MiniVAP Vaporizer

@reefersutherland - let's get your technique figured out.

Use the large basket and just fill it loosely to the top. I like to slightly overfill it and then tamp it down slightly. Then attach that to the flexicone (with the top screen you are using) and connect it to the underside of the lid. Then attach your mouthpiece. Then put the fully assembled lid on the core. Turn the unit on to red and let it heat up. Once it is up to temp, drop it down two settings (to the second temp) and let it stabilize to the temp. Once it has hit the temp, give it a slow, short pull to get some heat into the basket. Wait a second and give it a nice, slow, long drag. This hit should be really tasty and slightly visible. If you have good herbs, you should be able to get a good five to seven hits at this temp. If it's working properly, hit it until the vapor disappears and turn it up to red. Wait for stabilization and finish it off.

That's how I do it. There are a million ways to use this thing, but first let's get the basics down, and this is a pretty full proof method if it is a working unit. If at any point in the process it doesn't work, we may have a problem. But, the other thing to check is the seals. Check the point where the mouthpiece attaches to the flexicone, and make sure your lid is all the way on. If there is ambient air entering the air path anywhere it will dilute the hits.
You're the man Sticks. I tried this, and it didn't work at all. Couldn't get any vapor from pink or green, only from red when I give it a long fast pull. This isn't thick vapor either, it's very weak. The taste is incredible, though, I can't wait until I get one that's working. The original owner has contacted support, so hopefully I can get this tcmv back before I go crazy.

I emailed mV about the glass core and they told me to send my unit to get the upgrade.
I don't know what to do. Since they take forever to send units back, and some of you liked better Teflon core for flavours, maybe I can get a brand new core and keep also the Teflon core.

I've been using the Teflon core for about 3 and half weeks now. Will be receiving the Glass Core tomorrow. Will give ya a comparison within a few days, at least from my perspective.

Hi all. I'm kind of torn right now with a tough decision I am facing. I had a MiniVap in the past, and I believe a current member has it now. Long story short, I had to take a long break from vaping (but am back) and am looking to get a new MiniVap.

I loved my old unit, but one thing sort of bothered me; I was never able to get really thick vapor. I couldn't milk a tube like I have seen Roger and others do. I was unable to achieve the same type of clouds I got on my Cloud or even my Evo for that matter.

I love a hot, heavy and thick vapor but the flavor is important to me too. I want to get a MiniVap but after catching up with this thread I now know there are two versions, and I'm torn between which one I should get. Do the new TCMV's run hotter than the old ones or is it just a difference in heat-up time? Logic tells me a Glass Core may be for me since I loved my VapeXhale Cloud(s) so much, but the flavor of the MV is what draws me back. It was the only vape I used that never got the popcorn taste of the bud, but at the same time I wasn't able to get huge thick clouds that I could with other vapes. It could have definitely been user error, but if anyone could offer some input, preferably someone who has used both units, that would be great. Basically does the Glass Core diminish the taste that much and does the performance of the Glass Core surpass that of the Teflon Core that much? As I said, I love thick clouds and use a water path 100% of the time, but I'm not sure if I would be willing to sacrifice that much flavor.

If it helps, I'm currently using an Arizer Air with great success, so I figure a beast like the MV should be an upgrade no matter which core I choose. I just want to be able to make an informed decision. I've read through the entire thread (again) but still am unable to make a decision. I am leaning towards the glass core because of the ability to milk a tube and get massive clouds, but am unsure about the loss of flavor and added fragility that comes along with it. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks all, glad to be back!

My latest problem with the MiniVAP is that the plastic has started cracking and falling off all around the top lip of the battery unit. Not been misused, dropped, anything. It just sheers off in chunks spontaneously. Doesn't affect the locking mechanism thankfully, but I'm probably going to have to send it back to Vapefiend again for a replacement.

Is it the accumulation of heat from the upper unit? It's only on the top of the battery that's affected.

@mlo4sho - I am finding it is pure preference. I like the teflon better, but @subway13029 here liked the glass better after tasting them side by side, and we were using the same units. I detect the spent taste quicker on the glass unit. I will say that mine was one of the first glass units, and they may have done some tweaking to it. I know I have different firmware (not for long).

Keep getting opinions on it and let me know when you are ready. I'll make sure you get a milker!

On vacation for most of this week... Can't wait to rip a small basket from the MV when I get back. My tolerance is so low I can already tell that first hit is going to put me out there in the stratosphere:cool::freak:

@stickstones - Thanks so much. I think I will do just that and ponder the decision for a bit. I will be sure to contact you when I am ready. It's so nice to have someone from this part of the world able to help out with this awesome vaporizer.

