Yeeha dialing in comes with perks! Anyone now running VRIP raw glass on glass and not feeling like they are getting high enough heat can probably squeeze more heat out of the device with a simple board adjustment. Hit us up and Shadow or I can dial you in, but so far most users have simply been able to dial in to glass on glass by slowing it down and milking it to prime and then finishing as rip-usual. The seals are external and not in the path though and as long as you've got'em properly positioned it does improve functional efficiency. All a matter of preference and they're should be plenty of heat there for either technique. Hunk of pure glass thermal mass that falls off slowly at the perfect rate before cycling to recover --- adjust the static temp to preference and flow from there.

Hearing good things about honeycomb diffusion and NOPE mixchu69 no more stainless steel or any other materials in the heating, extraction, or delivery path assuming you're using a functional glass water tool of some sort like honeycomb bubbler Yoosh is riding. Any reasonable sized tube or bubbler will work usually, but I've got to admit I'm leaning high diffusion and honeycomb is on my map.

thanks @lazylathe - how did you position the black one? I got it on twice and it just slipped off the end the first time and the second time it was a little further up. I stopped trying for fear of breaking the glass. You've got to really work to get it on there. You got a pic?

@stickstones

I stretched mine a few times and then had it in hot water for a bit to soften it up a bit. Stretched over really easily and then I adjusted it up a bit and kept checking the position on the bowl to ensure it was straight.

I also positioned it so that when placed in the glass holder the ground portion does not touch the glass.
I feel much safer using it now as it sits so much better in the holder and I do not knock it when placing it in their.

Will upload a pic when I get home.

@stickstones Here is the pic of how far up my silicone sits on the glass

There you go good stuff lazylathe the hot water idea is a great one I'm going to tell Shadow about because that seal can be a bugger! Looks about the perfect position in the pic. Also be aware family that if you want some more angle on the approach you can have it slightly lower on one side than the other. We'll reposition ours after one crew member here uses it because they always angle it while the rest of us tend to come at it straight on.

Oh and I forgot to add a second to lazylathe's observation that the tip seal also gives the glass a little cushion when setting in the stand or on a flat heat proof surface that can ease the mind --- it does in fact have the capability to compensate for a fast put-down type of errt or bonk here and there if on the tip that otherwise could result in a need for a new glass cover.

Word to the purists who like their clouds full and aromatic: we've got two double ended female adapter samples with female 14.4mm on one side and female 18.8mm on the other sitting here in the VRIP R&D lab (read: my office) and not an oil rig in site --- anyone with an oil rig that has a 18.8mm male instead of a female down stem and a VHW/VCB4.2_14.4mm or or an oil rig with a 14.4mm male down stem and a VHW/VCB4.2_18.8mm or planning on buying such a VRIP kit please hit us up on info@vriptech.com or pm on FC.com and we'll send you an adapter for free to test VRIPs on an oil rig type of water tool.

You'd be advancing the Art and Science of Aromatherapy and helping us out with some needed feedback. We've had some past interest in female instead of male adapters by those with oil rigs who are probably sick of tasting solvents in their extractions, but not enough to justify a custom tool for whole runs of female lower bowls just yet so are entertaining the idea of offering these adapters (also made in the US at our master glass grinder's shop) as an alternative for those looking to go air solvent extraction on their oil rigs. Anyone, anyone?

Oh and as lazylathe pointed out please, please clean your water tools before using for VRIPs it's the only way to get the full spectrum love without the pyro notes sneaking in there. Our original SVT "Superior Vaporization Technique" manual that we gave away as downloads for a decade + actually had a chapter titled: "Start Clean and Keep it Clean" if I remember correctly. Once you enjoy the full spectrum "vape signature" without the pyro notes most people never want to "hear" that part of the "symphony" again!

Just had an amazing session with my VRIP Heat Wand!!
Still rocking the silicone tip seal as i find i tend to push and grind the joint, keep forgetting it is not spherical ground.
HINT, HINT!! Spherical ground tips to mate perfectly at a variety of angles with the bowl.
So with the silicone tip i can push a bit, achieve a perfect seal and it annihilates me every time!

Two small bowls of the most amazing tasting Shishkaberry that produces huge clouds!!
The VRIP is my most cloud producing vape i have ever owned!
IMHO and in the way i use it, it out performs my EVO easily!

I can see this vape being my daily driver for a very long time and always in the routine!!
Not yet had a bad session with this vape!

Yeah bro stoked you're feeling (and inhaling) the love we do daily lazylathe! Shiska love is especially flavorful via VRIPs I'm sure!

