Fire it again. I can still find the ground.
I always kind of considered that I both "lung-pumped" and then "lung-inhaled". (For clarity, this is with oyle mixed 1:1 with EJMix out of my Kanger EMOW Mega - I don't vape dry any more)

Vaping reminded me of the two-part process of a small bong, or a wooden tobacco pipe that had a large bowl, so I guess I just transferred that method to vaping.

Like, with both of those (small bong and bowl) you had to "get things cooking and in chamber" for a few secs, then quickly exhale/inhale and iron-lung the crap out of it, as compared to a one-hitter or small corn-cob pipe or something.

:myday: ...and then we all got on the trolley to go buy penny candy at the Woolworth's...!

Peace!

Lungs with the EVO through glass and mouth with the Pax because that's the only way you can effectively hit them, if you want clouds. I came from a blunts-all-day background and would mouth hit and then inhale because it's a bit ridiculous if you try to lung hit a blunt.

The funny thing is when I let my combusting friends hit the EVO. Most cant inhale long enough for a solid hit because of their horrible lung capacity.

One minute! Wow! We use our devices and medicate in ways that are so different... It's night and day. It's really a cultural thing. Where I live the only people using water-tools are a few teens and those who really want to get wasted. Otherwise they all smoke joints slowly, with filters and some tobacco and passing them around.

Well, around your friends of course, rarely with strangers! :p

But you see on the other hand, using a glass pipe or a bong here will immediatly flag you as a "crack-head" or a heavy addict, whereas joints are more acceptable socially speaking.

Coming from a spliffs background and having never liked water tools, I draw first with my mouth, like I did when I smoked cigs, and when enough vapor is accumulated, I stop drawing and inhale a lungful of fresh air, flushing all the vapor deep inside.

I believe it's a cultural thing as north americans use more glass tools than the rest of the world and you have to use your lungs to use them.

At the same time I believe drawing directly into your lungs explains many reports of people finding the vapor too harsh or uncomfortably hot and/or throat irritating and/or lungs irritating because it leaves strictly no time for it to cool down. Whereas when you do it in two steps, your mouth will cool the vapor first and moisturize it, then you draw fresh air to dilute it and it gets even cooler.

Using this technic, even near combustion temps (225°C) don't feel hot or irritating to me, and I use direct draw vapes exclusively.

Maybe you guys should give it a try and reconsider your habits? ;)

I really wish I had read this post before I incinerated my lungs and throat by deep-inhaling prolonged hits from my new Airizer Air, straight to my lungs, and without that VITAL pause needed to cool and moisturize the vapor.

That method of direct inhalation from a dry Airizer air, with no bubbler in line, left me with the absolute worst sore throat I have EVER experienced in my entire life, followed by acute sinus congestion that continues right up till now, nearly two weeks after I made that critical vaping error.

With the benefit of hindsight, I am now having a machine shop fabricate a custom bubbler made from a stainless steel cylinder of diameter 3 inch, and height 7 inch, sealed at one end and covered with a thread-on lid from which will protrude two stainless steel tubes, one bent off at an angle as a mouthpiece, and the other threaded to perfectly fit the threads on the short Airizer glass stem that is shipped with the attached plastic mouthpiece. Even with this stainless steel marvel that will bubble my Airizer vapor through a four-inch depth of water and ice, my approach from here on out will remain small sips followed by inhalation, in the same way as is done smoking a joint.

KeroSen is da MAN ! Thanks for the above observation that assures me my lungs and tonsils are not flawed in some way.

Crafty and Mighty both I draw the same way. 12-15 seconds direct to lungs with a big inhale at the end to push it down.

I was exclusively a joint smoker so used to the mouth pump method.

However when I got the AA I drew directly into my lungs.

When I pack a AA stem full (.15ish) it can take me 15 mins before there is no visible vapour, and that's with doing many 30 second+ draws.

I'm thinking it must take the mouth pump guys much much longer to clear a vape? Considering the volume of vapour you can fit in one mouth pump vs a 30 second lung draw.

Right, it takes time, especially with conduction portable vapes and weak heaters. But 0.15g is already a double dose for me. I tend to consume 0.06g in 15-20 minutes doing multiple temperature levels.

I'm not sure how you would even DO a mouth pump in any effective way with glass. I can do it with my FM5, I could do it with a Lotus stem, but I can't even figure a way to do it and get a decent hit with glass, with or without a whip. Maybe I'm misunderstanding...

