My nano seems to run cooler now after a couple weeks use. 6.5 used to brown the herbs a bit towards the end of the bowl. Now, even higher temps (7-7.5) don't brown the herb lightly like when it was new. This is with a full heat up of over 15 minutes on 6.5. It just doesn't hit the same way. Its either too cool or too hot now.

What gives?

I usually ran the vape for 10 hrs a day then off at night.

Have you measured your basket depth recently? Check with the E-Pik to confirm your basket is sitting around 15mm deep.

Did you clean your screen? I noticed the same thing last week too. a quick dip in iso and scraping with a toothpick cleaned it right up and now everything is back to normal.

The most difficult part was getting the screen back in without it pivoting. I ended up using two bic pens to get it in place. Also, be careful, I pricked my fingers a lot with the screen's edges.

Also, pro tip, the butt of most pens make for the perfect packing tool. I no longer have chopsticks floating all over my table.

Ditto & Ditto. Check your height, clean your screen, make sure your cord is in tight.

Drier material vapes easier. If you recently got some new and it is not fully cured this will require heat adjustments. Humidity is also on the rise this time of year in much of the US, so if you don't keep everything totally airtight there can be a big difference between the dry air from having the heat on (just a month ago here) and higher humidity (a good bit here in past week). Either way, moister material needs more heat.

Did you recently turn your air conditioning on? If so, do you like it pretty cool or is there a vent near your vaping area? Cold air blowing on the nano, your glass or your stash will require higher dial setting, too. On my nano, sitting under a ceiling fan with ac on usually requires a 1/4 - 1/2 notch bump up.

Not saying you don't have an issue with heater, but don't think we've ever seen one go slowly. Usually they die all together if it is heating element itself. Cord issues can be intermittent and I would suppose gradual if something going bad or dirty in the dial.

My heating element is more than 2 years in and still heats pretty much the same as day 1 (allowing for differences of new cord/dial about 1/2 way through). Screen cleanliness and depth; moisture of material; and ambient room temp are what create the need to adjust for me to get the same performance. Pretty much the same with most vapes, even if they need something other than screen adjustment for that part.

This is a reply to everyone that replied on this matter.

Basket height is standard, with a clean screen. No air conditioning yet. Material never seems to brown even after its dried out when at 6.5.

When at 7.5 for a long time it will brown a gong bowl pretty easy, but not right away if I turn it up from 6.5.

It seems like it has less extraction power at lower temps now (with a few different batches of herb) which is weird since it was recently working so well.

I agree with this......ive had my nano for 4 months and ive just recently discovered a new draw technique.....i think im getting more of a full lung pull now....im getting better flavor and effects.....i cant explain it :hmm:

I also had my screen fall out of the bottom of my gong yesterday :bang:
Twice :bang: :bang:

What works better for you, a lighter draw like youd hit a mflb ( if you have), or a harder draw like if you were smoking a cigarette or blunt? For me i try to do a long, pretty hard draw because the Nano is able to produce some great clouds where as i think many vapes arent suited to be hit nearly as hard.

The nano really is a powerhouse for personal consumption or two people. Cant speak for more than that since i dont use the nano for passing around.

Im using a pretty hard draw......
My old technique was similar to the way i hit my solo.....kind of off to the side of my mouth......long slow draw with some outside air mixed in....

But now i make sure the stem is perfectly in front of me....no outside air mixed in......still a long draw but i can feel my lungs fill up and on my second draw i usually cough and spit and my eyes tear up.......huuuuge clouds

Ive only shared the Chech with 2 other people on one occassion, but im not the most social person around :uhoh:

Yeah man I feel like with a pinch of weed you can get almost everything you want in those first 2 hits when you're at a solid 7 on the dial and end up with AVB that would be great for olive oil or tinctures, vs. Keep hitting it for all its worth and chuck your coffee grinds cuz they done zo! Both methods are equally valid of course.
I just remembered the only problem with the first option is you better not spill that AVB.

