As many times before I've turned to the FC community for help and always had positive results, well here's my new dilema. I bought a butane torch lighter off of eBay and it initally worked fine but now it's spitting & sputtering flame and I can't get that consistent blue flame needed for a good dab. I've poured through different sites looking at what they call their best products but it all looks the same to me. Can any Dab Masters out there recommend a good butane torch lighter (I'm not too super concerened on price but all within reason). Any and all help is appreciated...Thanx

try to purge it first.
grab yer torch go outside and while it is right side up and press and hold the trigger till no more sound.
turn it upside down and fill till it spits liquid.
turn right side up and hold button without lighting it for a few seconds.
light it up and see if it works.
if you still have issues try cleaning the jets/orifices.

still having problems, bed bath and beyond.
they have 2 kinds here in my area, a creme brulee kit with a little torch and a silver one that is the same basic silver torch everyone has now.
get the silver one, they keep them locked up front due to "high usage".
take the receipt, flatten and keep the box so you can take advantage of the lifetime replacement warranty.

The Bed Bath & Beyond torch is from Bonjour:

It bears a striking similarity to the Vector torch that is popularly sold in smoke shops with a lifetime warranty for a pretty penny.

However, Bed Bath and Beyond has a great warranty policy, and many people have great luck having torches replaced in-store! If they say no, you can repair it yourself super easily and inexpensively -

If your budget allows for a more-than-entry-level expensive torch, for less than a Vector costs at a smoke shop you can buy one of these serious guys, which some say are the best torch for heating nails:

I was recommend the Big Shot by several people. Mine is due to be delivered today along with a bottle of butane.

I'll test it out with my quartz banger when I get home and tell you how it goes.

The small Eagle torch lighter I got at the head shop is absolutely terrible. It guzzles fluid and takes a two clicks most times to ignite. Then the torch does this bizarre thing where I basically have to blow it out to get the flame to go out. So definitely wouldn't recommend Eagle brand.

Exactly what mine does (even after switch is in off position) I have to blow it out. A couple of fellow dab heads I know use Newport torch lighters. They swear by them and say a full load of butane last them all night (40 mins continuous). I'm going to borrow a spare from them and if it holds up I'll pick one up at my local smoke shop. ($25 bucks w/ a small can of butane with it)

Blazer Big Shot ftw. Had mine for over 2 years now and dab every day and it still works like the day I bought it.

The Newport has a more diffused, less focused flame than the Bonjour/Vector/Stok torches I have tried, and since it's less focused it actually takes a bit longer to heat the same nail/banger/thing compared to the other lighters, and the Big Shot beats anything else I have tried.

Here's a few torches including a Newport in action (I'm using that one on the right in the blue shirt. Stok and a bonjour are the other two torches in play, the stok has a bad igniter https://instagram.com/p/2xKkW_KNYs/

An update for any one referring to this old thread, coming across it in a search, etc.

I have recommended the Bonjour torch for years. I've personally bought, and known many people who have bought torches from BBB & Amazon.com and they've all worked great.

However, a friend of mine recently took my suggestion and picked up this model from Amazon:

This is NOT the same torch as a Vector. It is much smaller and the flame output is much weaker than my previous Bonjour torches or current Vector.

RIP bargain Vector, I'll miss you.