I think it's all a matter of preference.. I like to medicate at high temps while blowing huge clouds. I typically load around .15g and finish with a portable like Pax 2 in about 8 minutes and 10 hits. With a desktop like the Herbalizer maybe 7 hits to cash the same size bowl. With the EVO maybe 4 hits and 4 minutes( the EVO is a beast). Although I certainly cough sometimes, I actually don't experience any throat or lung irritation that lasts longer than 5 minutes after a Vape session. I suggest sipping a little water every couple hits, that seems to soothe my throat and keeps irritation to a minimum. I never use water filtration as I've found flavor degradation to be significant. I never mouth pump, I prefer long and slow 10 to 15 second inhales directly into my lungs. For me big hits = stronger and faster high. The fact of the matter is that some people are more sensitive to vapor than others. There is no one answer for everyone....

Right, and we are not all after stronger and faster highs. I medicate all day long, when I'm working and when I'm not. I can't afford to get wrecked, and actually I don't take much pleasure when it happens. It's just not what I'm after (note that I could add "anymore")

But you touch an important point that is often underlooked: people have different intake dynamics. This is really showing in the Zion alpha testing phase where we have testers who enjoy big and fast, usually with glass+water tools, on one end, and there are the slow sippers who enjoy long sessions that last, like me, on the other end.

I think it's mostly linked to the way you used to consume before switching to vaping (and it's a cultural thing as I said many times)

But this difference explains why some vapes are excellent for person A and pretty weak for person B.

Understood.. Useage patterns and expectations are different. I medicate only in the evenings after the kids are in bed and I like a euphoric and relaxing... And yes sometimes mind numbing high. However, that's at night when I'm winding down and have nothing to get done... Maybe listen to some music, do a little light reading or watch a little tv. I agree with you, if I were medicating everyday multiple times I would dose down significantly so as not to be impaired for work or my daily family responsibilities...

My experience is that mouth pumping , then drawing some air, mouth pumping again, drawing some air, etc., provides as big a hit as one continuous lung draw for 10 or 15 secs. At vape temps over 390f mouth pumping keeps the inhaled vapor cooler and without any irritation or feeling of heat.

When it comes to the discussion, the magic flight is VERY interesting. I can take huge lung hits by inhaling thru my nose (this creates a small pathway through your mouth, creating the perfect draw speed)...with no coughing
When it comes to mouth pumping. Oh boy. I pull an average hit into my mouth, suck it down with my lungs, and I cough my brains out like I just took the fattest bong rip (but no throat irritation). And to top it off, it produces less vapor. I'm not sure why this all happens with magic flight vapor, as it doesn't with other vapes.

With my Nano I do direct lung hits, as it's almost impossible to find the drag to do a mouth hit. I never feel any sort of irritation at any temperature, UNLESS, I inhale quickly with a very open throat. The vapor just shoots back and hits the back of the throat. No Bueno. I can keep my throat mostly closed and this doesn't necessarily happen with a fast draw.

If I don't use the nose method wth the mflb, and do regular lung hits without using my nose and just my throat, I feel throat irritation.

Anyone experience any of these sensations??? Been wondering forever.

I'm not quite sure how you do lung draws AND inhale through your nose simultaneously. Can you describe this procedure a bit more? When using my MFLB I just draw directly into my lungs for 8-10 seconds. Longer draws cause irritation. I found that using mouth pumping, or the sipping technique, for even 10 seconds, tends to cause a bit of combustion as evidenced by blackened ABV.

Magic flight posted a tutorial somewhere under advanced section. Been a while, idk where to find it. Literally just put the flight box up to your mouth, open your throat like you are doing a lung hit, but inhale JUST through your nose, but with your throat open so it pulls air through you mouth automatically. Not sure exactly how it works, but mflb mentioned it. I can't hit the box any other way. Mouth pumps are easy and sometimes mico hitting with lungs, but the nose method is my 98% go to.

Probably not what you're talking about but I mentioned nostril hits halfway through.

I smoked joints for years, and this is how hit. Fill the mouth with vapor, then swoosh it down with a rapid lung inhale. Cool, moist.

First the flavor, then the buZzz settles in....
I do a hybrid of both lung and mouth pumping. I have an e nano attached to a water piece and what I have found out that works for me is to take a steady and slow draw, it doesnt have to be long. With the right temp slow and steady creates some great vapor.

So I start slow and steady drawing and when I feel my lungs are filled good enough, then I pause the lung work and I then let my mouth keep drawing. At this point my mouth is drawing more vapor in the glass and into my mouth, while allowing me more time to take my e nano and gong off my water piece, so then I can clear it.

I say this because what used to happen to me is that I would take straight lung Hits until I couldnt anymore and it would make it difficult to clear my piece And if I can pull it off, then I would be coughing all over the place and I wouldnt be getting the vapor to stay put for maximum absorption.

So I tried to edit my last post, but the editing time has lapsed.

What I wanted to say is that I have been sucessful in drawing vapor by mouth, drop the jaw and youved created a vacuum, then lung pulling then mouth drawing again, in steady consecutive cycles, on the D020d and slightly packed, it extracts pretty well, a very meditative state.
