Vapman

One thing to keep in mind if you do decide to smoke tobacco in the Vapman, you will never completely get the smell out...unfortunately I know from experience.
That's why I'm ordering at least two.

While another VM is never a bad idea (at least on the face of it), you might be able to avoid the issue more cheaply by buying another center section? The wood is where the absorption is going to happen. You should be able to clean the pan and (plastic) MP??

Yes, one vapman with two middle sections would work fine.

Although too many vapmans are never enough. Haha.

But yes, two middle sections would be enough.

In my experience - the major absorption is in the middle piece. However, the smell will also get in the holding ring. I also used the plastic pom mouthpiece - and the smell got in there pretty well - I have dipped it in alcohol and in water and baking soda - it got most of the smell out - but not completely - it's not quite pristine. The tobacco smell in the holding ring wont be as intense as the the smell that will occur in the middle piece or build up as quickly, but if you hold it up to your nose you will smell the tobacco scent that was absorbed into it. Also, I believe the smell got into the tiny tubes connected to the crucible. I only vaped tobacco maybe 3 times, but the scent got in there too. Tobacco is notorious for leaving it's scent - and wood especially is quite absorbent of smells. I tried cleaning the middle piece out with acetone - dunked it 3-4 nights in acetone. It did seem to finally get the smell out, but when I heat it up, it smells funny. I think the tobacco smell just went deeper inside. Anyway, I couldn't get it back to pristine condition. I plan on buying another middle piece - that is the major area it affects, but the scent did rub off a bit everywhere else - escept maybe the crucible and filter piece (if you clean those well). Just wanted to share my experience. This is just my 2 cents.

This is so true! It is by far the main reason even most of my friends are not using vapman, very sad but true.

It is the same where I am mate, tobacco mixing is a terrible habit and one that I myself indulged for far too long! I often find myself wondering how many years I took off my life with my 1-2 pack a day cigarette habit alongside my 25-35 joints a day. Then I sometimes drift to thinking about how much I spent on all of that tobacco! I am sure I put a good few tobacco mogul's kids through college lol

As for those interested in vaping tobacco: the middle piece looks like the only place where the tobacco flavor would really get trapped, a second mid section should allow you to use your vapman for other things without any residual tobacco taste :)

Anyone who intends to vape tobacco, please beware that you will get more actives out of tobacco vaping vs smoking in the same way as you do when vaping bud vs smoking. You don't wanna overdo that nicotine!

Still, if you go slow and vape tobacco instead of smoking it, you'll conserve a lot more (which in a country like mine could save you a small fortune at $20+ per packet of cigarettes or $30+ for a pouch of rolling tobacco!) and surely be better off in terms of health outcomes than if you went on smoking tobacco.

Just don't go in vaping as much tobacco as you would smoke! ;)

EDIT: To the above post by @bounce5, I have noticed this too! My tendency to use extremely resinous concentrates accelerates the clogging of the inlet tubes so I have lots of experience cleaning these despite my short time owning the vapman lol.

Tobacco vapists should probably be more mindful to remember to clean out the air inlet tubes under the crucible with careful heating and a steel guitar string (I like to use a g string *rimshot*) - These definitely clog right up with resins from your material!

Agreed, washing the wood will remove a lot, perhaps most, of the contamination. But that which it doesn't remove it drives deeper into the wood. Meaning that while it will smell less afterwards, it (the smell) will actually linger even longer (at a lower level). Bad karma. And the nature will change some since some parts of the contamination respond to the solvents differently than others. Double bad karma?

Metals should be immune, of course. The plastic of the MP should also be immune 'by the book' but I suspect small faults in the surface leave places for it to hide. There, since the material is not porous, a suitable solvent might do it, but as we know not all parts of smoke dissolve in typical solvents. Even detergents have troubles. And on the plastic, condensate from the herb will seal the surface quickly, which solves the problem typically. It's the wood that's the real problem I think.

And the smell does 'get everywhere' and 'linger' (dissipate slowly) but the very fact we can smell them means the nasty stuff is slowly evaporating away again. Still smoker's clothes smell just from incidental contact and washing doesn't really fix that. They need "airing out".

Good thoughts. Thanks.