Pretty much out of suggested possible reasons here. Though could be the cord or even heating element. If everything is the same and you're still running into issues, might be time to check with Andy. Hard to say. I figured it was a failing vape in all circumstances I describe above, but turned out not to be the case for me. One thing to keep in mind, though.... It takes a few minutes to actually get the heat up to 7.5 from 6.5. Shouldn't take too long, but it isn't instant.

I hit it both ways and a good many in between. Depends on my mood, my strain of the evening, what else I might have to do and usually a few other things. nano is one damned versatile vape!

IME nano holds up quite well with up to 5 people. Issue here is the small load capacity. Even if you push the screen down and load more, you still have to stir every couple hits.. But, it will keep up the heat with whatever - or however many people - you throw at it.

.

My original Nano went slowly. First it seemed to get cooler over the course of a few days. Had to keep going further up the dial to get the same results (with no other changes, same vaping material, same outlets, etc). Went from using it at 6.5 to almost 8.

Then eventually the light lit up, but the element was dead.

Really sounds like you might have a problem with the vape. Set it to 7.0 and let it sit for 1 hour. Then give it a shot. See if letting it preheat for a full hour+ helps. If you've left it on for extended periods of time and you still can't get the vape to work, it sounds like maybe your heating element or wiring is going bad.

I personally would send it in for warranty work if all else fails. You do have a lifetime warranty with it, so why not!

My mistake. Maybe it was the heating element itself. Have assumed these types of issues were with getting power to it - mostly based on how mine went. Temps started getting flaky, then had to jiggle the cord/dial to get even the light to come on. Doesn't take nearly the electricity to light the small LED as to heat. But, think there have been a couple of instances way back there where heat just stopped although light continued to function normally. So, wonder if a new cord would fix problems with heat dropping instead of sending whole unit in. Not positive, but pretty sure my unit came back from repair with same heating element and a new cord. Was the heater what crapped out on yours?

An Fcer @whatupwhatup had a problem with his unit and he had a multimeter and it determined his cord was bad. He was able to fix his cord and now the unit works fine. You can try that if you are able to fix things. You can send your unit along with the cord back, you would be without it for at least 2 weeks.

I don't think it was the cord. I sent in both the unit and the cord, and a few weeks later a different unit was sent to me. Brand new.

Edit: testing on 7 seemed to hit well after a 17 minute warm up. Trying lower settings now. Temps just need to stabilize. I'm not sure if my heater had a hot spot and now evened out, or what.

Edit 2: after an hour on 6.75 it hit hard but not much browning in the dry stem. I think the heater and power controller are fine. It must have been the weather and set too low that particular day. I'm well toasted so there is no doubt it works.

The weird part is that when set to 7.5 or so and left to warm up, it hits hard with the gong adaptor, with some browning. Its just down around 6 it doesn't feel as warm as it did before while holding the nano.

I seem to have a good connection from the cord, and I can test the output of the cord with my tech specialist dad today.

Another thing to note is when it was new, 6.5 fully warmed up would brown half the load (semi circle pattern) then I had to rotate the wand between stirring to even it out. Now on 6.5 the herbs stay unbrowned but stop giving vapor after a few hits.

I will do some more heat testing today. It still works and I get lifted, it just seems different.

Thanks for the input everyone.

@ ratchet I know you don't like the FC186 however the NANO will provide milk shake rips!

Just saying!

Lol, hell yeah, I love cranking my nano up for some milky action!

Here's my current favorite high-diffusion setup for taking massing rips:

Had been t-breaking since early Febuary while looking for jobs. Finally got one and broke my t-break with the nano last night.

first bowl i coughed out most of the hit so i decided to load up a second. 5 min after the second the first one hit and I skyrocketed to being too high to speak for about 25 min while watching game of thrones. Today I took just 1 small rip with my J-hook and 18mm bowl and was at a great level all night.

Cant believe that I used to pound down 10+ bowls a day before my t-break. needless to say, the nano still does not disappoint.

It's good to be back, baby
