Any wax attys that don't suck

I've tried the globes, divine tribe attys, omicron, etc.

They all have tiny ass air holes at the bottom that get plugged and leak on the battery threads.

I like huge bong rips and none of the wax attys give me that.

The closest I've come has been building coils on an rda but building coils isn't really my thing.

Are there any attys out there that pull air through the sides like an rda and gives huge clouds?

It's pricey but the w9tech.com Hercules has served me very well over the last year it takes some trial and error on learning the technique but there's a huge presence on the Persei thread willing to help including the owner of the company

Thanks I was actually checking out the Hercules today. I have the I stick 30w I was hoping to find something to work with it.

Those are some sick set ups. After researching through the persei thread i'm pretty sure i will be ordering a persei ti with the hercules cartridge. I also realized i have not tried the omicron i was thinking of the g pen. :-p

my vote is for rebuilding your RDA. i take dab sized rips from mine everyday.

i have never experienced anything anywhere near it with any of the pre manufactured options. plus going the RDA route is way cheaper to boot.

I actually use the I go-w and the dbc coil right now. I read through the one hitter quitter thread and followed your advice. It hits good but I can still taste the kanthal and seem to burn the oil easily. I also find the readyxwick is a pita to keep from fraying when wrapping coils. I don't like the fact that the coil sits almost right against the cap. I wish I had a taller cap.

I was thinking of trying out the vengeance since it seems like you could make the coil sit lower. I'm just tired of not getting the hit or taste I desire. I love dabs off a glass nail or ti skillet out of a bong. No kanthal taste no burnt oil taste just giant rips of tasty goodness and that is what I'm looking for in an atty or pen.

yep the DBCs can be a PITA to make and install. i have been using smaller OD versions and can mount them next to the coils instead of on top of them. this allows for use in any RDA.

regarding burnt errl... i have the answer. its all about temp limiting devices. never burn a dab again.

I have been using heat shrink tubing on the ends to help with the fraying but it still happens especially if i try to wrap the 1st coil tight. Im going to try making an oblong dbc to try to get it to sit loweR, it seems it either hits the top or the side.

What i would really like to see is a ceramic heating element with a fc2000 wick. Basically like the sr74x but with a fc2000 wick instead of ti. I stopped using metal for herb years ago ang would like the same thing vaping. I was loking at the ipv4 mod for tc. I expect tc devices will totally changer the way we vape now.

its ok if it hits the side of the RDA. deck or cap. the RXW will keep it from shorting. cut a piece of RXW about 1-1/4" and make a tight DBC with that. that should be small enough to mount on the side of the posts.

i like FC2000 as well, but have not found a porosity that i think works well. the FC2000 i have tried does not wick very well. need something a bit more porous IMO.

Maybe a mechanical mod (As suggested, an RDA) with very little cotton? I too have tried many of the cheap "Globes" only to throw them out after the first use- Bleh! Heard a lot of good things about the hercules.

Ive been experimenting with my new SXmini Mclass and a Veritas RDA from Fasttech. The Mclass has temp control which after some fiddling around with actually works really well. No more puddles of burnt oil at the bottom of my RDA's deck. When I am using my rig as a dab unit with a whip and bong I load up big fat hits and I can take huuuuge hits, I dont think there is a time out on the Mclass. On the go I load up smaller bb sized hits and use it with the mouth piece, get 2-3 hits. I dont like to load up much more as it can run off the coil/rod and end up on the deck and doesnt get vaped. But with temp control and dry coil sensing it never burns the oil on the deck so it can be reclaimed easily and put back on the coil. Much less waste.

The build im liking the best so far is this 3.5mm white ceramic rod with 2 coils side by side of 28g Nickel. 13 warps each gives me around 0.112 ohms. I have my temp set at 250deg C. and running it at 35-40joules. Heats up super fast and vaporizes everything quickly. I checked with my external temp probe and it never went above 250deg. C.

The air hole on the Veritas is right behind the coil so it gets tons of air and cooling. I wish the bottom of the deck was tilted forward on it and the center pin was a bit farther back.

