Vaping dry herb with an Eleaf iStick?

Hello,

I recently bought an Eleaf iStick w/ a Subtank mini to vape e-liquids. I am really enjoying the vaping experience so far. But I am now interested in vaping dry herbs as a safer/healthier way than smoking it.

I am a college athlete so I am sold on the fact that vaping without combustion is healthier on your lungs. I feel this is a better way to medicate and not have as many drawbacks in my stamina or performance.

Now that I currently own an iStick 30w and already spent quite a bit of money on it (I am sort of on a budget as a college student) I was looking to see if I can get an atomizer that I can use dry herb with. I found that the Cloupor Cloutank M4 was an option, but does not truly vape the herb. Is this true? If it's being heated by the iStick without a lighter flame, how bad can it actually be for your lungs? I am not interested in vaping any wax... Only dry herbs. Do you think this is the cheapest and best option? Or do you think I should wait to save up some cash and go with a flowermate? I also found some deals on GroupOn, there is a vape called Sapphyre Voyager by Eco-Cigs and another called the Toke by Vapor Connoisseur for under $60. Anyone heard of these? Are they worth giving a shot for the price? I am looking for a portable on the go device that I can throw in my pocket/book bag.

My dilemma is why spend the money to buy another battery when I already have one. I just want the cheapest and healthiest vaping option. I won't be medicating too heavy, mostly just nighttime to relax, so moderately. What I really want is to be able to medicate without all the bad toxins getting into my lungs and resulting in bad performance with my sports. How bad is it if I combusted with my iStick and a Cloutank?

Does anyone have any suggestions? Anything is appreciated. Thank you!

Do you mind using a lighter? there are many affordable vaporizers that use flame power for a heat source, reducing parts cost and need for charging. I use a vaporgenie atm, costs $55 new from the manufacturer. I'm not aware of a 510 threaded attachment that won't burn the flower, and IMO the cloutank isn't any better than a blunt or pipe. If the plant matter is ash, it went in your lungs, right? With a vape, even flame powered ones, there is a pile of waste left over, ready to be used for topicals or edibles, or just tossed out..
The 2 units you mention look like rebranded versions of a popular, affordable portable that I have no experience with so I can't help much there, but I think you are on the right track asking questions here:)

Thanks for your response man. Although the vaporgenie isn't really an "on-the-go" vape, I will definitely look in to it. Looks like a great little tool. And yeah it looks like a lot of the 510 attys just burn the flower. I am not looking to have that ash after I vape a bowl.

You've come to the right place to find out about vaporizers. There really isn't a cheap vape pen out there that will vape flowers as of yet. Eventually there will be a vaporizer called the Grasshopoer coming out (we hope). It will possibly be released in a few months to the public. Many cannabis patients and recreational users have been waiting for this one.

You really can't vaporize flowers in the unit that you have. You are on a budget so you maybe wouldn't be able to afford the Magic Flight Launch Box, it's about $115 with a lifetime warranty. You have to insert the battery every time you want to draw. So it's an on demand kind of vaporizer.

I have the Arizer Air it's kinda e-cig looking. It's sleek and doesn't scream "cannabis" but it costs around $200. The Solo is an Arizer product but it's larger, about the size of a can of Red Bull, it's portable and cost around $150. I have both the Solo and the Air and they are great portables that have wonderful flavor. These are more of a session vaporizer. The Air turns on for 10 min and the Solo for 12, your session doesn't have to last that long though.

Look at other smaller vaporizers on FC and around online. You want to vaporize for your health, there are some vaporizers that get too hot and your ABV looks black afterwards - you don't want that. Fully extracted ABV looks brown with lighter and darker flecks. Different strains of cannabis gets lighter or darker when it is spent and usually there is no longer vapor left from your herb.

There are no dry herb atomizers that truly vape herbs out yet, but the flowermate is a very solid choice for a first vape. I recommend purchasing from puffitup since they'll price match anything you find, and they have excellent service and are very popular here.

So I'm pretty much looking at The Flowermate and the VaporGenie at the moment. Do you think the VaporGenie is still safe to vape even though it uses a flame?

If your budget gets increased I highly suggest the XMAX II Pro, just kills the FM. Also better taste.

VaporGenie is recommend with a torch, or click piezo lighter. Not a bic.

It is safe. I would recommend one if you are trying to save. Highly recommend it over the FM unless you need stealth while you're using.

With the flame powers like vaporgenie, vapman, lotus, etc you don't actually touch the flame to the flower, you heat an intermediate surface that heats air passing over the flower, vaporizing the goodies :)

Plenty of people use butane when vaporizing, I don't have a vaporizer that runs on butane myself. I've thought about getting the new Flowermate, it sure looks great but I don't have any experience with it. It has a nice sleek design. I don't like the other flowermake looks for some reason, it looks cheap to me but that's my opinion and I have never tried it.

It's a tough decision buying a new vaporizer, you can't try before you buy unless you have a friend with a vaporizer that you want to try out. That doesn't happen very often, a lot of people still combust.

You are going to save so much on herb that will make up for the cost of your vaporizer. You will make up the cost the first month or two.

Agreed. I am just going off reviews and stuff I read off the internet so I haven't had the chance to actually have one of these devices in my hand.

This is all great advice though, I appreciate it a lot!

But I like it!
Funny, but I got a Cloutank when I didn't know what I was doing, and the guy in the shop didn't know what he was selling. Anyways, it's cheap. And not really a vape, either. Especially it's not a flower vape - you'll do better to heat your herb on the hot exhaust of your car, and sit there and suck. So Cloutank and dried herb do not work, no matter what it says on the packaging (I'd take a pic of my packaging, but it's in a box ready to move on the weekend...). Sometimes you really do get what you pay for... If you can get it really clean sell it asap...

Get a dedicated flower vape, and there are loads of great options out there. Vapman is awesome, and my go-to for when the power goes out.

Thanks for the response. The Cloutank seemed too good to be true. Think I am going to stay far far away from it and save my lungs haha.
