Discontinued The Persei Vaporizer for herbs and concentrates.

I am loving the new alpha i dont know if i was just one of the lucky ones but mine was pretty clean of metal shavings and i have no threading issues. My only question is does anyone else feel like the single coil eats oil. I havent tried all three yet because i was low on oils but what i have put in seems to run through quick, other then that i am a happy guy
I liked single coil fine @ 3.7v, but @7.4v it spreads my oil evenly across all surfaces it can. The dual can annihilate too, once up to heat -- be careful and let it cool down occasionally between bursts -- I finally burnt some oil today.

But the dual at 7.4 with short bursts, and quick cool downs gives amazing, immediate results.

I checked all 3 of my alphas. I only tried the single and doubles. Once I felt heat, I let go. I barely saw a glow on the rest. The last one would not heat or glow. I held it for the 10 sec timeout with no heat
Edit: still won't heat directly screwed in.

Edit 2: first impressions it seems quite nice. Heat up time is a little slower than the original globes, but once it goes vapor pours out. Taste is much better, but we will see after a 3 day disc golf tournament.
Damn, b. 3? You gearing up for the wax-pen-pocalypse?

The AC coils are not rebuildable, and the rebuild kits are for the standard kiss cartridge.

What coils are not rebuildable? I would be pretty let down if they weren't... I don't understand if the coils aren't rebuildable why did I get a bunch of coil insulators? I haven't taken one apart yet but what's different here that makes it not rebuildable compared to a standard globe coil?

I think they just aren't rebuildable with the current kit, not necessarily that it could never be done. I guess I haven't peeked inside to confirm whether they're built the same way as the current (previous?) gen.

On a side note, I have a bender coming my way. Are there any tips and/or tricks I should be aware of?

Just want to say again how much I'm loving the ac. I don't want to ramble on, just mention 2 things I keep thinking. The coils in the ac carts are beautiful (especially the dual) and the whole thing feels like such a great solid platform to upgrade on. I love how my w9 stuff so often feels like a solid, substantial piece of machinery, it's what makes the 8 so tempting when I 100% don't need it.

The 1701 is user serviceable and the whole unit is user serviceable, the single coil might be rebuildable but im not gonna dive into that and the dual coil is a little more difficult so saying not rebuildable saves me lots of headaches.

What does "user serviceable" mean if not rebuildable? What else what I want to service lol

1701 is rebuildable. The user serviceability is directed towards the Kiss Alpha Platform.

The Bender can be a Weed hog! You need to load a lot for it to function well. A trick to be able to use smaller loads effectively is to stack a couple of Stainless Steel washers on top of the Hammer Rod, thereby raising the Bender chamber on the heater.
The flavor is amazing  .
If you are not careful you will be smoking.:o Button technique is key.
Enjoy. Get bent!:D

Ah I see, so there are no plans for an alpha C coil rebuild kit in the near future? I would totally buy one if you offered it, guaranteed. I am sure I will have no problem assembling whatever coil needs to be made... I just would need the correct gauge wire, and maybe replacement wicks... And those non-resistance wire crimps if you used those in this unit. What guage wire did you use for these / did you use the non-resistance wires?

The Kiss AC comes with

1 x Single Coil Ti Gr2 wire works with 3.7v and 7.4v. 7.4v you have to pulse really fast as it takes half a second to heat up. Works best at 3.7v if you want to have it last long time.

1 x Dual Coil Ti Gr2, works with 3.7v but 7.4v its a ripper once again requires AW imr batteries and pulsing at 7.4v.

I was getting three blinking red lights when trying to use the AC in 7.4v mode on a Persei V4 top. That's why I was thinking 7.4v was only for the 8.

But I just tried on a Persei V2 top instead and it's working fine at 7.4v. Trying the v4 top again and I can get it to work maybe 1 out of every 4 or 5 times I unscrew the AC. When it does work, it will only last a few button presses and then goes back to blinking red.

I am using the 18350 AW IMR batteries.

Very happy overall with the AC though. The dual coil at 7.4v seriously just filled the room with a cloud! Now just need to get the crap cleaned off my glass piece, it came all gunked up.

the Dual coils work best on the 8, as for the Persei they need fresh charged batteries. These things require serious amount of power at first to start going.

There might be planned, but you can always use the 1701 as a single coil rebuild, we just need time to work on other things for the Kiss AC and it will.

Cool good to hear, I hope it comes soon. I do like the 1701 for the AC, it is a huge improvement over the first generation, now I will have to see how it holds up durability wise.

Ya I am getting the same issue with my dual coil at 7.4, it just won't fire with any sort of reliability... That's ok though because for me it gives herculean style clouds at 5.0V, where it fires great. I really like the style and flavor of low-n-slow vapin on the bottom end of the voltage spectrum.

Singles for $5.99 ea. (qty 4) and duals for $6.74 ea. (qty 4). At that price, saves me a lot of and headaches not having to rebuild them. Thanks @THC SCIENTIFIC for keeping the price reasonable on these extra Kiss AC & Okeanos coils.

