I just received my AC. Its a 510 version on 3.7V. I foolishly tried the doughnut (1701) and the single coil on an eVic at 3.9V. They work so well that its going to be tough getting any work done! Sometimes I wish the post would come latter in the day.

Initial impression is very positive but I need to wait until this evening to try out the double coil.
Looking forward to being able to rebuild these! I had understood that the rebuild kit for the 1701 is imminent? I also need to hope that the German distributor I have found will stock the rebuild kit. The $60 AC ended up costing me €115 with postage and customs costs!

By the way, how does everyone else use the AAF? I have really only used it completely open.
I meant to comment on this yesterday in regards to oil leaking into the reclaim chamber. I used to have problems with that too but it has all but stopped since I started using the AAF washer fully closed. Technique and cool down hits are probably more important but I find the AAF to be a handy crutch.

I really wish there was a "best of" thread for the Persei, over a thousand pages is kind of intimidating. :whoa:
I always thought the site needed a beginners guide or something that explains 3.7 vs 7.4, draw techniques for different voltages/tops, loading and reloading the herc, cleaning suggestions. A flow chart or diagram of what works with what would be cool too. Something that assumes they are just starting out and know pretty much nothing, I would have loved that.

I say someone start an uptech wiki.

For me the 7.4v white rod will glow red pretty quick. Checking the resistance after any reassembly is definitely the way to go though. Invest in a multimeter or the easy Ohm reader off w9tech
com. It will save you a lot of headache in the future!

While in Puerto Rico this week, my trusty SR-74 and Persei rolled off a table onto tile. The threads of the bottom piece of the Herc broke- it's the part that screws into the top of the Persei. Good news is, it still worked when I made contact with the top. Bad news is, I don't see them for sale on the website. Do they have replacements for this piece?

Yes sir we do have replacement bottom insulators available. They cost $10 (Plus S&H) and to purchase one, you would need to add $10 of misc service fees (in the drop down field select 10, then add to your cart) Once you're ready to checkout, in Step 2 in the box next to the Coupon code field, please specify that the $10 misc fees are for an SR-74x bottom insulator. We'll get one out to you!

A Best Of thread, you say. Wiki's, you ask for. I tried to make one of those once for a car thing years ago, setup the framework, but they take a bit of work, and need a few contributors/editors to really function well. The Vaporpedia wiki doesn't seem to see much updating as far as UP Tech gear goes: If an UP Tech wiki existed, would anyone else want to help author/edit?

I better put down the beers and get to work.

i believe you're looking for the bottom part of the heat shield with the internal threaded extension.
i don't see it on their site, but i know it was available from them.

Just had the KISS Alpha Centauri arrive and been using it on my Minicron lite. LOVE IT! Especially dual coil ti cart. That heater is epic on 3.7v and allows me to use the sized load I've always wanted without loss of oil down the sides of the coil. Taste is incredible and I am confident that SiC is the way of the future!

OK so after using my herc and pushing it to its limits I can honestly say I feel 100% vindicated in my choosing of w9tech for all my vaping needs, from now Into the future! The manufacturing is amazingly thought out, the oil reclaim chamber is a GODSEND when I figured it out! I cannot wait to throw away my Gimido enail for a flexo, and I already have an alpha centari on the way! Kudos to you @THC SCIENTIFIC and BTW siiiick color scheme!!

Can you explain what you mean by figured it out. I guess i haven't yet. I figured that is where oil goes to die when I make a mistake and accidentially push the button and not realize it or overheat it without enough cool down hits. You make it sound as if I am missing a secret tip or something?

Huh, totally didn't think to check if there already was a wiki. I've never messed around with one before, I might try to edit the persei one or add one for something else and see how it goes from there.

I've tried that a handful of times and it always ended in a disaster of a mess.

The herc is designed to force the user to cool down the unit after use to preserve taste of oil, what other vapes lack is this. That is why the Hercules taste is there from start to finish. If proper cool down isn't done after use the oil drops from the top section to preserve taste. Instead of just sitting there next to a hot ceramic Rod and cooking the flavor out

No the 1701 fits the Kiss Alpha and the original 1701 fits the standard globes.

I think what was being asked was if you could get a ceramic donut to replace the ti sponge in the herc... like proper dimensions to fit the rod and fill the chamber? Id throw in on a preorder for some test pieces like that...

Yes but that would be the same as the 1701 correct in a kiss alpha Centauri no?

Well I was still learning how to use the herc and was getting used to priming the coil, anyways I ended up losing a .5 between that and my impropory assembled nibbler xl (who knew there where TWO mouth prices!) Well I has assumed I lost all that shatter but lo and behold during my check for cleaning I found a ton of gooey highquality claim, I can use it to twax joints or as late night dabs, its an amazing feature and even if you dont reuse claim it still adds to length of use between cleanings! I honestly just have yet to get used to unscrewing the mouthpeice and getting the coil to stay put!! Otherwise I can't wait for the alpha to arrive! I701!! O_O
