New Things or Gadgets In the Marketplace To Buy

It seems like new things are coming out everyday for folks to buy. Some good some not so good. This is interesting it's called the SoloWheel. This was at the trade show in 2012 but came out for folks to buy in 2014. Not sure I would buy this for myself but I can see other might be interested in it. Kinda like a Segway but with one wheel and no handle. A form of transportation or maybe fun (for some). I can see a lot of injuries but there's many thrill seekers.

I'm a HUGE gadget geek, but I typically try to stay behind by 1 generation so I don't have to play "beta tester" for the company. Here's a gift my wife got this past Christmas.

The Anova Sous Vide

It's a tiny device to convert any pot (or modified cooler) into a sous vide!

For those who don't know, these cooking devices were once very expensive and used only in expensive restaurants. It allows you to precisely cook food to a desired temperature. If you like your steak medium rare at 132F, you can easily cook to a perfect 132F every time.

(Naturally, I've also used it to make ABV Cannabutter, and was amazed at the results. There was almost no smell until after I finished cooking and opened the bag!)

Coincidentally, the Anova SV started it's life as a kickstarter campaign!

DDave carves the pavement on one of these. Not a rip stick! I wore out the wheels on those in less than a month.... all the kids on the block prefer this over their rip sticks...

This one, the WhipTide, has the following advantages...
* with Dual wheels, get much more life out of a set before they need to be replaced.
* also, the dual wheels seem to offer more protection from lockup when hitting rocks or sticks
* the center piece offers much more flexibility, greater stability, tighter turning.

These are called Hearnotes wire free earbuds.

"Iron Man": Prosthetic Hand

Tiny Tony Starks, it's time to suit up. This prosthetic hand was built to help kids with disabilities live and look like "Iron Man." Mechanical designer Pat Starace used a 3-D printer to print this particular hand, which comes equipped with Bluetooth connectivity, a USB charger, voice-controlled LED "lasers" and a "thruster" that lights up when the hand is tilted back. He is giving away the one he unveiled last week for free and is partnering with the online community E-nable to create more. His goal for the prosthetic hand? To make it "look awesome" and "raise self-esteem to superhero levels." We think it's pretty safe to say "mission accomplished."


Maybe you can't buy this in the regular marketplace, I thought it was a neat thing.

I LOVE this relatively new musical instrument.........The Harpejji. Kind of a cross between a piano and a guitar. Don't know if any of you caught the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2015, but Stevie Wonder played it with Bill Withers on Ain't No Sunshine.........overall, a great show, especially the band that played the pre introduction into the Hall of Fame for the Butterfield Blues Band, who, btw, didn't use a Harpejji but instead had an unbelievable harmonica solo (have only watched the first hour. It's on the DVR)....:

Atually he used it for this particular song (i dont recall the track) and he was taking a really long solo on this harpejji and it was really out of key (i'm a professional musician) im thinking either he cant hear the mix properly or this weird little instrument sounds really bad! Haha. He finishes the song and he says 'man, im not gonna lie to you, i couldnt hear anything then' pretty funny!

Amazing gig, really worth checking him out, these genuine superstars wont be around forever!

Funny you should mention that. I just found this raw feed from the show I saw last night where he stopped in the middle because he was out of key. Check out what he said before he resumed.

That's Bill Withers sitting next to him. Wonder is such a good vocalist, especially when he ad-libs. Those runs are insane.

@lwien yes those runs are insane! Melisma is the technical name if your interested? Its so annoying these days all the x factor style singers just constantly do melismas at the end of every phrase. And really badly too! I guess Stevie is kind of responsible for popularising that style of vocal! We wont blame him for being amazing and everyone doing bad imitations though!

I was beginning to wonder if anyone else had one.

I've had my SP3 since last September, and I don't go anywhere without it, and I use it for everything. We home school our daughter, and the SP3 is perfect for that. You can start a lesson inside, and finish it outside, i.e.-field trips, etc. I would never go back to a laptop now that I am used to this kind of technology. I'm also hooked on inking.
