Hello to all ! I've been gone a long time, but glad to see things are much better in zap ville and the zap world lives on. HEY HEY MY MY AROMA ZAP WILL NEVER DIE. I now down to 3 zaps , my original myrtle zap retired but still works (4 ring clips) rosewood zap (pre-crz) and my 1 of 7 concrete burl zap (still plugged in and daily used since the day I got it) . I have been using 14v adapter from Jameco sku#2202765 bought from their website , for a few months now. The hits are so much thicker now but no more 2nd 3rd or 4th hit. I love it but I hope it not hurting the rockzap. On another note maybe we should have a ZAP-IN when Rick is released from probation. Much love to Rick and his family . Keep on keeping on and thanks for fighting the fight.

I am lucky enough to have the prototype to the concrete Zap.

The 7 units made afterwards had the heatport set a little deeper.

Time for an update.
Beautiful spring weather here. We are about 3 weeks ahead of last year as far as crops in the ground and how they are doing. We even got a call last week from the head chef who left us with a nice order for cedar planks which we love to make for them. We have lots of scrap "long butt" pieces of cedar we have saved over the years because they were flared too much to make a good saw log. We saved them long enough to get on our sawmill which turns out was a very good thing to do. Now we cut 7" x 23" planks for the CDA Resort by the hundred(planed on one side). They use them to cook some of that beautiful salmon. Sounds like it is getting popular as they seem to want more and more planks. They also want some early spring lettuce which we have so it will be a nice early start for Howling Hills Farm this year.

And then.........I had my last meeting with my PO Tuesday. My probation ends May 6 so we had a nice "little bit about everything" talk. Todd is by far the most human person I have met during my "criminal justice system experience" over the last 18 months. He is mellow and kind and has made life easier on me for the last 8 or so months. My random UA number also came up Tuesday. I mentioned how nice that was to Todd because I did not have to make a second trip to town and he looked at me with a big smile and said....."no, I'm taking you off testing, effective today!" "WHAAAT, I said.....really?". I had not expected that and have been staying squeaky clean to be sure I did everything right up to the end. "Yer done Rick" I still have to pay my cost of probation for a couple months as you never get away from them wanting their money($60/mo). I will also have to go back to court to get the criminal charges dismissed but that is already a done deal except for us filing the motion in court.

So it looks like for all intents and purposes, I am done with my "un-freedom" over this experience. It will be three years exactly on July 25 so we will have to have some kind of a party. It is funny that the last year and a half of the experience was easier that the first 18 months. The first half was loaded with not knowing, disappointments and doubts. We did not know if we would have a home for a while during that time. Trips to the courthouse often with postponements were common. All that paperwork in the mail. YUK!

Time heals. We are both pretty healthy too. Raring to head up to the far corner of the farm today and fix that paved highway hole in our Elk fencing. We picked up a roll of 7 1/2 ft tall very heavy netting yesterday in town. This stuff is heavier than anything we have used in 8 years. Kind of neat to have Elk as our main 'pest' on the farm. Fencing them out is a constant chore. They can jump a 6 foot fence and they are very big critters.

Good to hear those old Zaps keep going in one way or another.

HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN!

How time flies!!
I'm done! With the Idaho criminal justice system anyway. Off probation and ready to get on with life as we knew it before July 25, 2012. It was a "good" experience as we try to make everything in our life. It was very educational for this naive old hippy to see the system from the inside. A world I will never have a part of again as it is full of misdirected people who just cannot pull their head out. It became clear after a short time that many folks in the system DO NOT WANT OUT. Jail and LEO seems to be a very strong security blanket for so many people. I thank my lucky stars that Pat and I were raised with good values and good adult examples as we grew up.
I found another lawyer who was referred by my original lawyers office. Some of you may remember my original lawyer of over 30 years died last year while snorkeling in Mexico. My new lawyer is about my age and is as sharp as a tack. He will be doing all the paperwork, etc necessary to have all the charges against me dismissed as per the terms of the withheld judgement I was given at my sentencing hearing. "I'll charge you $150 to do the paperwork, $100 more if the judge requests a hearing". Music to my ears as I expected it would cost more. Lawyers can be very pricey as we all know.

Thanks again to all at FC for the nice comments and positive thoughts and prayers over the past three years.

