I don't have any brand new ELB's left but I don't remember that brown tint until after they were used. Maybe I'm wrong....

As for the unit, I can't see any signs of use (at least in these pics).

Only brown tint that I can see is on the welds.
And that's normal for a brand new ELB.
Every ELB varies in that - some are weldded nicely so there are no visible marks from that.
And some are welded more powerfully with visible welding marks.
Actually, when you can't see welding marks, then you can be worried that ELB could one day break.
All of my broken ELBs are those which had weak and not very visible welding marks.
Uglier is sometimes better.

Anyway when I look at these ELBs, their bottoms look silver shiny.
That is the first part of an ELB, which gets an untreatable dark tint after usage.
And it's still shiny.

First post here. I actually just received my EVO yesterday after a couple of months reading this forum. I'm extremely impressed with the device. It's amazing! A massive thanks to all of you for your great posts which led me to this fantastic vape.

I had a quick question for anyone with the Swagger Showercap. I was a little over enthusiastic the first time I filled it and water leaked into the bottom chamber. I have been able to get 90% of the water out but a small amount remains - is there a particular method for getting the water out? I imagine knowing would be helpful for cleaning purposes too.

Thanks!

The infamous showercap and it's water trapping issues. It's the only HT that traps the water like this.
I've never been a fan of that tube, but if I had one I would try to shake it to get majority of water out and then sit it on the EVO to let the ramains evaporate.
Hitting it empty could also speed it up.
Then I'd try to keep it dry and not overfill again.
I know water in the bottom can mess up a session by making the HT really steamy.
And hitting a hot steamy HT is not comfortable at all.

Thanks for the advice, really appreciate it. I was able to get most of it out with a vigorous shake and have left the remainder to evaporate. Will definitely be much more careful for future use.

I hadn't heard of the water trapping issue with the Showercap which is a bit of a shame but it does hit VERY well so I'm happy with it. :) I also have a D-021 which works great and have a D-020-D on the way so look forward to giving that a try.

I was seriously impressed with how well the EVO was able to extract even a tiny amount of herb into a massive cloud. Now to find somewhere in AUS (or that will ship here for a decent price) to grab a hydrafoot.

Damn you, party liquor
x3 on the blowing through the showercap. I use mine daily and change the water daily and I can almost get mine dry with this method. Raising and lowering while blowing though it helps too. Picture an elephant blowing through its trunk...just be prepared to be made fun of if seen doing this haha

Ordered my Cloud EVO directly from vapexhale last wednesday and it just got here....
pretty sure I just got a used unit directly from the manufacturer... gg

^I literally just took it out of the box and placed it down.... that definitely looks USED as fuck. Look at the freakin ELBs... am I just tripping?

Like @Seek and @stickstones said, I don't see what looks used about it? Maybe it's just not showing through in the pics, idk. What specifically looks used to you?

Looks brand new to me. The differences in texture/shininess on the enclosure is totally normal for the material they use. (Forgot what it is called.) I bought 2 from the IGG campaign and received them about 1.5 years ago. The one I use has the different texture/patterns on the cause and I just pulled out the one I only used once to test and it has the same but in different places. Enjoy your EVO! (PS--After you use an ELB a few times you will know what a used one looks like!)

I've already wrote down the silver ELB bottoms. Here is some more.
The joint looks bright white, which means so baked in yeloowing from heavy use.
Even it's ground finish doen't yet look smeared out by female GonG joints, which is probably the first visible sign of use I know of.
Then everything else we can see are some photosh of the Zytel finish. Some photos looks like it's a bit dirty, but that doesn't mean used.
My replacement came coated in dust, but it was brand new.
And that texture is normal for this Zytel material, I can't see any scratches or other damage to it.
But I think it probably is very hard to damage this kind of superplastic. But I won't try lol.
I've never seen any wear and tear even on my heavily used EVOs.
I've actually only seen a damage to this heavy duty enclosure on few faulty unit that went into overheat.
In that case these units basically turn into a little helk, the glass would go glowing white and melting and stuff.
In the most extreme of these cases, there were a little burn marks on the enclosure around the MOLTEN glass.

Ugh... not sure what to say guys. Couple friends were over and all of us were tripping hard when I pulled it out of the box. Yeah the GonG is clean, I could totally do that with a cotton swab and ISO though. The plastic is what really got me. The shit looks sanded on the top left and even feels like it. I really want to post my first impressions, but may be a little too soon. If you would ask me to judge it right now based on performance and a scale of 1-10... 2. Very sad at the moment, will keep trying to make this work but eh.. very weak clouds and nearly burnt buds at 2-o-clock position.

Sanded feel is normal to occasionaly occur on the texture.
This plasic is probably so tough it can't even make a smooth surface when it's made.
I can understands how it can let one down when seeing it forst the first time tripping.
The impression really sound weird. Are you filling the ELBs halfway with dry and ground herbs?
Also if you want the biggest clouds, let the unit stay on green for a while so the heat get more spread out in the glass tube.
Also if your buds come out burnt, you are probably pulling on it way too slowly.
Hit it harder. Not like a vape but like a bong.
(and definitely not like a MFLB, you would probably ignite it that way at least my EVOs do)

I tried filling the ELBs half way at first, but that was just giving super small hits. I filled them up all the way and even pushed it down and put more, but I think that may have combusted, gave me a really weird taste... almost like thick nasty smoke. And I even bought one of the MFLB finishing grinders... the grind is SUPER fine, like freakin dust... that's a lot of bud to put into these ELBs.

