Discontinued The Grasshopper

Oh FFS, seriously people. Let's get a few more reports of this supposed offgassing before we start jumping the gun

Where did you find official instructions to burnoff your Solo?

No manufacturer produces an official "burnoff guide" for their vape
I agree with holding complaints in until people actually have their own.

In terms of off gassing.... I think it would be better to go after law changes than hitting each company with complaints. I mean fuck, I don't know what I would do in GH labs position. I get stressed out just reading these threads. And its crazy for half the world to even complain about it because half of us don't even know where the herb we use comes from anyway.

I do think my air came with a burn in guide. but it looked like it may have been an after thought from the company because I believe it was on a separate piece of paper.

Posts here get weird fast!

Stand down!

ps. I probably won't reply to any replies made to this... yes, I know half of what I say has viable responses of opposition.

I'm not particularly knowledgeable with this whole off gassing issue, but I feel like people are blowing this out of proportion. I'm sure it's all fine, just run some initial burn offs when you get it and break it in with some packed bowls and it'll probably be like every other vape regarding the off gassing.

Right, and I wouldn't need one for a Solo, because it's kind of obvious. You turn it on maximum, and wait until it doesn't smell anymore.

Will that work for a Grasshopper? Doesn't sound like it would. It sounds like you'd need to blow air through it somehow.

And, it seems to me, that this is something they should be doing for us at the factory, with something designed for that purpose. It would also be an additional way for them to test each unit before shipping it.
just set it up with a gravity bong kind of deal to create the suction.

^^ This. As someone that actually has the unit in his hands, I'm not too worried. The "off-gassing" stopped, after a few cycles and there's nothing indicating a weird taste or anything. Even my Crafty had to be broken in before it hit optimal flavor.

Are you still loving the unit? Still enjoyable with good flavor and saving you herbs?

My GH's had less off/newvape taste than most new portables I test. I have had many vapes that took me multiple charges before I am finished with burnoffs, and comfortable using it. I didn't even drain my battery to half to get my Grasshopper fully burned off and usable. So I also think is being blown out of proportion, but healthy skepticism is good. Either way, I am hitting mine right now :)

Is there an indicator for battery level other than very low? Or is it just an estimation? Do you simulate hitting like baltik did while doing burnoff?

If people are really concerned about off-gassing, perhaps you can stick the end of a children's medicine syringe in the tip of the GH and pull.

Just an idea.

We here at FC take pride in our self righteous indignation. We wear it as a badge of honor.

There's actually a "secret society" within FC built upon this idea. See my sig for more details.

As founder, senior member, and only member, I can say without hyperbole, that this secret society is a million times better than any others put together.

Here's a link to where this is discussed in context of the user manual which has a legend showing how to interpret the LED patterns. Also, someone mentioned on the manual it also says blue light blinking will increase in speed as battery further drains.

Wait I cant breath into the device? It would damage it? That's gonna be hard when high, like not blowing it and all, ya feel me? :uhoh:

Took the words right out of my hands. :D

I think I'm gonna live through it.

@HillaryClinton What do you mean exactly? I don't think natural blowback should be a problem. I took the manual's words to mean that the oven shouldn't be blown into intentionally, as if you were to blow out birthday candles.

I have a question for Buzz or someone else who's gotten their hopper. Has anyone tried using their silicone adapter on an 18 mm glass joint? It seems like it should work, or is the grasshopper with the adapter really smaller than an 18 mm glass joint?

it's meant to (besides keep mp not hot) seal a connection with a 14mm so its basically asking if using a 14mm piece for a 18mm joint, so I would imagine not

Ever sneeze and blow into a vape sorta hard? I have occasionally, I am very allergic to everything(No joke, they did the allergy test on me and were scared I was gonna stop breathing, had to give me a shot and some other medicines lol).

I sneeze at weed haha.

I actually wondered about this as well, and I feel like if you were to go all the way to the bottom of the joint it would have tapered enough for the GH to work with it. Maybe I'm wrong, but to me it's like stacking cups together: the bottom of a cup is a lot smaller than the top so you can put one inside another, but it doesn't go all the way down because eventually it'll get stopped.

Me too. I'm even highly allergic to weed growing. I got rid of 95 percent by taking black seed oil, which is from black cumin seed. Doesn't taste great, but that stuff is miraculous for many people and problems.

Bottom of an 18mm male fitting is larger than 16 mm (it varies depending on where it's made). The GH diameter is 14mm. The silicone mouthpiece ensures an airtight seal with the tapered fitting.

So no, the GH with it's condom will not fit an 18mm female

As the battery gets low it will start blinking, and blink faster as it gets lower. I estimated half because I got multiple bowls on the battery after the burnoffs before it finally needed recharged.

@Night-Man @SmokinMagic the mouthpiece barely doesn't fit an 18mm joint. Right now I am just using an 18-14mm glass reducer when I want to use my GH with 18mm pieces.

Regarding the off-gassing -- I don't see why there would be anything wrong with blowing into the intake holes to push air through. You won't get any reverse flow from the heater.

The theoretical issue is that you may or may not be blowing extra moisture from your breath into the heater rather than where if you use suction, only outside air goes in.

Not saying that blowing into the intake would do that or not, but I believe people are concerned with that possibility.