Hundreds of hours, many thousand dollars and close to 50 people involved in taking us down and I end up with a clean record. Another example of the incredible waste of manpower and taxpayer resources our nation spends in the War on Drugs.

I also want to thank Pat for being by my side all the way. This would have been much more difficult to handle without her support. And thank you Universe for helping us keep our sanity these last three years.

Hey there Zappers. Good to hear the news Rick!

The port where I plug the power cord into is starting to come out of my redwood Zap. What can I do to get it sealed back in there? Luckily it doesn't come out all the way.... yet. I am careful when using it but would like to fix this if possible. Thanks!

How far does it come out?

If it's far enough to swab the back lip of the port and some of the threads with some Elmer's style white glue and then push it tightly in and hold it there with a clamp or tight rubber band, etc until it dries it might provide enough grip to hold on with gentle use.

If not and you're adventurous you could try and disassemble the Zap and try to fix it in a similar fashion but with better access.

Alternatively you could send it to us and we could attempt the repairs for you. If you're interested in that option just send Underdogette a message to work out the details.

How funny - I was just browsing the Underdog thread and site. Thank you for the suggestions! I will try out the glue because it does come out pretty far.

If I have better glue around like Gorilla Glue or something for wood would that be better than Elmer's white? I would think so

Excellent, glad to help.

Gorilla Glue would almost certainly provide a more secure hold on the jack since it expands. It's expanded 'foam' isn't really structural but in this context it's more than strong enough. It is a bit more 'chemically' but shouldn't be a problem once fully cured (see bottle). If using GG then wetting the jack and applying a tiny dab or two should more than suffice. :2c:

If you use white glue then try to coat as much as the surface as possible.

Either way should work and keep the jack where it's supposed to be.

Final Update on "Zapville Busted by Idaho State Police" (7/25/12)

My birthday was Wednesday. Pretty un-eventful as they normally are around here. Today we delivered more farm goods and got home to the mail and a very sunny day. In the mail was a letter from my new lawyer($150) dated my birthday. It is the last letter about the case.

"IT IS ORDERED that the guilty plea of the defendant made in this case on Nov 7 2013, is set aside and this case is now dismissed"

I am now back to a clean record with all my rights restored.
We learned so much over the last three years. In a few words.....live for today....don't carry grudges......try to understand others, NOT be understood.......we are free to make choices but not free of the consequences.......you can stop a 45 year MJ habit for 18 months if you have to........sure glad that is over.......the criminal justice system is very fucked up in many ways..........and so much more.

JGN be sure you do not twist the plug as that can cause a short in the thin un-insulated wires soldered to the plug.

It sure is nice to see all the Zaps still going strong.
My educated guess is Vito will have this same celebration in a few more weeks.
Everybody out there have an extra giant toke today, this Friday, to help us celebrate the end of "busted".

Little update on my power plug. I used Gorilla Glue and a toothpick to get the glue on a few of the threads and a little on the outside. A couple rubber bands to keep everything tight overnight and now she's back to running super hot just like day one! Easy fix. Thanks for the tip FC

I just bought a used CRZ without any stems. Does anyone know who makes a GonG that will fit the OD of the heater port tube? It appears to be approx 12mm. So the ID of the GonG should be 12-13mm. Perhaps the Solo/Air GonGs? I already purchased a steel tipped NonG from UD (and the Underdogette totally rocked with customer service BTW), but their GonGs will not fit.

A snug fit for a SS tip may be hard to find. If you can wait until tomorrow I can try out my various goodies, see if anything works and report back.

Thanks Madcap79, I am most interested in the GonG. I no longer need a snug fitting steel tip NonG.

@Remus I regret to inform you that the following gongs will not work. Arizer Air, Underdog, HI, E-Nano. There may be someone on the forum (@VaPeD&CoNfUsEd ) that could potentially help you out though.

I'm trying to get a replacement screen and clip into one of my stems. They got poked out by accident. Anyway I am having one hell of a time with the instructions that came on the small piece of paper for replacing screens. Usually I can do this myself but they always seem to pop back out so maybe I am not doing it correctly.

The instructions say to put in the screen from the TIP END and then get push it against the crimp, then install a clip from the TIP END and ram it in as well. That would mean the clip would be above the screen, correct? Well none of my stems came that way so I cannot see how that would make sense.

Which sides should I put my screen and clip in? Anyone experienced Zappers have a easy technique for this? Thank you
