Ceramic ... at higher temps titanium produces TiO2 which is not good to be breathing in. For instance when titanium wire is used in an atomizer and aloud to get red hot TiO2 is produced. That's why e cig users tend to only use titanium wire on temperature control mods.

I think in the case of the Hercules it doesn't get hot enough to really matter though.

This is true. That is why we are against glowing coils. But educating the masses it doesn't seem to work.

As for the coils in the Herc glowing, that's not possible. Thermodynamics come into play on top of that a reduced heater power so it never reaches anywhere needed to make the coils glow even when empty.

Now as to why use the Ti vs ceramic we found that ceramic starts to crumble if not left alone. In other words cleaning the Herc out means removing the ceramic which equals to poking it constantly and ceramic is brittle and starts to chip away.

In other words Ti > Ceramic in this case

trying it out has already been accomplished right before we introduced the Ti versions of the coils in the Herc. We came to the conclusion that the Ti coils hold a lot more then the Ceramic counterparts.

Is there a reason why you don't use some kind of titanium coils for the KAC donut, instead of the black ceramic wick?

Hey all I just recived the alpha centari and first impressions are amazing, i just want to know if it is just my alpha or do All of your air flow controller Teflon like to leak air rendering it 80% useless, the only fix I came up with is to flip the bottom plate to give the Teflon more room so it can slide down and finaly make a proper seal with the o-ring, it works PERFECTLY!! Like it works so well i fell in love with the air flow control right then and there but when i went to go screw it into my persei to turn it on the threaded connection is just the TINIEST bit too short! I have not had a chance to use the alpha yet as I noticed this right after cleaning and have been fiddling with it ever since xD what did you guys end up doing or did I just recive a faulty device?

Update: does any one else's centari glove wobble when its all the way the down? It wobbles like crazy!, maybe 25 degrees, anybody know what size orings they are? It looks like I'm going to have to get one size up myself, or centari mode is going to be used only at home where I can keep an eye on it.

Also it looks like the ONLY way to use the alpha air flow is to completely remove the bottom plate and just manualy keep the Teflon adjuster in place, its annoying as hell but if anyone has a better way to get it to work properly PLEASE let me know, I'm assuming my unit is faulty since I find it hard to belive the air flow was designed to only work at 60% capacity, G is too good for that!

@THC SCIENTIFIC is there anyway you could make a rebuildable ac dual coil assembly? I know the 1701 already is but if you could make a rebuidable dual coil assembly it would be the first on the market and there are tons of us diy stoners I was brainstorming design ideas at work today and the best one I came up with is using the metal body from the 1701 but threading the inside where the rubber insulator is usually inserted and creating a teflon insulator that threads into it. The Teflon insulator would have a hole in it exactly how you have it set up for the negative wire in the 1701 right now and then there would be a metal cap that threads on to the teflon insulator to pinch the positive wire and act as a positive center pin.

Here's a crappy illustration of the teflon insulator and center pin cap

I think they'd sell like hotcakes ...

The air flow isn't designed to be super air tight, it's only designed to effect some what.

so why not just poke a hole on the silicon insulator?

I've recently been building seego glacier coils which is basically like rebuilding kiss coils and it's just a pita. I mean I'm definitely going to be rebuilding the coil assemblies that I get with my ac I was just thinking it would be cool to have a wax atomizer on the market that is actually intended to be, and easy to rebuild. Just an idea ... take it or leave it but I think it would sell well and it could be like an add on item that you have to buy after you purchase the ac.

and rather than poking holes in the silicone insulators it's easier to just pinch the wires between the silicone insulator and their respective contact like so ...

and then bending the wire back and forth until it breaks off.

dont get me wrong i understand what your trying to do, but rebuilding a dual coil in that confined space is a pain in the ass.

Also something you would like to know.

In theory the Kiss Alpha Dual coils can be rebuilt.

Everytime i claim something can be done we get a tone of hey show me instructions, we just dont have the resources to do this and teach everyone to rebuild them.

@darkshade please pm me whats going on and ill look into it, not sure whats wrong with your air flow teflon piece.

I do the same thing with the cloupor 2. It's not that bad to rebuild. I just hate the fact that I have to use non resistant wire.

Ah, ok yes that's what fell out that explains it then I guess. So it's really just supposed to fall out like that?

My ac also came with a few metal shavings left over but I can clean that up easily enough. However, I am most irritated by the glass piece I received. There is a ring of sticky residue left on it, I tried ISO and Goof Off, helped a little bit but cant get it all off.

Steel wool will take that out, sounds crazy but it works great, I work in retail and we often use it on fine glassware. Use 0000 grade and not too much pressure, it won't scratch.

PSA: don't forget to check your pockets before you do laundry.
Thankfully it was just my Mini and not my Persei but damn...

On the plus side, I guess it's time to do some shopping.

I just received my AC 510 and am using it on a Innokin Cool Fire IV, the combo works great so far on the single and double coil.

Unfortunately my ceramic atomizer didn't come with the black ceramic donut (as others in this thread have also experienced). I have submitted a ticket and I'm sure it will be taken care of.

