Here Here, it just so happens that Grasshooper labs is on my way home and I can tell you that at 10 p.m. the lights were on and people were working so I say give them a break, it is crowdfunding after all. Crowdfunding is NOT an investor model, it's a new economic model that can and DOES work and can prove important to product innovation and allowing new ideas to market.

It also requires patience and reasonable expectations. I think Grasshooper labs, when they launch will prove the viability of this financing model.

That said they are under pressue to launch at the right time to prove the not only their product, but the financing model for products that come after.

I for one, would rather they launch late and ready, proving the efficacy of the financing model than early and unprepared undermining the product I crowdsoured by more importantly the reason I crowdsourced which is to support the economic concept.

I feel confident that Grasshopper labs will be a success story which is good for vaporist but great for crowdsourcing.
Go stop in and get us answers! :p

What sort of legal compliance would they need to do for a vape?
(Genuinely curious, I have no idea).

Maybe for the charger?

Also, given that you've got 45 watts of power sitting an inch from your lips, you'd think there would be some safety compliances (but I guess the Gov. doesn't regulate that aspect?)

If they are shipping internationally, there are all kinds of potential legal snags. Come to think of it, I've never seen a single word from anyone that indicated the GH is for use with anything other than cannabis. That in itself is a potentially big issue.

They are based in Colorado, under Amendment 64 to the state constitution cannabis paraphernalia is legal and constitutionally protected to posses, sell, distribute and manufacture.

Hmm. On IGG page they posted this, I think from the beginning of the campaign but I wasn't around then:

i'm too lazy to look it up, but i think the term they used was "legal compliance" which i think is just a fancy way of saying they gotta make sure they don't promote it in the user manual or elsewhere as marijuana paraphernalia. Don't want a run-in with those nasty Feds.

has anyone actually vaped any of these other things? i'm curious about the lavender and tangerine peel and coffee. Although, since the lowest temp the grasshopper can achieve now is 130, lavender is right out. This graphic was made back when the grasshopper would go down to 100C.

I realize that works great for in-state sales. Do you really think that would apply anywhere else?

Their original campaign on IGG had a picture that listed different herbs that can be vaporized, such as mint, some teas and a few other things, iirc.

Found it: https://images.indiegogo.com/file_attachments/201140/files/20131115230926-plants.jpg?1384585766

Searched on coffee vaping when I saw that pic and came up w/ very little, apparently there are caffeinated e-juices (personally I don't get that whole monster industry of vaping things that aren't weed, just clogs up our web searches :)) w/ good flavor and minor results.

The key component is lawful manufacture, you can sell what you can lawfully manufacture (that's why you can buy hemp products in all 50 states). Whether what you do with your lawfully manufactured and therefore lawful acquired product is up to i.e. if you lawfully purchase cannabis in Colorado and illegally transport it to Nebraska, you broke the law not the person who sold it to, the same theory applies if you import paraphernalia into your state whether you bought it legally in person in Colorado or if you bought it online which for Colorado taxation purposes "occurred" in Colorado (we have a trashy Internet sales tax which absolutely no one observes but for purposes of establishing where the purchase "legally" occurred, a Colorado cannabis paraphernalia manufacturer is covered as all of their activity (manufacture, sale and distribution) are not only legal but constitutionally protected. Vicente Sederberg (the Denver Law firm that drafted Amendment 64) really thought that part through ;)

All I know is the grasshopper better be all it claims to be and more for us being so patient and understanding to the hopper team.

It would be nice to get updates on the forum from somebody at hopper labs instead of 3rd party email responses from everybody trying to get us the most recent reason why we are still waiting.

Just my:2c:

Will the colored versions look good in some months/years? I know very little about the colorization process, so I was wondering if the original ti would look better in some years than a colored one that can peel etc.

It won't peel, but over time the color will probably rub off in places you usually touch it.