I didnt like my dual coil build on the Vengance. Oil still ran off and cant get horizontal coils low enough.

great to hear! this is HUGE actually. damn i need to order my yihi chip and get goin on this. ive been hearing nothing but amazing things about that mod and chip.

i do believe there is a timed cut off on the switch, but i think its like 15 seconds so youd prolly never need all of it.

the sound of a .2 ohm coil firing to vaping temps in a sec (or less) but never going over set temp...? im so jealous right now!

do u have glass? can you post videos? not a bog deal, but fig id ask.

thanks for the update!

btw... what did you pay for your SX mini and how long did it take for slowtech to get it to you?

Thanks guys great info. I'm going to order the IPv4 and keep working on the rda stuff with temp control. I figure what the hell a temp control mod for less than a hundred why not!

I'm also going to try some w9tech stuff it seems to have a strong following and after watching your video @paytonpenn ive gotta at least try the kiss 1701. Where did you get that globe adapter for the perc?

@Phife that's a sick build dual coil on one rod!! Thanks for the info on how well t/c has been working out. Yes yes I second what @2clicker said a video would be awesome!!!!

How are you guys attaching your vapes to the bong? Silicone tubing or something else? I really don't wanna taste rubber etc in my hits so I've been afraid to jerry rig something!

i simply have an o-ring on the drip tip and just hold it against the 14mm female gong to seal it. you can just slightly lift it off to carb if needed.

works very well

@2clicker thanks for tip on the o-ring it works fantastic!! The bong really helps with the taste. I loaded a dab on the under side of the dbc and ripped it. Hugh clouds outta the bong!

another tip for ya. instead of putting the dab on the bottom... simply place the dab ontop like normal. then finesse the fire button just enough to melt the dab. it will wick into the RXW like a sponge. then you can hit it from any angle without fear of losing any of it from dripping off.

this is how i medicate 90% of the time.

My coil is sitting a little to high so it's easy to load from the bottom. I do let it melt in 1st just not all the way I get a better flavor that way.

I ordered the IPv4 today I hope to have it on Sat. Unfortunately the place I ordered it from didn't have ni200 wire. I hope I can find it locally.

I was looking for this on fasttech but did not see it? I did see several others for around $50 that claim temp control with nickel wire?
  • Temperature control needs to use pure nickel heating wire atomizer (Atomizer Resistance:0.1-1ohm)
If it only works with one type wire are they really measuring temp? I guess I need to read up on this more. I like the temp control idea if it works and keeps me from burning my oil. I am ok with LAYG. I have already burned up about $80 worth of my meds in my hercs with the locking on/off button. :(

I have an RDA and a box of different pre wound coils in different ohms with wicks but it's time to figure this out for real.

@Joel W., you can find temp limiting devices from Evolve for around $50 ready to go. only problem is that their version of temp limiting doesnt seem to work as well as it should. at least from everything ive read.

the chip that is getting rave reviews is the YiHi SX350j. this chip can be found in a couple of devices. that includes the SX mini mods. these are all about $200 tho if you buy authentic. not sure any clones have the YiHi chip yet.

Temp control can be used with titanium wire or Nickel wire although ti will be hotter then the set temp. It works by measuring the resistance of the wire as the coils get hotter the resistance increases

The IPv4 also uses a yihi chip just not the 350j. I can't wait to try it out.

yep from what i gather from those using Ti wire on the temp limiting devices is that you have to experiment with dif gauges of wire to get the same performance as nickel wire. but it does work.

Hey Guys,

Sorry, no video. Maybe i'll make one up when I get my new Vertias RDA (slightly bigger version than the one I have)

So far its been working good though, I should say I got my YiHi SXMini Mclass from Dash Vapes not from Fasttech, it was $249.99CAD. I got the Veritas RDA from fasttech, but I just ordered the copper version as it has its negative screws further apart and slightly more deck space.

For hooking up to my glass bong I just use some silicone tubing with a 18mm ground glass joint on one end and the other just slips over the driptip on the RDA.

I still have some oil run off the coil, especially if I dont "prime" the rod first. So after about a week of daily use I just unscrew the coils from the RDA and remove the coils and rod. Then i scoop up all the oil I can, wipe it all down clean, rebuild and then switch to watt mode and burn the ceramic rod clean. Still lose some oil, but much better. Gonna see if I can make some twisted or clapton wire from the Nickel, that should help hold the oil on the coil better.
