c23, your experience is definitely not normal, though I wouldn't leave it plugged in all the time like that. It's just wasting energy. Unplug it at full charge until you need to use it. With a working unit, you should be able to get 3-5 bowls/sessions depending on your usage before you need to charge it again. If you need to use it more than that, a Mighty is probably a better choice for you.

Sounds like you would get better response from S&B if you just followed their repair procedure. Copy and paste your forum post into the letter to them. They will ship you a new unit. If you ask to upgrade to a Mighty instead, they will contact you for a reasonable upgrade payment and send you a new Mighty.

It's been a while since I have been on the Crafty thread (I can't keep up) but I just dropped by for a couple thoughts.

I am at almost 55 hours on my Crafty (serial # in the 800's) and I'm happy to report it is still going strong. Yes the battery is diminished but the performance is still there.

I have some slight plastic chipping where the cooling unit attaches but it still holds.

Other than that this thing works as good as the day I got it!

I just did a full on cleaning yesterday and replaced the bottom screen and all the O rings. Wiped it down with ISO and it was just like shiny new.

I was so excited to have it cleaned up new that I packed a salad bowl right away with some vanilla kush / cherry pie and fired it up! Mmmmmmmmm good!

Anyone tried vegetable glycerin in their crafty? I would like to use it with rosemary as Rosemary doesn't give off any vapour and who doesn't wanna feel like snoop...?

I had battery and overheat issues with my Crafty. Called, got an RMA, and in a week turn-around and $30, I had a brand new MIGHTY!!! Using it right now.
S&B is pretty awesome.

Has anybody gone further in taking this (or the Mighty) apart? Or successfully replaced the battery? I'm interested in getting one of these, but a few years down the road when its out of warranty and the original battery has lost its umph I want to be able to swap out the battery myself.

Hi Timstar, I had tried VG in the Crafty a few times and it produced a lot of vapor, although it was so much that eventually due to condensation in the CU I ended up with a lot of it in my mouth... Not a great experience. My vapman is much better at this.

That's not right. The product is not of merchantable quality. Take it back today and get a refund then buy it somewhere else. It sounds like that retailer will not support you or offer you any after sales help.

I got my warranty replacement Crafty today and noticed a couple of things. First, all of the o-rings are the new light blue version except for one. Even the replacement o-rings I got were all new (light blue), but the CU gasket that was installed is the old stock.

The really strange thing to me however was that even though this is a brand new unit, it shows 27 hours of use on it already. That is approximately how much time was on my returned Crafty. So did S&B pre-program those hours into my new unit so keep track of my total usage should I have another return? Has anyone else received a replacement Crafty with hours already on the odometer (that wasn't a refurb)? My old unit was s/n 108x and the replacement is 1773x.

Maaaaaaan. Finally decided to pull the trigger on a crafty after months of deliberation, and puffitup is out of stock. Bummer. Hope it's not too long. They're the cheapest place. I was stuck between a mighty and a crafty forever...

Edit: ok I have two different dome screens that fit really good (each used in a different way)and should work for reducing bowl size without anything else being changed, need to test with some herb though still, will post screens used with pics in a little while once I've had a play.

Yes...just to be used as a spacer (not for concentrates), but needs to be safe and not interfere with airflow. Organic vaping cotton doesn't sound like it would fit the bill for me (but thanks for the reminder). Please keep me posted and thanks!

So I've used one pic to show both screens/methods, either one on the CU or one in the bowl not both together (although this does work but the amount you could fit in there is just stupid tiny), also didn't try the glass screens with herb, as without they added too much restriction.

Both ways work :tup:

, I think the screen in the bowl works a little better just down to the shape and position of the load, but the screen in the bowl does get hot (go on ask how I know :doh:

) and I'm not sure if this would have any negative long term effects :shrug:

Now this one needs a little work to fit but really not much, I used the glass end of my SSV pick to make the dome slightly wider than it comes and I also left the normal screen in the CU (does fit without original but I find the original makes it a lot more secure fit) the screen in the CU doesn't get hot so no worries there.

The screen in the bowl (just looks like it was made to be there) I got from a LHS so no website but I would guess they are a standard thing.

I find that the Crafty (and Mighty) doesn't really need any "extras", screens or pads or spacers, for small loads. Just put in whatever amount of material you want in the bowl and go! I usually use very small amounts, just enough to cover the bottom, and get all the flavor and clouds I could ever want! Caveat emptor, YMMV, but it works for me. :tup:

If I have the liquid pads or another screen handy I'll cover a small load but you are correct, it can just work. I'd guess how you hold it and how hard you pull would affects its performance when the materials are loose.

Looong time lurker , just registered to ask and contribute a few in here. Im already on page 145 btw and still planning to finish my backread. I did start at page 1, decided and bought the crafty at page 110+ and got a CY017xxx.

Had the Crafty for 4 days now and Im 4 hours in. Everythings going smoothly and just like every vaporizer, I got the technique for this real quick.

I just dont get how my first 2 puffs really dont have clouds. I get a thick feeling of vapor on my throat for the first 2 puffs, but when I then decide to exhale I get nothing. 3rd to 12th hit is fantastic though.

Should I go slower on first 2 puffs?

That is awesome! They've crafted a self healing Crafty! Kudos to German engineering.

Mine is used once a night. It's at 18 hrs since November. It's a CY0004** on V02.04.

I never charge it while warm and never charge it while vaping. So far (I'll probably regret this...) the thing has been rock solid. It still heats up in 2.5 minutes or so and hits like a hammer. If I'm in a hurry, I still go Vapman but Crafty has a more pronounced effect.

I finally got a hold of one of these last week and, after a couple of disappointing sessions at first, I really love it. I'm camping on 410 right now, so the taste is not great but the clouds are some of the best I've gotten from a pocketable portable. Soon I will need to dial it down and enjoy some tasty hits...
