0 stems broken for me , don't know how that happened

I broke 2 stems in the last few months i have owned the Air. Also broke a bubbler, a spoon pipe, A magi-cut steel file, a tumbler, the belt on my dryer and a vacuum in that same time as well...

Hi my name is Woody and i break stuff.

Oh... And if your wife ever says "dont use my vacuum in your workshop or you'll mess it up" She is likely right... Home vacuums are not made to suck up large amounts of wood and steel particles... On that note.... Clothes dryers are not made to stonewash steel for 12 hours straight either.... Who knew ??

It's like I'm the English version of you only without the wife, although my daughter is always telling me I do dumb stuff, guess if I had a wife I'd have less broken shit :lmao: do you also have spare bits leftover after fixing things? ;)

Yea, i say those "extras" are put there by the manufacture to guarantee "it" breaks right after the warranty runs out... The first time i used that the wife believed me... Now she just tells me to shut up and figure out where they go....

an entertainment center fell over 1 time... Just 1 time, but ill never live it down.

Its not that im destructive, i just dont always have the right tool for the job, but i never let that stop me... even when i SHOULD lol.

Just a bit earlier i decided to whip up a small wood block to hold my favorite Air GonG, a new slide on the way from JoDa, and the pokey stir tool for the Air.. Something simple... But i wanted the 2 holes to fit both/either 14mm and/or 18mm. SO a larger opening going down to a smaller hole on the inside... No problems... Except i dont have a drill bit large enough for the 18mm to fit....

So first i drilled the smaller diameter hole, then i used a dremel with a sanding drum and basically burrowed straight down into the smaller diameter hole to open it up enough to fit the 18mm.

I went through 8-10 sanding drums, and destroyed the 2 sanding drum holders i had.... Just disintegrated the rubber. But i got what i wanted.... More or less.

14mm Air gong on Left and 18mm on right. Both fit snug/secure in either hole. I havent finished the top yet, i wanted to snap a picture and once i finish it it will take a day or so to dry and i dont want tung oil on my GonGs lol.

Many vapes & accessories. Always happy to help
Just ordered my AA guys n gals from PIU. Should hopefully be here in a few days, can't wait! Will report back with a video! And I think I can use my whip and Elbow I used with my MFLB to hook up my AA to my lil bubbsy.

Congrats, mate! You'll definitely have some nice airytales.
I'd recommend buying at least 1 additional batt - maybe some domed screens and a water tool for sure. Then you have full potential in every direction :)

Have fun and let us know how you like it!

Thanks man! I know it's been posted, but do you or anyone else know the cheapest/best place to get domed screens? And why domed? Why not a fine or ultra fine or whatever else is offered? And I've heard people say something about adding an extra screen in the default stem or something to prevent herb from coming through and to reduce load size. Not sure exactly what this means, as I haven't gotten my unit yet. Just uneducated on the whole screen thing in general when it comes to this unit.

Check these out:

I was reading up on screens as well and supposedly they fit in the Air and Solo stems pretty nicely. A little pricey for screens but the same seller has different sized lots so you can get a couple to try them out before you buy a large amount. (Page 1327 of the Solo thread has some good info you might wanna check out as well.)

I am wondering though, does anyone know about how long one of those screens should last for?

At least a few months. Longer if you clean the screen every week or two.

To be honest they last indefinitely if cleaned. I've been pretty neglectful on this last screen. I clear the unit after every use but haven't cleaned it with iso in months. It's gotten to the point where the underside of the screen is caked with honey oil and I can't remove it. I had to jam something up the bowl side of the stem and force the screen out, basically ruined it because the draw resistance was getting too much to handle.

To put this in perspective I usually vape 3-4 bowls in a weekday with the air. And about the same, if not more, on the weekends depending on how much time I spend away from home.

Question. I am a former Solo owner and currently use my Evo exclusively. I was wanting to get another portable vape but im not sure if the AA is good or if i should possibly save up and possibly get a crafty? or i could get a solo once again.

They do indeed fit very well, and being heavier gauge wire they are really tough. I 'flame' mine (heat them to glowing and brush the ash off after cooling, no ISO) and expect them to last dozens (if not hundreds) of such cleanings as long as I don't screw up. That's a dollar screw up, so I don't fear that much. They look like this installed:

Highly recommended, even if Sinclue did find them first (what's the old saw about blind pigs?).

With your eyes closed you really cant tell the difference in vapor between Solo and Air (they use the same stems). If you liked Solo but would like a smaller package with shorter battery life but easily changed batteries, Air has something new to offer. Otherwise if you liked Solo you'll most likelylike Air, and if not most likely not?

The Air is similar to the Solo it's just stream lined and more stealth. It has good taste and uses about the same amount of herb. The Solo has more temperatures to choose from. The Air is very well made too.