I've been pairing them with my bongs, but I'll try to heat it up longer and also rip it longer.
Would you recommend a smaller bubbler or larger full size bong?

It doesn't have to be dust-like, any grind is good.
And you shouldn't overfill and really shouldn't never push it down.
It vapes best when filled loosely to 10-90%.
Actually when you load too much, it will take a long time to start filling the tube with vapor and you will also have to hit it a lot more times.
Also you would find the topmost layer just under the cap less vaporized, possible even still green.
When you load less the vapor start flowing faster and easier and also you finish it faster and better.

Some people have so little lung capacity that when they hit an overfilled bowl, the end their pull when the vapor starts being produced. They don't get anything then.
Having a good lung capacity and power is always a big advantage with this vape.

Try running it on 3pm for 15 minutes, then fill it 75% with dry, ground, good herb. Don't pack. And hit it hard for as long as you can. That's the most optimal way of using it and it must work on a properly working unit.
The leftover should be brown all around after few hits, no greens or blacks. Blacks can occur when you hit it too slowly on high temp or if your unit somehow run way hotter than mine, green can occur when you load too much or vape too little or the temp is too low.

Also check your bamboo.
Visually inspect it if there are any cracks (when not tripping).
And you can try a blowing test:
put your finger on the bottom to seal the intake air-tight and try to blow through the top.
If you can blow air in the glass is broken somewhere.
The warranty card says you should check the glass in 24 hours of getting the package.

@blazedd - I thought i was the only person in the world unhappy with my Evo! Purchased about a month ago after waiting and looking forward to it for 18 months, my unit seems to run really hot, i use it with the Hydrabomb HT and have to hit it between 10 -12 on the dial, anywhere higher and im almost sure it would combust, but even at low temperatures i never get a nice taste, i get huge clouds and it bakes the hell out of me but it just never tastes nice, tastes kind of similar to the taste from a MFLB.

I contacted Vapefiend about the problem and they said it could possibly be a cracked bamboo and suggested the method Seek mentioned above to test it but when i did that it doesnt seem to be damaged.

Ive tried putting less water in, even tried putting water level below the top of the perc and still the same taste. I thought it may be the herb i was using as to be honest its not the greatest as its quite hard to come by where i am but the same herb tasted really nice in my Volcano so i dont think it could be put down to that. Vapefiend were really good though and did say to send it into them and they would look over it to see if there was any faults ect.. just wondered if anybody else may have any suggestions before i go down that road?

The first obvious suggenstion on no good taste from EVO other than the disproved bad herb would be cleaning the tube and the ELB.
Possibly to even clean the parts that were welded so everything is as clean as possible to take anything unclean in the vaporpath out out the question. Small cracks in the bamboo could possibly pass the blow test and sometimes couldn't be visible from any angle. Other than that IDK.
Sometimes a little bit of bad smell can be coming out of the bottom especially inverted, but i think that can't make it into your airpath in any quantity that could have any effect on taste at all.

Yeah, pretty much tried all of the above, its been the same from the very first time ive used it and due to my OCD i never let anything get dirty at all!

Quite hard to explain but its not that its a 'bad' taste, its just not the nice fresh flower taste you would expect. Hopefully be laying my hands on some better bud in the next week or so, so im holding off until then and keeping my fingers crossed it was just down to the not so good material although as i said earlier the same stuff did taste quite good through the volcano so im really not too sure thats the issue

Maybe the problem could be just that it's not very possible to make cloud give you mixed temp hits. That kind of hits where some herb is cold and some hot. Hits, that are both strong and tasty (but finishing them off is tricky and needs stirring). The cloud can be set low and deliver weak but tasty hits, or set higher, bathe all of the load in heat and deliver its trademark powerful hits but not as tasty.

Mixed temp vapor is imo not the optimal way of delivering vapor, but it is probably the most tasty way. The flavor is there, not only airy, but bound to all the cannabinoid goodness form higher temp to make it possibly even more pronounced.
hovewer this vape is so perfect is can't deliver this way. :D How ironic.

hahah, I didn't mean tripping like high as fuck, we were just like what the fuck is this sent directly from manufacturer, tripping like we couldn't even believe a manufacturer would send out a unit like this.

I tried setting at 3 for a while, ground up some buds and watched some clips, and did a small layer of bud, small addition of kief, some more bud up till around 75% filled up and... well I got better clouds and remains but effects are just weak. I keep finding myself going back to the Mighty to get where I need to be or even combusting... ugh. It really annoys me how a cheaper, portable unit outperforms this... especially in vape bonging...

Also.. it was blinking red/green after a while instead of just staying green. Might be something to do with heat, as scotty mentioned - this thing gets HOT. I can feel the heat through the sleeve they included!

or even combusting...
That could be your problem. People who don't stop can have a tough time liking the vape experience. I know Mighty does it for you, and I love mine as well, but the high between the EVO and Mighty is different.
Also.. it was blinking red/green after a while instead of just staying green.
Thats the auto shutoff.

The most important thing is good herbs. I remember Steve at Arizer telling me many times that most of the complaints he gets are solved by acquiring good herbs. Average or less herbs give meh vapor.

It sounds to me like scotty's unit may be running hot. Something tells me it's technique with blazedd.
