip, that seems to really help with the heat. Clever

Here's a little something but it's kind of common sense: You can keep the chamber of the GH sparkling clean if you just take a q-tip and quickly swab the chamber walls while its still warm and then you won't ever need to use alcohol to clean the chamber.

Excited and hoping to get my hopper next month. This will be my first vaporizer I have purchased.so I can't compare it to another . All I need is the one hit on and off a few times. To get me going I hope. I'm wanting to share this experience with my friend who has never used one before. I told her that it is something that will benefit the both of us. Being that where we live the grasshopper will fit right into our daily outings.

@Just Justin, how's that review coming along? Haven't seen any updates over there in a while.

Thanks for checking in. I am really off to a slow start, been busy with other things but I should have some information up this weekend, along with some new photos.

I am doing more testing with the GH, keeping track of battery life, how the new insulation compares to the pre-production model, different ABV temperature tests, more comparisons to my pre-production introduction and a lot more, so I have been holding back until I have more information. By next week I hope to have a good portion of it posted but until then I will try to keep everyone updated and add a few things here and there. All I can say is that the Grasshopper has become my favorite portable vaporizer because its so powerful, portable and practical. It's just great to be able to have an instant, potent hit anytime and it's just fun to use. I really enjoy the design and feel of the GH.

I will also be working on the MiVape review here shortly if they keep there word and release it by the end of June so if your interested in that vape, check out my site in the weeks to come.

On another note, has anyone who got their units, received the magnetic charger besides Buzz or are all of you using the external charger? Has anyone heard when they may ship the magnetic chargers?

Hey Buzz, is this for the Ti or the SS GH? Or does this technique work with both?

@budballer definitely works with both, the SS gets a bit hotter, so you will have to hold/wait it a bit longer though.

Here is a Photo I took with the GH and my morning coffee the other day.
