Discontinued The Grasshopper

Fwiw "something" happened to mine too... Different issue than what's been stated above - will see how the team responds. Hopefully same outcome

@midgetsanchez and @baltik

Why don't you directly share with us your "something"?

C'mon guys there is already enough stress around here without the thrilling of "something" happens...:o:o

... Midget did directly share with us what happened, just not the instant it happened. They are the first people to receive these production units, you can't blame them for talking with the GH team about it b4 revealing the whole story to us otherwise it will probably cause some people to over react or start trying to solve issues they don't fully understand. I've seen the same things in other threads. Tho saying something happened is a rough tease lol

You are right, it is better to talk when you have all the elements.

On the other hand if you are deciding if to buy or not it is good to know if there is "something" as soon as possible, so you can decide to wait until you know..

So even if stressy yours way is the best way to go, @midgetsanchez and @baltik sorry for my anxiety

Im sure they have at least 100-150k from the project still

Lol, you've never worked for a small business just releasing it's first product have you?

I wouldn't be surprised if GH Labs has any money left. They're probably borrowing money from friends/family to keep it going until they can finish getting all the preoroders/IGG Backers shipped out.

Sucks to hear we've got a few problems with early units, but that's what I expected. This is yet again why I NEVER recommend a brand new vaporizer to someone looking to buy their first vape.

Update tonight at midnight, can't wait to see what their excuse is this week ("Sorry, we ran out of boxes" )

I think it would be helpful if people who do have the Grasshopper and have technical problems with it post something concrete as opposed to cryptic messages that just serve to fuel wild speculation. Whist that might be entertaining to some, I think it just serves to clog the thread with rumours, making reliable information difficult to find. Hopefully we all had enough of that in the previous GH thread.

Yes, that worked so well for the "offgassing" issue...

I was wondering if those of you with access to 3d printers could you possibly print a filling aid for the GH, similar to the Crafty/Mighty aid and also print a "cap" for the on/off button for the GH? to prevent accidental pocket vaping( which hasn't happened to me but I could see that its possible although the button is very firm)

I have been using the Pack-N-Stash funnel that came with my Pack-N-Stash order as a filling aid for the GH. It sits nicely on the chamber and you can slowly push your material into the GH and see whats going on to get it just right but I think it could be improved by someone with a 3d printer...........

wayyy ahead of you, I've got several accessories already in the works for the GH. As soon as I have a GH to get the final measurements, I can finalize the designs and publish them.

I like the cap idea though, hadn't thought about that one.

I was thinking the other day... we've mentioned little pen tips for the GH and how it would be pretty cool. I think if there was a little screen in the front of the mp you would be able to get like a pen tip with a tiny tube and on the end have a little grapple type piece that would clip onto the screen but be easily attached/removed with little pushing/pulling... of course there would have to be a screen in the mp or you would have to find a way to safely add a screen that will stay in place but was just a thought that popped in my head so figured id share

A stylus cap would be awesome so I can "write" with it on my iPad at least #TheFuture

This is what I will use to deal with off-gassing when I first get mine.

But I think I'll turn it over and insert the Grasshopper in the bottom of the bottle. That way I can create a vortex when draining the water which should give a really strong draw.

Can you guys quit breaking yours, so some of us other dudes can get ours :haw:

I'm hoping these early returns aren't a pattern, nor turn my "sometime in July" ship date into a Sept, Oct, Nov, 2016....ship date. Which was originally April :\

Loving the lifetime warranty, regardless. Any company that does that for a product always gets my appreciation, and normally my biz.

God, if I have to wait until next year for mine I will go insane

A lifetime warranty can also put them out of business. It's one thing for a product like the MFLB where the simplicity of design not only helps in maintaining reliability, but also keeps their manufacturing costs down (as well as all of it being built in house) so they can structure a retail/wholesale price point that allows them to offer a warranty such as this, but GH is really going out on a financial limb offering this type of warranty.

As someone else said here, a lifetime warranty is only as good as the lifetime of the company so while some may consider this a real selling point, there is a flip side to that coin.

Agree whole heartedly. Your point also stems back to their business acumen, which I think we all have seen is not their strongest suit.

I've said it before, but it's nothing to get too bunched up over or life altering. I'm sure it'll be just like most other vapes with a few unique value adds. If it ends up sucking, lesson learned.

I think I got my monies worth of knowledge and entertainment between the two threads anyway

But it could become their strongest suit. Their experiences gained here will be invaluable to them, either with Grasshopper or in any future business endeavors. I really envy them for being able to go through this learning curve at such a young age.

I think we need to wait to see if they were the same issue. I am probably being an optimist but, if they were the same malfunction, then we would have more cause for concern? I have not been a part of a manufacturing process of any product so, which is worse; individuals having unrelated malfunctions or each unit having related malfunctions?

A lifetime warranty can also put them out of business.

Yeah in the long run, but lifetime warranty or not-unless they offered no warranty- they would still be honoring and replacing these units. I could see how the lifetime could be an issue if a bunch of units ate it after a couple of years and they weren't prepared for it, but this early in the game and units failing, any length warranty could break them if this continues to be a trend. But these could also be the only two units that fail, who knows? Buzz has had a prepro unit for months and it's still
Kickin'. I realize his gh was different but his does show that they can make a unit that lasts more than a work week.
Edit: we don't know if they had the same malfunction with their units.

My Firefly "lifetime warranty" which I have no doubt they will be able to honor in my case...considering that I never use the stupid thing.

Hopefully, honoring the warranty on my Grasshopper will also be a snap, but not for the same reason!

That's why very few companies offer a lifetime warranty. It can get expensive especially for a new company with very little revenue coming in at this point. I guess I wouldn't know about their revenue - only guessing.

EDIT
I think a 3 year warranty is great, especially on a vape pen product. If GH needed to do adjust their warranty, I would understand that. I think a lifetime warranty of this kind of product with such intricate parts is "pie in the sky" I realize sometimes the truth stings a bit. I don't want to rain on anybody's parade.:2c:

They might end up having to compromise their warranty promises...That'd probably piss some people off, but it would be understandable to me. I think if they offered a 3 or 4 year warranty that'd be perfectly acceptable. Probably still a bit ambitious, really. For the price of it a 2 year warranty wouldn't be questionable to my mind.

Wow, from a straight entertainment perspective, this's shaping up to be the most interesting update yet! (but expecting a big empty spoonful of The Vagueness with "check back in two weeks for whoknowswhy!") So much actual activity that COULD (probably not) be commented on (likely not w/ satisfying detail). I can't calibrate! I want to know something!

At the moment a lifetime warranty cost them nothing more than a 3 year warranty. Just good PR to keep sales up. It's only in 3 years, when the company will hopefully have a chance to establish stable revenue by then, that the lifetime warranty will have any impact (if any) .
