Take as you please (mainly posting to see debate about it meaning something vs nothing) but reddit from yesterday:
"While I havent received and email, the guy in charge of my group by (5 of us went in when we were living in the same city) has been in rather consistent contact with trevor. Needless to say, hes taking our updated shipping info and giving more solid answers. While this whole process has been slow (i even had to quit smoking due to my job haha) i think we are finally nearing the end"
depending on what "solid answers" are and whether or not the updated shipping info was solicited or not this could mean good things... or nothing lol

I would like to know if they mean to say, they emailed Trevor the new shipping info, or they received an email, unprovoked by them, requesting shipping information....

EdE80,

I believe I speak for most of the FC members in this thread, in that we would enjoy more demo videos of the Grasshopper in action.

Yes I'm well aware that I just mentioned this not 5 posts prior, however, I would like to clarify and elaborate on this idea, and perhaps provide some creative input for the one test I think we would all enjoy viewing.

It would involve a volcano bag, or some other, CLEAR - See Through, bag held over the grasshopper's mouth piece, letting the vape reach max temp (shouldn't take too long at all haha!)

Now prior to turning the unit on, or even attaching the bag be sure that it is completely purged of air and totally flat! (obviously lol)

Once it's ready, slowly begin retraction so as to effectively draw the vapors into said bag, (preferably on max heat, caching the contents of the chamber in one massive hit is the idea)

Try to see how many of these "bags" it is possible to fill, if at all more that one.

IMO this would be comparing this to the likes of some portables and would boost our collective confidence until we are fortunate to receive our very own units.

I personally believe this would be very satisfying, both visually, and to confirm that if one really wanted to, they could do the same and have a bag vape from a portable and sleek pen that enticed us to sponsor the IG/ Preorder in the first place.

This sort of demonstration would provide a definite idea of what kind of vapor production this psuedo-pen is truly capable of.

Sure, we've all seen the videos and possess some idea that it is epic and all that, (how could something armed with a 30-45w dynamically controlled heater not be?)

Lastly, this would serve to provide a more direct visualization, and towards extending our patience for a little bit longer. ;)

Peace

P.S. To clarify, this is the process I am describing, but with a larger bag to account for more vaporz

Hey DriftYo,
There is nothing more I would rather do than test the Grasshopper and post more stuff but unfortunately for me, I had to send back the loaner Grasshopper last week. I will have another one shortly but for now, no more new tests. I do, however have more information and photos of the Grasshopper that I will be adding to my "Grasshopper Preview" post that will hopefully help ease the waiting pain. I can try to answer questions or if there is specific items you are looking for, like your bag idea, just let me know and I'll try to help. Sorry I can't do you bag idea but I will try it as soon as I get a Grasshopper back! People of FC will be the first to know

This video was originally uploaded on 12/20/2014

This heater is the final version which will be used in production units (assuming Trevor is not lying and the heater has not changed in the past 9 months). I would expect similar results from the finished product based on this video and previous videos by @BuzzDanklin

What I find most promising is the feedback from @BuzzDanklin regarding it's performance over time. It seems he still likes the vape for his stealth needs (replacing the MFLB if I recall). And it has needed very little maintenance in the time he's had it. I'll be excited to see how well the vape holds up after 6 months of use

The bag idea seems terrible to me when you can make a Vapor Lung... The GH would be perfect to use with a vapor lung at home. No harsh vapor, huge clouds....

Yes that video has been around for quite some time, like you mentioned, although this is not quite what I meant; it does not accurately depict vapor volume as there is too much flow in the system by the vacuum pump, which they should have set a tad lower in that vid, IMO, I guess they were just wanting to do the AVB tests without wasting too much time.

I was referring, more-so towards a manually operated Vapor Lung, which can be used anywhere.

Thank you @natural farmer ! I was searching for the phrase but could not recall what it was exactly, the Vapor Lung was precisely what I was trying to describe! Much like the diaphragm which pulls your lungs down to inflate, this serves the same function but now your hand is the 'diaphragm' muscle, and the bag is the lung.

eh I don't really see the point in such a video, but probably because I would never use it in such a way. If there were more videos Id want to see ones being used in a way I would actually be using the vape. Buzz's vid with his buddy is by far my favorite video bc it is a totally normal scenario of just hanging out vaping away imo

That video showed me the heater can keep up with a maintained high draw speed. To me that's pretty damn impressive. Every other portable electric vaporizer I currently own decreases in vapor density when you pull hard like that.

This could be very useful in converting some of my combustion friends who think you need to hit a vape like a freight train (I always tell them, "Take a SLOW hit", and demonstrate. Next thing I know, I'm hearing my vape whistle because they're hitting it too hard).

I don't see any decrease in vapor density until the herb is spent, which indicates to me that the heater is more than capable of keeping up with the demands of the user.

@BuzzDanklin have you ever managed to "overcome" the grasshoopper's heater. Meaning you pull so hard the oven goes cold and the vapor production decreases (or stops all together).

Last week in May, still no new reports of a GH "in the wild" :(

You are right, the GH is a great vape for people who are used to combustion, it functions similar since it heats up nearly instantly, you can draw very fast/hard, and the vapor is very potent so you only need 1 or 2 hits usually to get fairly medicated, whereas a lot of vapes can takes dozens of draws which really throws off people used to combustion

I can overpower the heater, but I have to actively try. Even on my fastest normal draws it has never overpower the heater though. But when I purposly set out with the goal overpowering the heater it can be done :)

Buzz - since you've had it a while, how's it been with maintenance?

Fairly minimal, and quite easy. A couple times I have cleaned out the chamber/bowl with an Iso Q-tip, but the maintenance is mainly just the front end/screen, so I just take that off and drop it in iso, or use a q-tip to rub the inside. Unfortunately the screen is one of the few things that are being changed in the final version, so my cleaning may or may not be a good representation of the production screen. (The new screen looks like it should be easier/quicker to clean to me though)

What we need to satiate the masses is a 24/7 Buzz Grasshopper cam like those websites where you can see what's going on in the bird's nest.

Seriously, more people need to get these so we're not micro-focused on the ONE dude we know.

Yep, and on that site people can command that Buzz test the GH in specific ways and usages!

I feel like I am being recruited to be a camgirl ;)

@blazed7's Thats a tough request haha. I should be able to find a time when I have nothing going on for a while at some point (even with my roommates help a full battery of temp5 bowls will put me to sleep for the afternoon haha) That will be A LOT of herb in a very short time, so I can't really do it on a day when I have stuff going on :)

Lastly I did a quick test today, I loaded the GH chamber up, and then I set it to max temp. I turned the unit on, and let it run until auto-shutoff, then I immediately turned it back on again, and waited until shutoff again, then I emptied the bowl to see if/howmuch the herb was heated. As you can see, the herb that was literally sitting on top of the heater, started to heat/change color/vape, but the rest of the chamber looks untouched, I am pretty happy with that for two full heat cycles at max temp, especially since I can't think of a single situation you would ever let it sit more than a full heat cycle without drawing.