It's funny I was just PMing about the legacy seal being preferred to the 4.2 tip seal even when used with the 4.2 bowls by some of our customers and then went to check the forum and there was your post mentioning it. The idea with the 4.2 tip seal is to confer to the VHW3.0 some of the ability to seal at an angle that will come glass on glass with the next gen 4.2 cover that has a ground glass spherical head, but that said the legacy tip seal definitely works great and does look more subtle blending with the glass from an aesthetic perspective too. It's too early to say for sure so I'm really just assuming the legacy seals will have to be replaced more often, but you'll have plenty of warning as they'll start to yellow well before cracking.

Dial in to your personal preferences it's your ritual, your session we just provide the tools to elevate the flavor and the results.

That is unbelievable! I'm so looking forward to testing sessions on saturday bro! My only real concern about the VRIP has been how delicate it and the bowls can be. There was a reason I had to stock up on M2M's for the LSV! lol

Can't wait!

I've been surprised with the durability of mine! *knocks vrip on wood*

Already dinked it a few times. :smug: The silicone seems to help!

Edit: Looking forward to trying the VB4.2. Appears to be more efficient than the lsv wpa I'm using now.

We've been impressed with the increase in durability of the new VCB4.2s compared to the legacy VCBs. It makes sense because the glass is tooled less under torch (weakens glass) and ground more instead to get the functionality and tolerances (more expensive labor intensive approach, but less stress on the glass).

I bounced the bowl off my drafting table yesterday afternoon with a butter fingered quick pick-up by the intake instead of the bowl (rare for me), cringed, then smiled as there wasn't even a chip. We've had more than one long-time customer give us the feedback that the new bowls where surviving typical errts and bonks better than the legacy bowls so although we still don't recommend bouncing bowls off the work and session space surfaces, we're stoked that the 4.2s seem to be holding up considerably better.

We've been getting a bunch of email requests for an update on the VRIPdab ProtoNail so I'll post something here: Ver. 3.1 should be ready for testing next Tues. This one will allow us to go straight glass nail bowl for lower temp slower melts (uber medical efficiency), glass frit insert for more surface area and faster melts (thicker vapor), or for all you accustomed to torch dabs and needing it to be faster and even thicker an inert silicon nitride foam insert (health stone style) that will heat up faster and to higher temps. We won't leave this alone until we've got it dialed with a modular solution for everyone! We know it works, but we're still doing a lot of testing. Damn I love my job!

If we don't get lots of pics there will be hell to pay!

@lazylathe was sober enough in the beginning to remember to snap ONE! Myself on the otherhand, OMG @lazylathe tried to KILL me! Although the VHW completely STOLE the show, he brought over so many toys and I was chain hitting them and getting every angle of vape signature possible...

On to the Vrip.....well, as @lazylathe can attest to....I have massive 7.5L+ swimmers lungs, and the VHW has been the first and only vaporizer to defeat me! I thought i'd be able to handle ripping the entire bowl, like i've been able to do with many other vapes, but not the VRIP....the dense vapour filled my lungs to capacity, and to this day after nearly a decade of vaping exclusively through dozens of toys, the VripTech Heat Wand is by far the best testing flavour city vape i've ever had the pleasure of enjoying!

My previous ownership and experience with the VHW years ago wasn't a fair judgement....the bowl system has completely changed as has the screen (glass) and is soooo many less cumbersome to use than before. It was so weird even getting over the flavour...I couldn't stop smacking my chops! For the first time (ever?) I couldn't get the awesome taste of the strain out of my mouth! And previously lifeless tasting strains came back to life with the VripTech!

I think I may need to own one of these, although I still have concerns regarding my medicated (and alot of times non-medicated) clumsiness! I think i'd also use a small stainless screen just to prevent particles from entering the water tool as the holes are on the bigger side in the glass screen. I like the VRIPTECH much more than my previous LSV! And I loved my LSV! The VHW is much more forgiving and has a much better taste and the heater/glass thermal mass makes all the difference in the world!

Thanks and props to @lazylathe once again for the candy store sessions!!! The VRIP is the most underrated vape on FC I think! I remember the VXL vs VHW wars....well not wars, but those were the top two flavour dogs. Having owned every iteration of the Cloud including the EVO, I can safely say that I MUCH prefer the Vrip. Not to mention how awesome the Vrip family is and their presence on here! Thanks for delivering!

Light - Mass - Glass = Better Flavor and Better Flavor = Better Results. The physics is critical of course and we're proud of doing it differently, but the flavor benefits are mostly about the surface polarity of the materials IMHO this is an Electro-Chemical Process, seems so elemental right? Terpenes are polar molecules! Polarizing heat sources (read: virtually every vaporizer out there even ones that "work" well) will never extract full spectrum, full flavor vapor it's physically/chemically impossible. Some people will call that some Ninja Hippy vibrational BS and to them all I can offer is a VRIP...let's melt flowers side by side with any devices of choice and compare notes on the vape signatures....the results are the same every time with very few exceptions coming even close spectrum-wise.

