The Herbalizer

First post, I bought an Herbie about ~3 months ago I have been enjoying it almost daily since then. However a few issues have come to mind, not sure if its my specific unit but I've noticed similar accounts from other members:
-bags; my bags leak and have been handled rather carefully and not sure why this happens but perhaps they are just disposable however I used them for very little
-heat; the heat seems to be a little uneven for me. There seems to be a time when it vapes my bud equally at all temps, however at other times it can get very hot. Once the bud actually caught on fire as my piece bang to fill up with what seemed to be yellow smoke. I opened the bowl and sure enough it had actually combusted! While at other times, like currently, setting it at 445F and even with multiple fan cycles the bud looks like it was vaped at maybe ~380F instead.

Apart from these few things I have no complaints and love the time it saves me when trying to get medicated!

The Herbalizer should NEVER combust. Your unit is defective.

I exclusively use at 445 and have never neared combustion.

I've even left this on for hours with the steel aroma pads on top. Only then did I find I ever came close!

Agreed send it in for recalibration @bgioan. I have had herbie since march 11 2014 and have never combusted. Even when I jam the chamber full @445f. They will be able to diagnose and fix whatever is wrong. Hope this helps.

the Hydraline rules.
I just got one.
Would like to see a curved mouthpiece that fits into the top of Hydraline to raise mouthpiece up and out.
More for my wife than me.

Where do you fill to with water? Just even with top of slits?

I fill my hydraline so that it is just a little above the slits.

You said it brotha
Maybe a new @Ratchett plug that had a male end on it ?
I too prefer a bent neck style.
I'm filling right above the slits ,just a millimeter or two above. Works great !
Also enjoy using it on the MV as I see you do as well :)

Ah yes, current weather report---- a high front moving thru via the miniVAP and Hydraline and Super Lemon Haze. It's easier to use with a hydratube as you can pick up the two pieces/ don't have to lean over like with the Herbie and Hydraline.

Herbie works ok with hydraline but would much prefer a neck/mouthpiece to the side piece.

Like you said, Ratchett plug with 18 mm male end and "dual diameter bore" where at very end it fits the big diameter SSV 3/8" ? tubing and in a bit, it fits standard tubing. Then you could also connect two different whip sizes to use with whips OR to attach a j-hook or glass mouthpiece. I'm likely ordering an Oregon Glass Blower 7" curved flared mouthpiece to use now onto the Song.

I had previously asked Ratchett about this and we exchanged a couple PMs and it evaporated.
I'll ask again.

EDIT: have had further discussions with Ratchett on a big SONG with 18 mm Male topper that fits into mouthpiece side of hydratube.
I told him Hydraline tube inside diameter is about 1 1/16 inch. Are other hydratube models the same/ about the same??

With this, while using a hydratube style piece with any vape, you could slip on a glass mouthpiece , like this:

OR "slip a whip" ;) into the SONG so the hydratube is more user friendly.

Comments welcome---here and to Ratchett.
IMO this would make any desktop + hydratube easier to use

For people who have frequently used both the Vapexhale Cloud EVO and the Herbalizer, what would you say are some advantages of the Herbie over the EVO? I like my EVO a lot, but I'm considering picking up the Herbie just for some variety.

Heat up time. The Evo takes a good 20 minutes or so to function optimally. The Herbie only takes a few seconds.

Wow, 10 months! That's a long time. My bags get so sticky after just one week that it makes filling the bag more difficult, and it takes a lot longer to fill to capacity too. It makes me wonder if I am taxing my Herbie too much when that happens, or maybe I'm wasting vapor.
I cut a piece of vinyl hose about 2 inches long that fits flush inside the mouthpiece, extending into the bag. My bags now last a couple of weeks. They used to last about four days.

I received my replacement bowl from Herbalizer on Saturday.

The first thing I noticed when I looked at the new bowl was that the inner metal portion easily spins around inside the outer section.
I'm wondering how many metal inner bowls out there stay in place when you brush them out and how many rotate freely within the outer portion of the bowl?
Mine spins, is easy to clean.

