Maybe that's the problem, I don't want a slower heat up time. I am using to pulling out my Persei and getting vapor right away. Seems like 5 seconds of nothing at first. The 3.7 is usable and tasty just slow to fire up and get the job done. 7.4 for either coil is way too hot even with a pulse. Without the iris or core you cannot dial it in properly IMO. Since the iris doesn't work, I'm sol.

the vapor produced at 3.7v is instant with the dual coils. There is no heat up time specially with the Persei.

Plus with the new iris on the horizon you are not since we will still honor the trade in program for the iris for the new one.

I actually think the AC is the best unit yet as far as performance on a battery, great hits in a short amount of time. Sorry that gary isn't the mcdonalds of vaporizers buddy what can I say :/

I agree that the airflow adjustment does nothing though lol... I think it's just too loose so air is coming in from all around no matter what... fine with me I like a big air draw :p

I must have a bad top or something. I had a fully charged battery when j started. I also tried the hammer. When I used the hammer top it billowed, but it would not turn off so I had to unscrew the battery. I'll charge again and try to find my OG double top.

Im not sure what that means, but I have been here for years supporting this company, so when I have issues I like to put them out there so everyone can learn.

Do you have the V4 top?

No. I have
1black unnumbered top
1 original numbered black double top,
1 original numbered blue top,
1 original numbered blue double top
1 faulty black hammer top that won't shut off.
1 v1 iris

Also an omicron with hvd somewhere.

well I dunno, just seems like if the ac isn't hitting fast enough for you I don't know what possibly could... I get insta hits on a full charged battery, fresh n tasty and rich. sounds like maybe you have a bad top like you mentioned, or something isn't making a full connection somewhere? weak hits can be an endless source of frustration...

see this is where the issue is, the non V4 tops have a bad low voltage circuit. Meaning the V4 tops are way better to handle the .6 ohm loads the kiss alphas need to get up and go.

For me, one of the selling points is lack of glow. I have read (so only anecdotal evidence) that glowing should be avoided as it indicates temps higher than what is necessary. Said glowing can (does?) create oxidation and oxidants are bad, bad, bad (so they say). Also makes the vapor very hot which personally is a problem.

I would not say that vapor is instant on the AC dual coil atty at 3.7v. It takes a few or more seconds to get to temp specially if a lot is loaded. Once at temp though you can ride the button longer without fear of burning. This is with freshly charged AW IMR 18650 batter. At the 7v the vapor is pretty fast on the dual coil although not "instant".

I'm not giving up 100%. It just cannot take place of my main driver yet. I need quick powerful hits. The globe with double coil does that great on my old Persei.

I am recharging the AW 18650 then I'll charge 2 AW 18350's. If I can't get good hits out of those, then i know something is up with the tops. I have not had to have service in years, I'm guessing it's time again.

I could really use that upraded iris too.

tharealmclovin,
I have a question about the Hercules SR-71. It's a nice device. I recently bought two. Does anyone know where I can find a longer ceramic heating element for the cartridge?

YouShouldTap_Shatter,
Thanks, therealmclovin. Cutting the coil works great for the oil or wax, but sometimes when I haven't done lab work I have flowers and the SR-71 doubles as a really nice bowl when attached to a 22" piece of glass. A longer ceramic soldering-type wick would work better with the flowers. I imagine that I could buy a ceramic heating element and try to run wires myself, but I just wanted to see if I could save some time/$$ on the learning curve. Thanks again.

What you want is the hammer top it's a click on/off top that comes with a 1/2" rod. It can be used for flowers, but I never really liked it too much.

Ahhhhh! Great to know. Thanks, I'll check it out.

from the older days.

Want to say all hammer tops dont come with the hammer rods and are not guaranteed, but we do have hammer rods in stock that we include with the tops. So if we have it you will get one.

Cloud Searcher...
Kiss AC double coils working great tonight. Instant vapor, running an 8 with the Okeanos (7.4v).

Giant size clouds, one after the other...and so tasty.

I'm curious about these 'insta-hits'. Exactly how long is instant? I have found the dual coil takes a while to heat up (5+ seconds) before I start getting good vapor production. Similarly it takes awhile to cool down. The Ni dual coils for the Kiss Globe produce much more vapor much more rapidly for me. Is this not what others are experiencing? I'll try to post a more complete set of thoughts on my new AC after Memorial Day but thus far not super impressed.

Thanks for the video. Very nice. It appears to be just what I need. However, I just went to my tool box and pulled out my spare ceramic heater. It measures 2 cm or 7/8 of an inch. How long is the ceramic rod in the hammer top?

YouShouldTap_Shatter,
Either. 3.7 is not hot enough and 7.4 burns it and the batteries die really quickly.
For me, one of the selling points is lack of glow. I have read (so only anecdotal evidence) that glowing should be avoided as it indicates temps higher than what is necessary. I found 2x fresh newer type AW batteries was lightning fast w/ a dual coil, comparable to the speed of a KISS Ti @7.4v - i don't have mine with me to refresh my memory, but I remember making an oh shit face at the guy in the mirror when I hit the AC on my Persei as though it was my omicron HVD w/ 2 little blue batteries. Oh, lungs, I hardly knew ye.

I also found that the batteries need recharging after only a little use (though Gary did already note it's probably a low power shutoff that's set conservatively that's giving me problems).

When using batteries OTHER THAN my brand spanking new AW 18350's at full charge, I had more moderate results, clocking in at more like 3 seconds. Within a few uses, the performance of freshly charged AWs dropped significantly, too -- I was blown away by my first 2 hits, but then the next few were much more moderate, and suddenly I was getting 3 blinking lights. Terrible battery life, but those first couple hits... Crazy.

Like others mentioned, the base gets hot af, and I'm wondering if the air flow is more useful for some upcoming addition to the KISS AC platform, cause all 3 holes felt like too much airflow. Maybe it should be used as a carb? Maybe once I've gunked everything up, the extra air flow will help?

ragnorokk,
I like the single coil @ 3.7 - I was not impressed by the dual at 3.7, but I had been able to get it up to temp and perform. I was using a 14500 aw, so it might be better on a Persei with a big ass battery. I didnt like how long it took to get visible vapor. In a layg wax atomizer, I think it's important that the payload be delivered as quickly and thoroughly as possible. Slowly hitting temp is good for flavor, but gives my wax time to get runny and dribble off the coil and into the skillet if I loaded a nice clump. Conversely, with the single coil at 7.4 (with the 2x fresh AW 18350's), I was finding it heated up too quickly, and just spread a fine layer of wax on everything. It DID deliver a bomb hit, even while spraying my wax everywhere, so I'll credit it with delivering dope hits.

And to be fair, I'll try 3.7v mode with a larger battery than the 14500 that was used, and see if that's more impressive.

Also sounds like I should try my 8.

If I may ask, why did you not like the hammer top for flowers? Is it matter of heat? Ease of use?

Heat wands are not my thing. Seemed to slow when i can pull out a big and pull monster rips.

Edit: just loaded my fresh 18650 with the single coil, held for 7 seconds and barely got any vapor. Covered the coil so i couldn't even see it, still no vapor. Kinda frustrating that my gear is not compatible. Was looking forward to using it all weekend at a tournament, but I can't trust it enough. Guess it sits next to the herc, while I use my $15 globes until I get new tops. But my Perseis are so old, they are out of warranty.