Thanks for the session recap biohacker sounds like you and lazylathe had a really good time! Vrip matched up with a nice tube or bubbler definitely tends to work better, or at least is more fulfilling, for those with larger lungs and preferring larger pulls. Over the years we've had a strong following in the action and traditional sports amateur and professional alike because these guys like to take RIPS and can't afford tore up lungs or throats. I remember the first time I saw a NBA player's name on an order....I got more excited than seeing orders from two of the most well known MDs into alternative medicine!

And agreed on all fronts we're super stoked on the new chamber bowls they have definitely simplified and standardized our water pipe ritual in a way we simply couldn't get to with the torch tooled legacy bowls. And if you're using water tools that are a pain to clean and just hate to get any carcass particulate coming through the glass screens instead of giving up the thermal mass and polarity benefits of them I'd consider using the hemp filter approach that Nebu posted a couple pages back --- works great, no flavor and super easy and cheap to implement. Your concern just reminded me to revisit this I've been saying we will start stocking it; I'm messaging Nebu now to get reminded of the best source he found. Course glass frits will also work and convey the same benefits without any particulate getting through, but we haven't found a good American source to work with at the present. That said, imported ones can be bought online and resized to fit in the VRIP bowls as a glass filter alternative.

Fragility will always be an issue with the VHW it's just part of the trade off if you want a glass heat tool like this I think although we are revisiting the idea of a protective shroud as we had on the Version 1.0 as part of our ongoing development effort. If we do it again it will be done better than the first try I promise!

We've had a few "clumsy" customers rig up spooling cords from Home Depot to the ceilings above their session space and go from bonking regularly to no bonks by suspending the wand ala powered surgical tool style. Not an option for everyone, but a pretty serious and nice set-up for some.

The Jedi VripMasters with Flavor Sabers glowing must Unite for the Full Spectrum Wellness of the Universe....May the Force of Flavor and Fulfilling Inhalations give you all Strength!

I also love this little "Atomic Perk" paired with the VHW
1.0x0.jpg

Excellent diffusion/throughput (max conditioning, no chug, no restriction), smaller volume (rapid delivery) and the dry chamber at the air-entry bottom catches any grinds pass-thru. I still use the hemp fiber to keep even this bit clean but, when I do without, any particulate matter just collects in the dry bottom chamber, never gumming up the diffusion works, never getting wet. This piece is also the perfect ergonomic form factor for the VHW. When vaping the VHW is comfortably situated/directed/held and the bowl is at the perfect vantage point for watching the load, which brings me to another factor in which the Vriptech VHW excels: YOU CAN SEE THE LOAD AS YOU VAPE.

I didn't realize how much I took this aspect for granted until I vaped with the EVO & Herbie. Understand, I am so very often melting something (e.g. shatter, oil, ice-wax, propolis) on top of (& into) a packed bowl of flower. Instead of this being a mysterious (& messy) process taking place out of sight in the confines of an "ELB" or "magnetic bowl" I am witness to the bubbling, melting and flower saturating goodness and can tune my intake accordingly. Also, my VCB (Vrip Chamber Bowls) are never a mess as I can place a dab smack in the middle and airflow is down. The dabs just melt down and into the flower and come out clean with the load carcass/ABV.

Other vapes may have more bells and whistles, safety features, etc., but, when it comes to pure function, the Vriptech VHW is simply state-of-the-art. If you like auto analogies, it's like the air-cooled Porsche 911 of vapes. Pure performance, be careful. ;)

And why do they suggest bigger bongs to mini bubblers?

@Nebu

That is also my favorite WT to use with my VRIP!!
Water always stays clean, any bud stays dry in lower empty chamber and the list goes on!!
Also the very slight diffusion and zero chug make this WT very easy to master!!

Also love watching the bud pack down and vaporize during the hit!! It makes a session so much easier being able to see what your bud is doing and also how well the bud is being vaporized.

Yeah family was melting some metal dog shatter into a bowl of purple metal dog flowers last night for some serious flavor density and tried to have my wife take some pics with my iphone --- they don't do it justice, but with the right camera and lighting maybe it could be done. Reminds me of the old days and Bubble Man memorializing the bubbles he'd get to form in his bowls of bubble on overgrow.com.

