@Enchantre G-ma Dabs! I was just in WA (Spokane) visiting my family and I got to stop by one of the rec stores and picked up a 1/2g of King Louis XIII live resin. It was incredible! Super tasty. I couldnt believe it.

I am trying to get my hands on some fresh frozen Cherry Kush to blast!
Man that is gonna be lovely stuff! I wish I had you guys' access to strains! Still can't complain, I have really lucked out with this strain lol

Tease pic!!!

A gram each of Wookie(Lavender x Appalachia) and Sour Dawg(AJ Sour Diesel x Tres Dawg)
done by Green Dot Labs, one of Colorado's finest extraction companies. I'll post the innards after I crack these open this evening. Everyones all :whoa: over live resin here it seems. I 'll post up a pic of the same companies Live Nectar:bowdown:. More to come. I am ripe with medicine at the moment.

(1st pic I have ever uploaded to FC!!)

Am I right in assuming that in NY oils are not legal at all? Either way, that is a fuckton of wax lol - you will no doubt be enjoying that my friend!

Looks fascinating too! I've never come out with product of that consistency/appearance when making my concentrates. Do you know what solvent it was made with, or is this dry sift?

NY is lame, we gotta legalize so theres more access to some good quality and diverse stuff -_-

but that looks like some pretty stuff there, hows the taste?

99% sure it's not BHO but I will find out how and what.
I think it's supposed to be med grade stuff.
It does taste really good. Has almost a fruity smell when I opened it.
I've only had some darkish stuff about a year ago tasted like resin and melted when handled.
Definetly a different high ,and a little goes a long way I would do 1-3 solo stems with flowers, just 2-3 hits of this and I'm good.

I've had bho crumb up like that a few times.

Here is a batch I didnt a while back. Kind of similar texture just different color.

It usually happens when I purge at a higher temp (120-140F) for multiple days.

From my experience the genetics of the plant, the temperature, the surface area, and the time purging all play a role in end texture/consistency.

It could definitely be something else, but bho would be my guess too.

If you look up honeycomb or crumble that is what it looks like, just broken up into pieces.

Medical grade just means it would pass a residual solvent test with <10 ppm IIRC. That's what most dispensaries require when selling oil.

You can make a medical grade product with or without a solvent.

Full melt bubble hash made with ice water or oil made using the rosin tech would be considered a solventless extract.

Using a polar or non polar solvent such as butane, ISO alcohol, co2, hexane, propane, etc would be a solvent extract, however if it is purged properly (<10 ppm of residual solvents) it is considered to solventless (ie has near zero residual solvent present in the oil).

Here are the residual solvents they test for:

This will be a fresh frozen live resin Cherry Kush popcorn run.

3 oz of wet material filled my ~32g tube.

I got the popcorn about 2 hours after the plant was chopped. It's not super frosty, but it has a really really nice smell. I'm not expecting a crazy big yield, just looking for something that tastes incredible. If the wax tastes like it smells it will have a very fruity yet slightly bitter (like wine bitter) taste. It's all free so either way I'm excited :ko:

I packed the tube at 1am last night and put it in the freezer. I'll do the run after the sun goes down

I'm running 14g of NYC Diesel and 14g of Local SourPurple Diesel...results to follow.
Talked with my connect about getting Fresh or fresh frozen. Eliminates their time and effort to cure. Price should be 50% less for the water...we will see.

@BoogerMan let us know how that run turns out. I've made lots of oil from Cherry Kush and it always comes out sappier than I'd like and somewhat dark as well. It's always made a very tasty end product but the sappy-ness makes it less than ideal to work with. Cherry Kush is one of my favorite strains of flower, just always had trouble getting the oil to turn out right. I've never ran it fresh frozen so that might make a difference, good luck with your run.

Thanks @walrus! I'll post some pics later tonight so you can at least see the color :D

Texture I'll report about after a few days of purging

And I will definitely be able to get some of the cured Cherry Kush in about 3 weeks so ill blast that and compare to the live resin :brow:

Here is the live resin all pattied up in the vac.

Yield was low as expected. Haven't weighed it out yet, but it's maybe 1-1.5g.

But that color and smell :rockon::tup: I wish phones had smell-o-vision. The aroma reminds me of a Cherry Jolly Rancher :brow: it was seriously hard not to eat a little bit of it

@walrus it is super sticky so far. But from what I've read (and experienced), live resin is usually fairly sappy/wet because of the higher terpine content.

I liked the color and smell so much I had to get some more :D

All packed up and ready for the 24 hour freeze. More pics late tomorrow night/Monday morning. Time to get some sleep now :leaf::zzz:

New run is in the front. Definitely looks and smells great. I had a tiny dab of the run from yesterday and it tastes incredible  it literally tastes like candy. I have to get my hands on more fresh frozen material :D hopefully I'll have some more in a couple of weeks :freak:

The run from yesterday is getting a little cloudy. It's not as dark as it looks in the pic. That's from the flash and focus on the front slab. It's still a nice yellow color but just foggy not clear. Seems like it is going to sugar up. I hear this is fairly common in live resin? Doesn't matter to me. It's all about taste with this stuff

Wiki: a process where cells, whole tissues, or any other substances susceptible to damage caused by chemical reactivity or time are preserved by cooling to sub-zero temperatures. At low enough temperatures, any enzymatic or chemical activity which might cause damage to the material in question is effectively stopped. Cryopreservation methods seek to reach low temperatures without causing additional damage caused by the formation of ice during freezing. Traditional cryopreservation has relied on coating the material to be frozen with a class of molecules termed cryoprotectants. New methods are constantly being investigated due to the inherent toxicity of many cryoprotectants. By default it should be considered that Cryopreservation alters/compromises the structure and function of cells unless it is proven otherwise for a particular cell population.

I could be wrong, but, I do not believe the extraction companies put there cannabis in a Frigidaire before processing, not the good ones anyway.lol

The super sub-zero freeze is the trick, I believe, to "true" live resin/nectar. But I have been wrong before.

Either way, what you made LOOKS like something that would catch my eye in a disp. If it stinks upon opening the parchment paper, I'd hoard a couple g's. Very impressive, man.

Here's a shot of my favorite concentrate extraction companies Clear Concentrates, Cali Clementine and Good Time Lime.

A collab between Green Dot Labs(Colorado) and Clear Concentrates(California) would be my version of the "Dream Team".

Oh man it has been so long since I've seen such beautiful flowers!

Enjoy that live resin boogerman!! BTW I have found my live resins always end up absolute shatter, even with increased terpene content. However, I wonder if different strains will have more terps which can act as a solvent to the others ;)