Cool, I'm really eager for someone to compare them side by side. I have a TC, a new model (i think). It's my third replacement, and works great, but i feel like it has deminished a bit in the few months that iv had it. My preference is to maximise effect, then efficiency, then flavour. So I'm keen to see if the glass core would be a better option for me. Im just not sure that I can face going through the returns farce to get a new one - it was tiring enough the first two times.

Nice rig you got there bro, hope you enjoying the wood, what's your thoughts?
I like it a lot. I love the look of it with the silver. I haven't used it with a 18mm piece yet, but I wanted to create an evo like experience (I only have the 14 mm fbomb, and I like the stability.) Something that I couldn't do with the Hermes 14mm adapter.

Edit. I must like it a lot because my mighty and herbie have been sitting on the shelf since I received it

I gotta admit it does add quite a bit of flavor to the unit, there is something about wood and especially cocobolo that has that pop that just adds to the experience! Really glad you dig it, was fun to make and working with @stickstones is always a pleasure, he's a solid guy and does alot for the community here, not to mention a good friend!

Just finished my second session with my new TC!
Flavor is incredible with this unit!
I'm getting great taste and good vapor on blue,
great taste and great vapor on blurple and green.

Gotta thank @stickstones for the ease of transaction, steering me in the right direction, and for hooking me up with your killer dry setup!

Experiencing a sweetness from my herbs that I never knew existed.
I think I have a new favorite vape, more testing required.

Glad you guys are liking them! @subway13029 the adapters are 18mm. mixchu69 is using an expander that converts the 14mm female into a 18mm female, and it adds an inch or two to the pathway depending on the expander. Reducers, which convert the other way, add very little to the pathway but aren't what you want here. The whole reducer/expander thing confused me at first until I realized it was from the perspective of the glass, not the wood in this case.

@mixchu69 if you find yourself using it with the fbomb a lot, consider placing a hemp filter in the expander for reclaim if you find the taste of the hemp neutral, as I do. Some are able to detect some taste in it.

Aha! Finally got the hang of it! I was making a schoolboy error and treating it like the Mighty when I was loading it, basically I was putting as much stuff in the basket as possible and packing the shit out of it. So I tried a loose pack the other day and bam.... much much better. Finally see why it's loved, a little material does go a long way.

Been using this and the Mighty in alternate patterns, Mighty has a bit more oomph which I guess is down to a bigger bowl and more material in it. But my buyer's remorse with the MV has subsided and we're getting along nicely. Glad I have both now to mix up the experience.

Gonna order some bigger glass than the MFLB orbiter I've been using and I think we'll be in a good place indeed. Thanks for all the tips chaps much appreciated, got there in the end.

Hopefully the mods will forgive my back to back posting! But this

You just have to find the balances between grind consistency, how tightly or loosely you pack, draw rates and temp settings. They all interplay with one another so the right balance for one person may not be the correct balance for you.

Was the best bit of advice and the key to getting the most out of it. Now I finally get the MV. I think I found my sweet spot and this is a fantastic vape. I'm finally getting clouds like the Mighty, but with the better taste on the MV. Through the bubbler it's delightful. Love it. Just had to learn the difference between conduction and convection the hard way.

My one gripe is even the bigger baskets are a bit small for me, I have to do about two before I get where I want to be. But for anyone who needs to conserve herbs, this is by far the best out of the vapes I own. You can get massive clouds from a tiny amount, I'm really impressed. Bloody glad I didn't send it back in now.

I am having so much fun using the minivap..soo different from my mighty..can take awhile to heat up..but for giant clouds I've been using my eds wong hooked up to a pnwt on green and clouds are qmazing..makes the unit even longer but worth it..when hitting out of the flexicone plus the vapor can get extremely hot but packs a punch..prolly the hottest vape I have..

But I like it!
I was using mine driving home yesterday (high CBD, low THC), and realized I had resin forming on my teeth! I was using the wee plastic straw, and when I pulled it out at home there was an audible 'click', and the vape tube is almost completely plugged. This also explains why it's been harder to draw - I thought I was overpacking again...

So, to clean, I can either drop this in a little dish of EC and let it clean (might hurt the plastic?), scrape it out with something (but that will take awhile, and needs some teeny tools), or simmer it in milk (we have company. It might be awkward to explain to the inlaws why I'm cooking plastic in milk...)

Any other suggestions from the guys who have been cleaning these before?

@killick , as for cleaning I've been using 90% ISO with some table salt (acts as an abrasive) added to a small container, I then add all my flexis, screens, 2 pc. Straw un assembled & soak & shake periodically. Shit comes out Great! All the silicon cleans up good, but will still have that off color, never to be white again Lol, unless you only use for few sessions & clean, as is my experience.
I don't reclaim though. I just toss. Maybe you could omit the salt & evaporate. But it's much easier/faster with the salt! Good luck, hope I've helped. Love my Mini:rockon:
