Yo' folks,
My new walnut LB with the glyph batts. is so fast that I barely wait 2 seconds before inhaling quality vapor that my pull speed is almost no match for the heat build up.
Even my main man ,who is an old proto pipe combuster and never really liked my old original box , said that this new box is the ONE . He got satisfying consistent hits and his technique is not that good.
The heat is so fast that my batts. are lasting longer.

Why did you clean the lid with toothpaste? Normally I just use ISO on it and it looks great.

FYI, you should be careful when using toothpaste. You want the simplest toothpaste you can find - nothing that has flouride or tartar control crap because they will leave a coating. Only reason I know is because when you are a scuba diver you treat your diving mask with toothpaste to prevent fogging.

Some use 'baking soda' for this. Mix up a bit of paste with water. This is the stuff that does the scrubbing in traditional tooth pastes......back before the fancy stuff got added. Some still use it alone.

It, of course, will rinse clean. Otherwise I agree fully, I don't think my box needs a whiter smile.......although those who think it could use better smelling breath might have a good argument?

Hey whatsup, my Magic Flight Family! I've been a MFLB user for almost 3 years now, PA 2.0 and my own custom, no whip, direct attachment bubbler elbow adapter. I recently ended up selling my Power Adapter to get the E-Nano, because they follow the same core principles as Magic Flight, and I wanted to support that as well as Andy's incredible powerful convection vape. Well...I'm addicted to convection now, and I want a new portable (preferably convection). I love my flight box so much, but it just doesn't always put me at the top of that mountain, especially after using my nano. Was considering getting another portable, and was looking at getting the Arizer Air. The temp control is a huge seller for me, and it has a quick heatup time.. Was wondering if there were any experienced LB users here who can compare the potency of some popular portables. Thanks a ton, everyone.

Air is more conduction than convection. But it is great at what it does.

Anyone know where I can get a replacement "plug" for the power adapter? The adapter itself is fine, it is the plug itself. It wore down when I would wrap it up for storage. The answer is likely in this thread but I am a newb to the thread

Thanks for the tips, everyone. Here's how I got my dirty year-old box with the heavily-used original batteries working again at a satisfactory temperature:

Did a "burn off" of the empty trench. (Thanks, KidFated!)
Dipped the brush in 91% iso alcohol and gently brushed all the particles and resin from the screen. (It was caked on thickest at the ends, where the seams in the screen are.)
Let it air dry to evap any excess iso.
Another burn off cycle with an empty trench.
Cleaned the lid with toothpaste (unrelated to the temperature issue but helps the box look brand new).

I just tested it and was able to bring a trench to the point of combustion, so I'd say it's as hot as it needs to be!

i would not use toothpaste.
iso 91% all the way, but don't use on the wood obviously.

Probably, but can you tie it down a bit? There's no plug on the PA unless you count the adapter to fit the box? There's a socket on the end of the cable the 'wall wart' pugs into, is that the one you mean?

Pretty sure it is the wall wort you speak of, the main piece with the battery is fine. Been a while, finally thinking of replacing it. Thanks for any help

OK, if it's the connector on the end of the cable from the (12 Volt) wall wart that's failed you can cut the connector off (they almost always fail in the first half inch of wire) and put one of these guys on with a screwdriver:

You don't need 20 of course but at under four bucks..... They are also very common in the 'security camera industry', those guys use them by the big box. For years I used to survive on asking for a few when I ran across them. These days they're super easy to find, thanks no doubt to the Chinese.

I've owned a walnut LB for about 2 yrs. 15 months ago I bought the Firefly ( convection vape but not quite as portable as the LB). I love it more. Flavor and coolness of the vapor cannot be beat, according to many on the FF thread who own multiple vapes. Recently I'm considering purchasing the new Pax 2 , darn VAS.

How long does a fully charged mflb battery hold its charge if not used?
Depends on the battery. Even assuming you mean the ones Magic Flight sells and ships with the Boxes. They've used a few diofferent brands over the years, and some hold their charge longer than others.

Most any NiMH cell should hold a useful charge for a few days, up to perhaps a week. LSD (Low Self-Discharge) varieties can go for months and still have 90% of a charge.

Hopefully someone else will chime in with more specific info on the various cells that Magic-Flight has shipped over the years (and how to tell which "flavor" you have).

If there is anyone out there in need of a new MFLB kit, this dropped last night on Massdrop. I'm going to finally replace my lost Maple MFLB with a brand new Walnut MFLB. If your in the market for a new box this is a good chance to save some duckets. Money has been tight so I've been trying to catch a deal, glad to see this in my inbox this morning!

Never mind the Massdrop was ended without explanation.

I was a little heartbroken earlier it did appear to be cancelled but it appears it's back on as of now! I look forward to having a Box again, this time in Walnut.

Nice, but they removed the orbiter option though. Do you happen to know what the price for the MFLB + Orbiter drop was when it was running?

@sour did you check out the connoisseurs club at magic flight for just getting a bare box? i assume you still have the charger from the lost one.

i remember to have seen pictures of a large battery pack around here. @OF was it one of your experiments or am i completely wrong? were you satisfied with the results?

Beats me what you might have seen....or heard. I have built several 12VDC battery packs. First for the PD, then adapted a bit for running the MF PA in the garden (where it works just fine.....), finally to it's current role with Solo. Basically the same, three 18650s in series with the right connector. Here's the current version sitting in front of my Solo 'war bag' (it normally lives in a side pocket):

Beats me, I never tried it. Besides it's not a realistic measure IMO. 'How many drinks in a bottle of whiskey?'. You and I can easily have a much different answer? Sort of like 'how many sessions per gram?'.

Back of the envelope calculations 'say' about 9 times what a glyph battery, enough to drive the PA about one hour total time?