The Walnut Vapman has arrived! Two weeks after ordering the first one, we've become a two vapman household. My partner likes the flavor of the walnut better, so he'll be keeping that one. We took the Pear to a bbq, but most of the people are heavy HEAVY users, so they were relatively unimpressed. Which is fine. We like it because it is perfect for our needs.

Upon reflection, we decided that the vapman reminds us somewhat of the TARDIS' console:

Glad you guys are now part of the vapman squad!

Yeah the vapman is more of an individual vape and doesn't work too well in groups plus explaining how to use is it is a bitch haha.
It's a good device for a couple. I'll operate the torch and only hand it to my wife when it is ready to give the biggest cloud of the load. If we share three or four of these, it works for us. She is a person who would smoke it if I wasn't around, so she doesn't appreciate the flavorful early hits that I do. So it works very well for us this way.

But I cannot really see three people sharing this unless each person just used it entirely themselves for a single load. It certainly doesn't pass around like a pipe........?

Yup was about to chime in with the same comment, it is cool for 2 people because you can do the torching and just hand it over when it's time to hit but more than that and you'd better be using concentrates to get enough effect for every partaker!

Yes this is how i turned my lady into a vapfam! Now she wants her own one! She keeps asking me 'when are the ebony ones ready' haha. So some time we'll have a yew and ebony his and hers :)

Ps anyone notice how vm seems to be popular with the lady vapers? There are quite a few on this thread, and my lady took an instant like to the little chap? I think maybe the small size and organic feel appeals to the feminine nature? Just an interesting thought?

I was just hanging out, hitting my vapman and catching up on the forum while I was waiting for mrs Nugg to come and join me. I had just read the above post when she sat down. I handed her vapman (which she has seen plenty but never had a close look at) and watched her admire it. After deciding that it was 'cute' she asked if she could try it. It was already packed with a nice bit of outdoor so I heated it up for her. 3 hits, first with no visible vapor because I knew she would like the taste of this strain, the second had some visible vapor and the third being a pretty big could for her. Like a gentleman I finished the rest of the bowl because she doesn't like the high temps. A bit more intimate than sharing a arizer solo session together. You have to be in tune with your partner and the vapman to get the temps right.

We were also sipping on some grape cider that we picked up on our travels through the countryside today. Couldn't think of a better way to spend a Sunday evening!

Vapman for two... yup.

When we had the station and the kids here (adult children, over 25..) it worked out well with two people per vapman, and we round robin'd with the station... got us all toasted. I agree, having just one for the four of us would have been a lot less fun, and more waiting/dumping/refilling.

Love the Tardis! :) that's even one of my favorite Doctors!

@Nugg you hit on the right word for sharing the Vapman with another person. It's an intimate experience that works great for a couple, but it's too intimate for a group of dudes to be spoon-fed their hits from the torchmaster (unless that's your thing, and then that's cool too).

I couldn't agree more with 2 is company and 3 is a crowd. I use the same torch and pass with my gf all the time. Just two days ago after a shift at work I was sharing a vape session with some trainees I had who both work in the boiler union. I gave them a quick demo and went about the session, we got about 5 hits and it was beat. So we went in on round two same deal 2 cyphers and I go to dump and see a red amber at the bottom. All is well tho no damage to my vapman, but lesson learned don't expect welders to be easy with the torch haha. On another hand the on dude said he was looking for something like the vapman and asked if it would do concentrates, I told him it's a beast with hash and anything else once u simply pop a screen in. The vapman legend lives on and continues to intrigue minds in all corners of the world.

On a side not I'm expecting the mflb long walnut stem to arrive today. I've been eyeing these for a few months but finally picked on up off puff it up. I think a hash session is appropriate to break this new addition in. I'll definitely return with some feedback later today or tomorrow.

My experience is that the vapman appeals to people with a certain estethic sense. Women, connoisseurs of different kinds, artists and other creative people.

I love scifi stuff way more than steampunky stuff, but the Vapman isn't as steampunky as people say. It's just nice.

My first vape was the PnP and everybody commented on how ugly it was. And now eeeeverybody comments on the good looks of the Vapman.

I just packed up my heating station to send back:cry:. I included a letter stating that I would prefer a "VAPMAN STATION SERIES II" instead of a refund but we'll see how that goes.
I also made a mention that last night my heating station would not work properly. The light would go from red to blue, no orange. Other than that the heating station was one of my most valued possessions and I would really love to have it back again.