So, I got my wire and ceramic wicks from KidneyPuncher.com today. First i must make it clear: THIS IS NOT A MOD. This is an experiment and I will be using this unit as a back-up only. I decided to try to rebuild my 7.4v KISS that died ( or more correctly, I killed it). For this experiment, I used NiChrome 80 wire 32awg. For the length of wire that I used the final cart resistance is 3.8Ohm. The wicks come in 1.5"'lengths so I cut what I needed (7mm) using a razor blade and a tap from my pliers.

First step is to remove the center contact. I used my thumbnail, but a small eyeglass screwdriver works too. Be careful not to puncture the white insulator.
IeGnjSs.jpg

Next remove the white insulator with a toothpick or eyeglass screwdriver. Again very careful with the insulator. After the insulator is removed the ceramic cup will come out.
nrdFick.jpg

Next I took the small piece of wick and wrapped the wire around leaving a long enough tail to work with. This was my first try and I was able to get 5 wraps around the wick without the individual wraps touching each other. You should end up with long enough legs on the coil to thread into the housing and white insulator. I tried to have a sharp bend in the wire where it comes off the coil.
JERPOCE.jpg

Next, place the coil back into the ceramic cup being careful to have one wire going into each of the two outside holes leaving the center hole open. Then place the white insulator over ONE wire and the other on the outside. Gently press the insulator in place until it is seated. Now you need to cut the legs flush with the white insulator. If there is some wire protruding that you can't quite cut you can tuck it behind the insulator. Be careful not to tuck excess in to wrong side of insulator.
7Geqdhy.jpg

This is the finished product. It can and should be verified with a multimeter. Mine was 3.8Ohm. Verify there is no direct short. The wick starts out dark add I did not clean the cup first.
SqQBcok.jpg

This thing fires very fast. And definitely does NOT taste as good as it did when new. But again, this is now a spare instead of garbage.
YvzE1s8.jpg

This was surprisingly easy but tedious and time consuming. I have much respect to anyone cranking these things out for a living:clap::clap::clap:.
I wish I found this tutorial earlier. I tried to use the titanium wire from the rebuild kits and nearly gouged my eyes out in frustration. Then through trial and error research, I found kidney puncher got exactly the same parts and started cranking these out in like 10 minutes a coil. At first I thought these cartridges were crap. But once I learned how to rebuild them, I realized that they are probably the best wax cartridge on the market.

I was hoping I could jury rig something up with screens to allow for smaller payloads, but without it in front of me I have no clue what I can or cannot do. Lol. Too bad the temp control sounds a little tough -- hopefully the universe will make for easy flower vaping, as fiddly is generally ok by me, but my lady would prefer as low of a learning curve as possible, or she'll just say screw it and burn it in a bubbler.

Must say I am not liking the double coil. Never seems to get hot enough consistently. Sometimes I get a hit, sometimes I don't. When I do it pours out uncontrollably. Single coil is much better.

I put a bunch in. It bubbles but never really glows or gets consistent vapor. I think it's my top. The adapter gets really hot too. It does eventually vape, but after a 5-10 second warm up.

I am using a refurbished top and my hammer top is faulty too. I put in a ticket for it with my bad coil.

These 2 photos are what sold me on the alpha. I have yet get either coil to glow like the photo showed. I have a feeling I will be going back to the traditional kiss globe. I think everyone is forgetting what KISS meant. This is not simple to say the least. And the airflow adjustment does absolutely nothing.

Correction. The airflow adapter works best when all holes are covered.

Edit again: 7.4 double coil glows, but only like 3-5 of the wraps. Single coil glows after a long hold down. Maybe it's my tops like I said

Yet another edit: I am truly bummed that my iris has become useless with all my new gear. The AC won't work and all the double coil globes I bought. Now my over $100 (if I remember right) top sits useless. I think the double coil AC would be great @ 6.0 volts. Too bad I can't test that out. Hate to say it, but I may have to buy a VV device.

But now I'm screwed because I bought 601 threading.

I disagree.

I agree the coil glows, but what I was basing everything off of was the video we had to wait to see before we ordered. From that video it looked like the whole coil would be glowing bright right instantly. I get the center of my coils to glow after 5-10 seconds.

I get a much bigger hit, much quicker with the og globe with a double coil. So why not stick with that. Also a lot cleaner to work with.

I just held it down for 20 seconds to get the whole coil glowing. By that time i have my other glove back in my pocket.

because we use black ceramic, the black ceramic absorbs more oil, takes longer to heat up for this reason. The illustration on the video might be confusing but there is no indication on the video that said instant glow.

In fact glowing is bad, we only used the red to indicate heat and on top of that once oil is added there will be no glow. Thermodynamics come into play.

We engineered our devices for the correct temperatures to operate when using our coils.

Oils Vaporizer around 500F-550F nothing more is needed. We want to preserve the taste as much as possible without burning the oil to high heaven.

this video should illustrate how the cartridges heat up.

Maybe that's the problem, I don't want a slower heat up time. I am using to pulling out my Persei and getting vapor right away. Seems like 5 seconds of nothing at first. The 3.7 is usable and tasty just slow to fire up and get the job done. 7.4 for either coil is way too hot even with a pulse. Without the iris or core you cannot dial it in properly IMO. Since the iris doesn't work, I'm sol.

Back to what works for now.
