Vapman

I got to use the mflb walnut stem with my vapman filled with hash. It worked pretty well the stem was smaller than I imagined. It cooled it down nice and matches beautifully.

I have had my vapman for about half a year now. I have also purchased 2 other vapes since my vapman. It has surpassed the honeymoon stage and still my go to. I find almost everyday I will use my vapman while my others get used only a few times a week.

Conclusion still loving the vapman more and more day after day.

I cleaned my vapman today, i oiled him, cleaned the bowl with alcohol. there was a lot of mica falling away. and on the top a large part of it got loose.

is there anything i can do?

Not sure what to advise...I'm assuming the mica got wet from either the alcohol or the oil or both. As I'm sure you figured out you aren't supposed to get the mica wet. And for that matter probably should avoid touching it too much when wet or even when dry. I got it wet once when I cleaned the holding ring with acetone. I noticed the mica got mooshy and when I pushed down on it (out of childlike curiosity)- the entire mica piece lifted up a tiny bit from the wood - I was able to push it back down. I also noticed that it was flaking more, so I tried to peel off the flakes, only to have it flake more and more, so I eventually stopped touching it - let it dry, and it set back to normal. I peeled off a few leftover flakes when it was dry - and have left it alone since.

You can get caught it in a bit of a cycle - you touch it, it lifts up, you peel off the part that lifted up - but then another part lifts up and it can keep on going. When I was trying to get rid of stray mica flakes I remember thinking this could could be an OCD nightmare if you don't choose the right moment to just stop picking at the mica flakes and leave it alone.

I'm no Mica expert.

Logic tells me that you could wet it a bit again with acetone, then press it back into place and let it dry at least for half a day before using it again.

But I would not try this, or anything else until we hear what René (@vapman) recommends.

I know that he doesn't use any glue on the Mica or anywhere on the vapman - which is a good thing.

Thanks!

Stupid me probably got alcohol on there. Well even doe i own a collection of minerals ,micas included, and know a lot about minerals and how they behave, my mind didn't realize that alcohol would be a problem... Well you learn new things every day.

I pushed the loose sheet back and torched it empty.there was a lot of alcohol vapor, so now i let it sit around open to dry out. I'll clean away the loose flakes with a extremely fine brush, not to start the chain reaction

and @M0J0 am i right in believing you are the one behind the shop with those beautiful tattooed and chared Vapmans? so tempting...
the only thing putting me off is the shipping from the USA to switzerland.

@M0J0 I saw their page on Instagram and they seem chill. I'm deaf so idk how thoroughl their reviews are, but they do seem to review legit vapes and not those rebranded mumbo jumbo I think? Twist the egg? Haha everything goes flying.

@dadafg yup that's mojo for you. The shipping might be unpleasant, but once it's in your hands, you'll forget about the price haha

Cool, I emailed René asking about the Mica issue. Let's see what he says.

Yes. That's me. Thanks for the compliment. :D

Shipping to Switzerland is $25, but email me and we'll work something out.

EDIT: I just have to post this. It's off topic but I think Stu will approve.

Funny as hell. I am not cononing anyone use this information to commit any crime, etc. Yada, yada, yada...

I Pressed it in place again, but is there a better way to really secure it?

Layered silicate (mica) is very pure, there are no glues or adhesives holding the single sheets together. This is not a problem as long the sheets of silicate are dry. When coming in contact with liquids, the sheets tend to separate from each other and flake off. There is one exception, linseed oil!

Applying some linseed oil on the edges of the mica helps to bond the silicate sheets and stops the flaking off. In the beginning I did not know about this, I was using linseed oil for the wood only but could not prevent some oil going between the sheets of the mica when applying the oil on vapman. Some years later, a client from Germany wrote me an email saying, that the mica of his vapman was flaking off and that he searched on internet for a solution to this problem. I could not believe what he came up with. He actually told me, that linseed oil and mica are the ideal combination. This is how I learned that I was unconsciously doing the right thing for years beforehand. From there on I deliberately applied extra linseed oil on to the edges of the mica shields. In other words, I had the answer without ever asking the question.
Isn`t the answer to all questions, 42? (Hitchhiker`s guide to the galaxy) Just use 42 and it will work!:D

I finally broke down and purchased a torch powered vape. I chose the vapman because of what I read here on FC. After my first try I'm very pleased. I think I need to zero in my tech. but I really like the effects I'm getting and I definitely got some great tasting and big hits. I think the versatility as far as what types of product (keef, oils, wax) and the $ was what made my mind up. It's been a damn good day.

Had left my vapman outside over night. Turns out some animal likes the smell of weed. Luckily my film container was empty and it wasn't able to get into the egg.

@herbivore21 What texture is the hash you put straight into the bowl, and how do you keep the bowl clean?

It sounds like it'll be hard to do with most of the hashes we've got over here
Hey brother, sorry it took me ages to get back to this for some reason lol!

I always clean the bowl immediately after use. I am working with a very blonde, very light colored nicer-than-kief looking bubble hash of which 1/2-2/3 of it will melt away to nothing when vaped. It tends to stick together on itself but is not at all pressed and smells like heaven.

My AVH (already vaped hash) looks like extremely dark brown almost black powder when I'm done.