The herbalizer is the best vape on the market hands down. I would like too see a portable vape by Herbalizer with a really fast heat up time. 7-10 seconds like the desktop version. Im purty sure the crafty has the quickest heat up time for a portable vape which takes about one minute. I hope too see a portable herbie in the future. Does anyone know if they are making one? I've heard rumors they are.

My Alfa and Flowermate heat up at around thirty seconds. Alfa is my go to portable!

My Herbie lives in my garage. Now that summer is here, I have confirmed that ambient temperature can have a pretty big impact on performance. When it was cold, I was having to preheat bowls and even then I saw performance degradation. I was almost worried that my unit was not operating properly, but now that it has warmed up, it's hitting as solid as ever. Back to big clouds.

I e-mailed Herbalizer last week inquiring about the availability of the accessories kit. I received a reply today saying they're "not totally sure" when they're expecting to restock.

So some bad news. For whatever the reason my Herbie is now taking a LOT longer to heat up, about 30 seconds to 445F. It used to take maybe 15 or so.

I replaced the screen and cleaned it out. Still slow. May need to contact support...

zombied,

I haven't been keeping up with the thread since Josh resurfaced, but this sounds fishy to me. How would they not know when they're going to restock accessories? They couldn't even provide an estimate? I guess they could be having issues with their suppliers or manufacturer, but maybe something else is up. On the other hand, it seems like the lack of consistent supply for accessories has been a problem since the beginning. Perhaps they're just not very good business people?

Luckily, I haven't had to worry about purchasing accessories from them yet. I clean my unit every few months by soaking the bowl, whip connector, and mouthpiece in ISO. No issues yet. Replacement whip tubing comes from Amazon. I will say that my usage is very light. Daily operation, but I've been going through less than half a gram per week lately. Probably closer to a quarter of a gram!

So I think my whip is so clogged it is effecting heat-up time. It doesn't look really bad, but if I put the empty bowl on it heats up fine, put on the whip and it takes twice as long.

Any recommendations on trying to reclaim the honey in the whip?

search this thread for some of Vitolo's posts with pics of him using a dab scoop to pull it out. Mine doesn't get much gunk very far up the tube. I've only iso'd my whip once in over a year scooping it out like this.

I made my way through 150 pages of this thread over the past few days before deciding to purchase the Herbie for myself yesterday. I decided to order from PuffItUp and its already scheduled for delivery tomorrow. I am always impressed when ordering from PIU, not many companies will ship your product same day when you order at 3:30PM!

Reading about Josh's departure from the company has concerned me a little but there are simply too many positive reviews and impressions of the Herbie for me to resist purchasing. Looking forward to the fast heat-up time and accurate temperature control as those were the two main selling points for me.

Thanks to all of the helpful FC Herbie owners that have provided pages upon pages of useful tips and information to help make my purchasing decision.

Long day at work today whilst dealing with some stomach issues myself. I got home and loaded Herbie with two unknown strains, inconsistent grind (was really hurting and became impatient). Took a few puffs at 445 and then fiddled with my setup a bit after remembering that I still had a spare chunk of Herbalizer whip tubing. Currently running Herbie -> whip -> UFO -> whip -> glass drip mouthpiece (came with the UFO, was not expecting it but am liking it). This is really nice. I still get much thicker clouds with my Underdog and EVO, but the taste of the Herbie at 445 is WAY better than my EVO, and I really appreciate how fast it gave me relief from my stomach cramping.

Received my Herbalizer today but unfortunately I quickly noticed a strange smell when I opened the box. Somehow during shipment the bottle of "DeFunk" opened in the Mezzanine storage compartment and spilled everywhere. The ENTIRE unit now smells like DeFunk and is coated in a fine layer of oil. Because I really have no idea how far the oil traveled throughout the unit I think it will be best to contact PuffItUp before powering the device on. I really don't want to damage it if the oil has reached the electrical components.

Looks like I'll be waiting a little longer to enjoy the Herbie!