The adjustable air holes are also an issue, as the teflon holes easily rotate and block airflow. I recently went camping with it and it was a constant hassle at night to align the holes, had to turn on a flashlight every time it was passed.

As others have stated, my air holes below the mouthpiece are a bit unfinished and rough, but not nearly as bad as some of the pictures I have seen. I don't see this causing any issue at all.

Overall I am VERY pleased the AC. I was using the single coil at 3.8v with great results. The double coil I am currently using at 4.5v (which goes up to about 20w on my 40w battery). Everything I put on the double coil is completely gone in 5s at 4.5v with great taste, I'm going to play with a bit lower and a bit higher and see how it goes.

I'm really happy you guys went with the 510 option, I think it will be a big success and greatly increase your customer base. Someday I will probably buy a herc and a persei/8 also...

So as an owner of most of the W9tech product line and overall a big fan I'd like to chime in with my two cents regarding the newly released Kiss Alpha Centauri.

The external aesthetics of the Kiss AC are very nice. The stainless steel with black teflon accents looks great in my opinion. My girlfriend would much prefer the same color options you get for the Omicron and Persei but you can't win them all! The inclusion of both a glass globe and stainless/teflon option is a nice touch that I'm sure those interested in stealth and durability will really appreciate.

My glass globe does have a lot of imperfections in its form though. The bottom of the glass globe is not even and there is an odd asymmetric tapering in diameter about halfway up. These are simple aesthetic issues though and do not impair functionality. Also as I previously posted the casting on the stainless steel leaves a lot to be desired. I found stainless steel burrs on most of the interior air holes and also some additional metal debris. I would caution people to double check this as even the air holes in the base of the AC had metal burrs. I only discovered this after completely disassembling the base and removing the teflon ring. @THC SCIENTIFIC is aware of these manufacturing defects and I'm sure will correct them in the next production run.

As others have pointed out the adjustable air flow leaves a bit to be desired. This is a common feature on eJuice carts so I was looking forward to it. Unfortunately the teflon ring slides very easily and is constantly getting inadvertently moved to actually cover the air hole I've selected! This is especially problematic with friends who don't know to be careful not to touch the teflon ring while handling the Kiss AC. In a future iteration I hope that @THC SCIENTIFIC adds some sort of teeth behind the ring so it stays in place once adjusted. Also as others have pointed out, the seal on the teflon ring is not really air tight so the adjustment isn't nearly as precise as it could be. @THC SCIENTIFIC mentioned this is intentional but I'm not clear why.

So far I have tried the dual coil and donut but not the single coil. At 7.4v the dual coil pours out vapor with just a quick tap. Much like the 7.4v standard Kiss you really only want to apply power for a split second or you are going to cook your oil. Even with super short taps I still find the flavor to be fairly bad. For reference though it is no worse than the 7.4v standard Kiss. So if you are happy with that taste you'll be fine with taste of the dual coil AC at 7.4v. Acceptable taste or flavor profile will always really be a matter of personal preference.

At 3.4v the dual coil takes a long time to heat up and also to cool down. Unlike the dual coil carts for the Kiss Globe, you really have to sit there holding the button while the coils heat up before it starts to produce vapor. I assume this is due to how much thicker the Ti wire is on the AC carts. This thicker wire also retains heat for much longer so even after you let up on the button keep pulling because it will continue to produce some vapor. At first I found this lag time frustrating but I think over repeated use you could get used to it.

I have also struggled to get the dual coil to work on an AW IMR 18350 800 mAh. I've tried this with numerous tops and little success. It fires fine on an 18650 2000 mAh. This is frustrating as previously the 8 with shorty tube was my go to setup.

One last thing about the dual coil is that the coils sit at the very top of the cart. Unlike the Kiss Globe the lip of the cup that the coils are set in is about flush with the height of the coils. I feel this is responsible for a lot of additional oil splatter and I hope in the next iteration the coils will be set deeper down into the cup.

For the donut the 3.4v gives the same performance as the old 1701. I have trouble getting any meaningful amount of vapor out of it. It just seems to eat oil and produce very little vapor. The new 7.4v donuts produced a big cloud almost immediately upon applying power. Unfortunately after the first hit it quit working and I haven't had a chance to play with it again. Not sure if I broke it somehow or what but if so I'll continue experimenting with one of the others I purchased. Since I only got one hit I can't really comment on the flavor yet.

In terms of compatibility with various W9tech tops I have had weird results. I currently own an 8, v3 Persei and Hammer top. The v3 Persei top will not reliably fire the Kiss AC. Sometimes it works, sometimes I need to hold the button while screwing the cart in or it just blinks 3 times. The 8 when properly adjusted seems to work just fine. The Hammer top sometimes works but other times did not work much like the v3. I'm guessing the AC is designed for the 8 and v4 Persei specifically but some clarification on this from @THC SCIENTIFIC would be helpful.

Overall I can't say I am super thrilled about the Kiss AC. I'm waiting till I can grab a Nibbler designed for the AC to pass final judgement. Until then I'll stick with my Kiss Globe + dual coil + Nibbler G as my go to LAYG setup.

What's the recommended tool for loading a cart these days? I've been using toothpicks on a standard KISS cart but it's not working as well with an AC.