I find if I clean immediately after use, I can very gently scrape out the hash with the back end of my Globfather II dabber (Happy Daddy tool). With some more torching to keep the crucible warm, I can EXTREMELY gently scrape around the edges of the inlet tubes where a little gunk can build up with a very sharp small knife (which I also keep on hand to lift the screen out after I finish a bowl since the hash can glue it right down lol) to really keep every inch of the crucible clean.

Then some extra torching to get any leftover resins out of the crucible before I use a steel guitar string to thoroughly clean out the inlet tubes of any gunked up bubble.

By this time, all is spotless :D Don't even need to use magic eraser really :D This clean is a very fast process, fast enough that I clean my vapman immediately and fully after every single bowl without and gripes about the time it takes!

@herbivore21 Thanks for the tips. I'll try out BHO in the vapman soon, first time i got my hands on it in switzerland:D But it will prob kill me because i have no idea how dosing works with it. i'll use your instructions to keep it clean, and i assume that the bho works the same as the bubble hash, even if it is supposed to be full melt. or Should i stick it between the Concentrate trays?

Definitely stick the bho between concentrate trays :) probably throw an extra screen or two on top to keep from gunking up the middle piece. Dose sparingly lol

Most of all, enjoy! I still remember the first time I scraped shatter off a dish and dabbed it to the dome. That was a life-changing moment!

I can't believe how lifted I can get on such a small amount. If I try a second load I can just barely get thrue It. I think I'm falling in love w this thing. I've used a 1/4 of what I had been using in product. And I can't wait to try some of my reclaim oil in it. I really like the power of the torch/Vapman combination.

Oh you are in for an almost psychadelic treat when you put that reclaim through the vapman :D

This post got me motivated to use some reclaim so I got it all prepped only to realize that I've mis-placed my screens. I just went through a move, and have no idea where I packed them. FML :disgust:

:peace:
Oh man that is bad timing! Moving is the worst for losing vapor items in our haste to ensure that they aren't seen by movers/whoever - but alas when you gotta move, you gotta move - I'm thinking it's high time (yup!) I did the same actually.

Here's to hoping you find those screens quickly :D God speed fellow vaporizerer :leaf:

@herbivore21 why is it that reclaim hits so hard? and does it hit harder than BHO?

i just tried BHO, and wow. at first i used to little, then i added some more, then i was floored and got the treatment of a psychedelic experience while meditating, dissolving of the ego like this here:whoa:, accompanied by well, nothingness, and the thus resulting visuals because the brain can't process nothingness. wow

Reclaim has been decarboxylated and some of the resultant THC may have degraded to CBN. The CBN gives a sleepy effect whilst the decarbed THC seems to be trippier. I love the vapman for reclaim and especially AVB oil because you can cook the not so nice taste out during warm-up and just take a massive, generic earl tasting rip that gives these trippy effects of decarbed THC. It won't necessarily hit harder than non decarbed concentrates like most BHO's, but it is a very different effect and much more couch-lockish feeling.

non decarboxylated concentrates (good BHO should fall into this category, if it is absolute shatter, it is not decarbed ;) ) contain much more THCA, which I find when dabbed gives a very heady and clearer effect. I do get some psychadelic effects, sun glare and light sources stand our somewhat more and peripheral vision is very pronounced (you notice things in the corner of your vision much more readily)! I even find that my field of vision seems wider when I've dabbed non-decarbed oils!

What consistency was the BHO you got out of interest was it waxy, sappy, rock hard crystals, wet/slick/runny? Since you are getting to know solvent-based concentrates, it would be worth checking out the concentrates section of FC to bone up on your dab safety and related knowledge - not all concentrates are created equal! ;)

I've had my chocolate brown vapman from infinityvm for about a month now and want to say think you to this forum and all you posters for steering me a good direction. Also to the mojo shaman from infinityvm for importing the vapman and putting the perfect finish on it.

The positives:
  • This little thing is wonderful to hold. The perfect size. It is remarkable that the heat from the torch is entirely contained. At first I was very timid and afraid of the flame, but I feel quite safe with it now. You do have to be awake, and aware of what you're doing. Which brings me to...
  • The great ritual to its use. It's short and sweet. From the idea in your noggin to packing everything away is <5 minutes. You must be watching what you're doing or bad things will happen. Torches are powerful. The timing and placement of the torch and breathing technique of the hit all have their effect. There isn't time to have a conversation in the middle of a session. The ritual is demanding.
  • cut the amount of material I was using in half coming from a vapexhale evo. The tiny crucible is wonderful. It has taught me a lesson about material conservation.
  • Gets me every bit as medicated as the vapexhale evo
The negatives:
  • Even feeling like I have some decent technique I continue to occasionally combust. It seems unavoidable unless you go annoyingly slow.
  • The gold of my crucible is many shades darker already. I've wiped it after every bowl and cleaned it with alcohol regularly. Probably cause of all the combustion. Whoops.
  • I'm a little worried about stripping the screw holes, especially on the screen in the middle section which needs regular cleaning. This is 100% worry and may be pointless.
So, in summary, the positives are HUGE and the negatives silly and negligible. Wow vapman, just wow.

Just going off what @MeesterWood said about combustion, do many of you think it's rather easy to combust?

I can go at it pretty hard with the torch from time to time, especially when I'm trying to kill a bowl in a few hits to save time, but have yet to combust.

I'm not saying that MeesterWood is wrong, I just want to get others opinions on the topic.

I have never combusted in mine, but I have almost never used flowers in mine either. Only concentrates ;)

I definitely could imagine combustion being able to happen with bud though!
