Discontinued The Grasshopper

Btw, in that vid above, look at the ABV that she puts in her hand and taps the GH on the table and than says, "Nice color. Looks to be adequately vaporized." Huh.........? That almost looks like fresh bud that was never vaporized. Adequately vaporized?

And yeah, tastes just like a vaporizer? What in the fuck does a vaporizer taste like?

Hope the GH team is reading these comments. The script really needs some work.

the filmmaker replied to this on reddit somewhere, where basically that particular woman just really prefers barely vaped bud. She was pleased that, for her, on that temp, it did what she wanted it to. But it's not helpful if you're trying to sell it to the vast majority that like their ABV like coffee.
The "just like a vaporizer" comment was also troublesome. Why include it in the video? Was there nothing better in the footage to choose from?

Not to belabor this but that bud was still green. Lightly vaped bud would at least be a golden brown. While she may like to vape in this way, she would be in the very small minority so why even include her ABV in the vid?

It would almost be the same thing seeing an Olive Garden TV AD showing a lady eating only a quarter of her plate of pasta and sending back the rest while stating that it was the best pasta she ever had and then when someone questions the ad, they state that this women is on a diet and only eats really small portions. ;)

How long does it stay on if you decide not to click it off after each hit? Seemed like the two dudes on the video had it going long enough for a session, unless there was some video editing. I thought I read 18 seconds somewhere else though. I feel like I won't want to keep turning it on and off.

Do any of the users have any feelings on that?

I chose to pay for mine thank you very much. I decided to after the post by @BuzzDanklin which suggested more backers do the same.
In a way I did too. It seems like a lifetime ago, when trevor offered me two free batteries. I don't remember what the issue was, and I told him thanks but one would be fine. So in a roundabout way... ;)

@Just Justin Have you tried as Wave suggests you ?
Hi,

I've been lurking this forum ever since the first unit arrived and I'm now addicted to reading every new post about the GH. Thanks a lot for the review!

I noticed that the missing images are just linked to the old domain, so I made a script to correct them.
Pasting this in your javascript console (Ctrl-Shift-I) the images and image links will be fixed.
Code:
(function(){function callback(){(function($){var jQuery=$;$("img").each(function() {s = jQuery(this).attr("src");s = s.replace("keepsitrealreviews", "radvapereviews");jQuery(this).attr("src", s);});$("a").each(function() {s = jQuery(this).attr("href");s = s.replace("keepsitrealreviews", "radvapereviews");jQuery(this).attr("href", s);})})(jQuery.noConflict(true))}var s=document.createElement("script");s.src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7.1/jquery.min.js";if(s.addEventListener){s.addEventListener("load",callback,false)}else if(s.readyState){s.onreadystatechange=callback}document.body.appendChild(s);})()

Hope this helps for now :)

I wouldn't get too excited just yet, those pictures are from the pre-production unit they reviewed IIRC.

They were from before the issues with the charging cables were announced.
Tomorrow night is the scheduled update from GH, wait to see what they have to say then.

From the EXIF data (which you should probably remove before uploading it) it seems like the pictures of the chargers were taken mid-may. BuzzDanklin also received this charger with his titanium Grasshopper, and he stated on his website that this was not the production charger.

Its only 18sec of not drawing, so 18sec idle, then it will shut off and you have to click twice. If you hit it back to back, like with two people, it should stay on like a session vape, but if someone chills with it too long they will have to click it off and then on again for the next hit. What seems to be best for efficiency and battery longevity though is the firefly method of turning it off towards the end of your hit so less heat and power is wasted. Basically it seems the Grasshopper can work both like an on demand pipe and a session joint

EDIT Buzz said it was the old charger he got, old pcb, doesn't charge as fast I believe

Does anybody remember when the folks at GH said their updated order status/tracking system was going to happen?

I think what was said was "by the 15th". Although I honestly don't know where I saw that.

Had been lurking through the previous grasshopper thread for some time and just caught up on this one (now at an amazing 23 pages in less than a week!), and like many am anxiously awaiting the grasshopper being available. Seems like it could be one of the best portables ever.

I get the emotional attachment of many (especially early funders/investors), but have to side with some of the cautious skeptics here (@lwien making some of the most intelligent posts from this side of things).

Start with you want my money now to send me a grasshopper in 3 months (if that)? Hasn't the company shown repeatedly that keeping up with promised timelines isn't their strong suit? Many newer vapes (especially higher/newer tech ones such as this), seem to go through a bit of a bumpy start as they work out kinks. Seems like this may be the case here even before concerns brought up by the small handful of current owners. Can someone explain why so many people are so anxious to send their money and wait months for delivery? Especially given the history of this vape and promises made over the past year and a half?

Am I missing something? I get absolutely loving a vape. I can be a fanboy of a good product like few others! (check the nano thread for verification) But, all the heaps of praise in this situation just baffles me! There seems to be a lot of surety thrown around by people who won't even see one in real life for months.

The hype on this one has hit a level I don't recall seeing in the past. So what gives?

As I try to figure out whether to pull the trigger and make my advance payment - could anyone offer any solid reasons why I should?