So cool to be able to actually watch the concentrate boil into a rapid bubble and soak into the flower filter right in front of your eyes as the vapor quickly goes from flavor wisp to thick skim milk blue!!! I think this ability to see the action is really helpful for those dialing in to lux vapor and for sure is a welcome change for the old pros used to just going at it with trust and a known setting. It's just so damn cool to see the melt in action and really cements the idea that this is a "process" and not an "event"! A crucial understanding required to get to the upper reaches of vapor quality IMHO. Man I love R&D and waxing vapor poetic.

Off to the shop to grab the new protonail inserts...fingers and toes crossed we've got it nailed or at least are closer. Testing materials ready to go and lungs getting prepped I'll report back soon.

So i have been a bit quiet on here for a few days...
The Viton o-ring spilt and i relied on it to provide an idiot proof airtight seal.
It happened during an epic session with @biohacker and i must admit that it was on high and in the glass stand for a while, it was doing some serious testing that day!
It snapped with a very loud "POP" that startled us...LOL!!!! Deep into the session already...

So the VRIP has just been sitting idle for a while.
I try it every now and then but cannot keep the perfect glass on glass seal.

Today i decided to clean and pack up the vape room, moving house in a week!!
I found a length of medical grade silicone tubing, totally odourless and the right diameter!
I cut a small ring off the tubing and installed it on the tip of the VRIP heat wand.
The tip fits perfectly in the VRIP bowl and has a very nice cushioning feel to it!
Turned the wand to MAX and let it sit in the glass stand for 30 minutes.
No smell, color change or softening of the silicone was visible, so testing was approved!

Load up a bowl of fresh ground Pineapple Express and VRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIP away!!
Delicious flavour, awesome after taste, huge clouds!!!
I think i am going to use this and see how it lasts and performs over time.
The Viton one is awesome but i like the softer feel of the silicone.

More testing to be done!

My black one snapped as well. I like the clear tubing better. If you smell something, it might be residue from the black one that you can't see. That's what happened with mine.

Thats odd for Viton to be melted onto the glass, no matter how small an amount.

EDIT: Decided to research before posting what i thought was correct...
http://www.marcorubber.com/materialguide.htm
Viton good to 400F, so that is the cause of the breakdown.
I am sure the tip gets hotter than that when sitting in the glass stand at max temp.

Silicone is good to 450F, so a much better choice imo!
It's a clear winner!!! LOL!

Loving my VRIP again!!

Happy Saturday everyone was just melting some floral day saver and thinking about checking in glad I did I see everyone is on the same page on the 4.2 patch seal! The medical silicon "Tygon" tubing we cut the legacy seals from works fine and does have a little higher melt point so will always be a good way to go if want an easier seal than glass on glass. We've also had it voted as most aesthetically appropriate which I'd have to agree. The idea was the additional angle of seal the 4.2 viton seal would convey was worth the effort and it does work for a little more angle. The not so funny part after buying however many hundreds of these things as we had to since it was a special order is that the sample is still working fine as the longest running one in use --- no visible signs of discoloration; only micro cracks if you go mag on it. It hasn't popped and is fully functional after months of use. Obviously a slightly different compound than what we where shipped as production.

There are many different flouropolymer resin variants all under the Viton brand and this one was supposed to be a slightly higher temp compound viton (puts it close to the silicon) which is a benefit we paid more for from an American manufacturer as a special run so I'll be asking them about the compound and doing a little more testing here with the IR thermo. We're definitely at the high end of what both of the these materials are rated for regardless especially if sitting for extended periods on high heat settings without use in the stand or inverted --- take more vapes damn it and it won't get so hot! Let's melt flowers not tip seals. Even if you super cook the silicon tip seals in the stand or a mug on high heat for extended periods of time they'll just discolor and crack well before being useless giving you possibly months of indication before it's dead which is preferred to one that just pops and poof it's non-functional. Another check for clear.

We're going to cease from including them with wands and send some samples back to the manufacturer to find out WTF and hopefully have an option in a better compound that squeezes another +20-30 degrees out of the material which was the idea. Unless you want to go glass on glass the clear is clearly the way to go for now and not just because it doesn't pop the softer feel is preferred by most I'm sure. I know I like it better now that lazylathe got me thinking about it. Thanks for the feedback family and sorry for the popped seals! Hit up Shadow for replacement with clear legacy seals if you need them and if anyone really, really preferred the function of the 4.2 seals stay posted we'll follow up and find out if there is a higher temp option that makes sense (the option is always there just a matter of how much and how long).

Ya that was such a bummer when the seal popped. There were many new vapes on the table, and as I mentioned before the VHW stole the show, and sadly I couldn't test it some more. It's all i've been thinking about lately! So i'm thinking it's time to start saving for the 007 kit! I love my Mighty, but I still need something to fill the void for a reliable flavour city plug in!

So shadow these new clear seals will work as well as the black but not pop?
