Cheap High Quality Bubbler

What I find strange is that no one is filling the "small markup reseller" hole. I bet quite a few of us would happily pay a 25-50% middle man fee/markup in exchange for having faster/more reliable shipping, no customs, better CS, and better quality assurance. I guess if there's enough suckers willing to pay several hundred percent over the DHGate price why leave that money on the table?

They do. Have you ever visited ThickAssGlass? They buy DHgate glass (and other glass), and mark it up only slightly. I also see stuff often listed on Ioffer with a 50% markup (which is still less than my local headshops)

First off, yes, everyone has a right to make a profit. That's the point of reselling.

Secondly, it's called supply and demand. There is a demand for glass, but not everyone is willing to buy stuff online (to protect privacy). Hence why LHS can charge such an outrageous price and people are willing to pay it.

True, to lie about the product and present it as something it's not is shameful.

Lastly DHgate is not the vendor. DHgate is like eBay or iOffer. It's merely a platform for Chinese vendors to publish thier items on a site where people around the world can purchase. The CS and QC vary from vendor to vendor.

Technically yes this is slightly different than buying retail. Typically retail business involves a customer and a business. Here there's a middleman (DHgate) which holds the money until you approve the shipment. Unfortunately DHgate's customer protection policies seem rather lacking, so there's really not much protection to be expected from using the DHgate platform.
I'm sure the Chinese Government has a hand in the whole deal as well. Remember, China is a communist country. Not capitalism friendly. More than likely the "sellers" face some consequences for lack of performance. I'd be surprised if the sellers get even a majority of our money after it is all said and done.

25-50% mark is only like 10-20 dollars a piece on most dhgate stuff and probably not worth it for resellers to keep a piece in stock and then take it to the post office plus deal with messages from customers. When I think about how much it would take for me to do that I would probably want to be making at least $50 an order profit. Then if you are actually being legit well taxes will eat up like half so I don't fault anyone for slapping a 1 in front of the dhgate price.

I could see resellers sticking around for a while as lots of instagram users don't seem super net savvy, though I have noticed more of the "top-tier" headshops talking down DHGate in attempts at humor so they are sort of spreading awareness. If not for that it is pretty easy for resellers to police their posts and block people who try to blow up their spot.

I bought the D020 about a year ago from thickassglass.com, probably back when it was thickqualityglass.com I think. But I found them because I wanted a cheap honeycomb 2 years ago and less than 100 was literally insane for me to think of at the time. So yea they do have probably some of the best domestic pricing on products, but I wouldn't buy from them unless something like an adapter broke and I needed a quick replacement since I found out I can just get some of the same products directly from china through dhgate. Most of their name brand stuff is on par with Stevens thickness and welding is usually a little better on the joints. They have some exclusive recyclers and water pipes but I've found dhgate to satisfy almost all my needs at about 1/2 the price so I'll wait a month and deal with the language barrier as long as the store has good customer service I'm willing to deal with them!

Hey so what do you guys think of maxqualityglass.com's new e-nail. Thinking about pulling the trigger. Is it just a chinese product with the company logo plastered on the top, like I suspect?

@Dangus saw those purple ones and I am not convinced that you wouldn't end up with a blue one as that is the colour usually seen missing from that lineup. Also most of the other colours look unnatural. Most of the other coloured eggs I have seen don't have coloured joints so it could be legit.

If I accidentally get my order address wrong (moved back home from college) is there any way that I can change the final delivery address even though its already shipped?

NorthernHuskie,

Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Yea, I was iffy on it somewhat...but I have seen other shops with more colors listed than pieces shown in the photos... The colored joints do seem promising as well...but I don't think I need another egg quite yet...

Just noticed the Cnmeng egg priced jumped up a tad too...

Your best bet is to try and get a mail forward setup with the post office ASAP. I *think* this is the form you want to fill out - https://moversguide.usps.com/icoa/home/icoa-main-flow.do?execution=e1s1&_flowId=icoa-main-flow&

Try to do it fast so you can beat the shipment before it hits the US shores

Happy Friday everyone!

Rigged up the ultimate "get the fuck out of my face volcano, I'm watching TV" vape adaptor

Still loving the GB-194. One of the smoothest hitting pieces I own. Super heavy and a wide ass base. It's not even close to being tippy even with all the adaptors and volcano bag attached :D

Nice. Can you describe the adapter you use to hook up a volcano bag to this? I just ordered some custom adapters for using with my Herbalizer and Herbalizer balloons but I also use Volcano balloons with my Herbie. I prefer the Herbalizer balloons because they are easy to hook up to my glass just like your setup.

I dunno..... I think the markups we usually see on Chinese stuff is usually much higher than 100-200%. Sure Walmart, Target, Home Depot, etc, etc. all buy in large bulk orders and often play games to put Chinese vendors in a tight spot - but you know they're not designing, shipping overseas, shipping all over US, and putting anything on the shelf for $0.01 less than they think they can get for it. But, we don't see how that $4 bottle brush we pick up for cleaning glass only cost them $0.15 from China. With the glass we do see the starting price and some feel cheated. That's just business. Claiming something is different from what it is is of course wrong. But, from what I've seen the resellers usually don't even get into whether it came from China, US or mars.

If I were reselling retail I'd be charging as much as people are willing to pay. When sales slow down, have a special sale on whatever items just like every other successful retailer.

I've often wondered how worthwhile it would be to become the middle man for US headshops. Buy your pieces in bulk from China, rebox, and send to headshops for 50 - 75% markup. They'd still double the price and get what they needed. Would guess you could work out some good deals if going with just a few choice Chinese vendors and do OK without having to resell every piece individually.

Sorry.... but people that gripe about taxes and don't seem too certain on what they're talking about kind of get my goat. Taxes wouldn't eat up half. It would depend on how much you're making, and would be based on your profit (after cost, shipping in & out, internet expenses, etc) and no where near 50%. I guess it could if you don't know what you're doing. But, if you're paying someone like me to do your taxes you'd probably be damned close to a loss if not "losing" money and taking those amounts off your other taxable income. :D
