I love using concentrate pads (stainless steel) and convection - the best flavor all the way to the end. I think the problem with these pads will be their diameter vs. that of the Grasshopper. So some manipulation might be necessary. But it will definitely work if it can fit in the Hopper.

On that note, I emailed Trevor about this last week. He said they are exploring various options, of which one is a drop in pad of some sort that fits the Hopper.

These are called the Liquid Pads - basically a mesh, acting as a wick/substrate to accomodate the full-melt quality of nonherbal compounds.


Does anyone wth a GrassHopper, I'm looking at you @BuzzDanklin, and anyone else to be so lucky as having the good fortune of beta testing, have experience using concentrates with this most coveted pen?

How have you gone about doing so? Merely using cotton as the substrate or going as far as devising your own solutions to solve this challenge?


Now for the most poignant question, will the S&B liqui-pads work directly with the grasshoppers heating chamber, and is it possible to modify them so that they do fit?


These are all things I'm sure we would all like the answers to, and hope that Buzz, and other initial GHV owners see this post and reply to these queries.

Yes, I have experimented with concentrates when I had the pre-production Grasshopper. I made my own screen "cups" that fit at the very end of the heating chamber nearest the mouthpiece, and I was successful at vaping "traditional" solvent-less concentrates. I did not even have to turn the temp all the way up and I was getting great vapor! It kind of got a little messy but I think it has great potential for concentrates, its just a matter of containing them because the Grasshopper puts out enough heat in my brief experience. These screen cups were just an experiment but it worked for me and I bet if you added some of those Crafty/Mighty mesh pads to the screen cup, then you could definitely vape wax etc...

Cotton can auto-ignite at 491F, well above the max temp of the GH.

Rayon(pure cellulose), which is my preference, can auto-ignite at 788F.

Yeah I've burned many cotton wads. I'll buy some rayon please join my conversation in the Ask FC section, I'd like to know more about your usage with Rayon. Will definitely be buying some to try.

I like the idea that was mentioned a while back in this thread, sort of like a "bullet" of weed for the grasshopper, packaged in something like a teabag kind of material, possibly made out of hemp. it'd be so great for easy loading on the go. Could something like that be easily made?

I don't see why it would change a thing, roll a joint and cut it in pieces that are the length of the GH herb chamber and stick 'em in. should be about the same as packing the chamber with ground bud. I've done this with a few portables and they worked just fine. ... (DV,no2, tvape,pinnacle)

I'm at a pool party with my girlfriend and ten kids, all I can say is the gh would be pefect for this and way better than my dr dabber for quick discreet hits. I can not freaking wait for this thing but at the same time I am a preorder and not a backer so I know anything before July is a major stretch but damn I can't wait. I'll order multiple more when they start shipping, I know I'm not the only person that'll order more when they start shipping.

The bronze is beautiful, I think I want one just to look at and not even use. Seriously though, I really can't wait for the gh to drop, game changer for real if it lives up to the claims.

im so tempted to upgrade mine to titanium. i bought a used original pax over the weekend, to hold me over til my grasshopper ships. its doing the job for now, but ive noticed that the mouthpiece gets pretty warm when turn it up to high during long sessions. makes me want to play it safe with the grasshopper and go titanium.

For real tho, why not entertain the people a bit, Buzz?

You hold a certain position of power, actualize it to at least some of its potential - do some experimental videos, maybe something like the initial review with your roommate?

Just post some creative vids plox, we're all dying for something to hold us over; to allow us to withstand the prolonged wait.