There must of been a reason you don't use the Solo any longer? The Air hits as hard as the Solo.

My last two Solos got broken/thrown away unfortunately. I enjoy my EVO very much, but the ability to walk around with the portable is very nice. so Air Solo or Crafty?

I just keep a little glass jar full of ISO alcohol and screens sitting ready to go. Whenever a screen is getting too dirty, plop it in the jar, pull out a clean screen, rinse with water, good to go!
I've been rotating the same 3-4 screens for over a year now.

Same screens for over a year?? That's magic!! Mine lasts me about a month, then i discard them and throw in a new one. Wouldnt even last a month except i blow them out real well in between uses. Im certain alcohol washes would prolong their life.... But i figure i can use a new screen every month and still only spend a few dollars a YEAR on screens.

Wait.... The Air has been out for over a year?

Time flies.

:rockon:I just got a Vortex stem and I must say I was WOWED right away! The length made it feel ultra comfy sort of wand-like. The taste and cooling factor are as expected from planet vape. The clouds were amazing on green, yellow, and red. Grant it that it's a straight bore right through, where does all this dam magic take place I wonder? Thanks @WoodVillain for turning my Air into a sweet new vape!

Very nice , sometimes I go into my shed with a lump of wood and just come out with a......
smaller piece of wood :rofl:but a big smile.

It's gotten to the point where the underside of the screen is caked with honey oil and I can't remove it.

You could try using a torch lighter on the outside of the stem, should loosen it enough for easier removal.

I dont mind but you could have just searched domed screens yourself :p

I haven't personally used them so cant vouch for seller or product, I was just looking for AA stuff on ebay the other day and saw these pop up.

I actually half have these ordered, why half? Well I disallowed myself an eBay account a long time ago (cost too much money lol) so waiting on my little sis to get them ordered but she's been out of the country and decided to stay an extra week :bang: she should be back today so will pester her tommorow and report back when I get them.

I don't smoke and don't fancy having to answer a bunch of questions about the funny little silver screeny thingies I just had delivered in the mail, so I've improvised with a lot of small brass screens I've had laying around for a year. Brass obviously not ideal but that's what I had handy once I realized that using a screen was going to be part of vaping with the AA. I keep my eye out for better screens (ss) when I venture to an area with a head shop and will have to get something else some time soon, as you can see these don't hold up real well (the screen's been used for a week or so and cleaned just now with a quick hit of fire then iso.

Getting the domers ahead of time is a smart move so you'll be keeping things nice and tidy from the get go. The picture below shows how I use mine. I don't use it to shorten up the bowl for smaller loads, although the domes shown above by @OF show how those really do cut down on the area available for packing in material. My screen, domed as best I could do around the tip of my baby finger, serves the purpose of keeping the holes in the stem bowl from clogging, which they will do quickly without a screen. I tried doing a larger dome with a larger screen, but the folds created in the screen when I molded the dome allowed too much material to gather and even with the improved hits (the added distance between hot air and material allowed by a well-domed screen, even though not great, really does improve hit quality) I went back to my tiny guys.

Here's a stem with hand ground bud (left my grinder somewhere…). You can see how there's a space for keeping the holes of the stem clear.

Just wanted to stop in and say something about the air.

This thing is perfect for my dosing. I don't think gone into a paranoid thought spiral since I've got it. Just laid back, calm and happy.

Some find it a negative that sometimes vaping doesn't get you to the extra level. I used to vape with the nano before bed until I got to that point. While I am not a heavy stoner or anything my use before bed still had a negative impact on my sleep. The air cut this back. When I first started smoking I stayed with it nightly. The first time I didn't have any I realized I had no idea how to fall asleep anymore. My use of the air gives me the right amount to feel like I am falling asleep naturally. I have even found myself not reaching for the vape for those nights I am tired enough.

I feel closer to using medicinally and less Dependant.

I'm curious to break out the nano to see if I can maintain this, or will I fall back to higher temps?

As for screens^^ I don't even use I so I just use a burnzomatic torch and blow the ash off (screen held with tweezers). I haven't noticed any decay of the screen with this method.

Most of us are trying to find the right way to use the Air stems so we can have the ideal experience that we can. So trying out different methods that match what works the best way for you. I like the deep basket style that @Sinclue suggested some months ago.

I've reposted the screens before.

EDIT
Before bed and vaporizing it comes down to a good strain. Also if you use cannabis continually without a break throughout the day you will not get the needed results.

@bluenavey00 Those look ideal.

Same thoughts here. Not an unpleasant high yet with my AA. My buzz is controlled. What that means for me is that I'm definitely using more. Because I like it more!

I posted on a different thread last night about vaping before sleeping. I never did prior to getting my AA (my first and only vape to this point). Now it's what puts me to sleep
