Yeah, I think if I'd been waiting a year, I'd have completely lost hope by now. I've only been watching this for about 3 months and I'm nagged with little doubts about it. Props to everyone who's managed to stay sane all this time.

Believe it or not, I haven't lost hope and really believe/hope we'll see the initial units ship soon. If you've done a few crowdfunding campaigns you'll notice everyone has an overly optimistic timeline / schedule. Here's a recent favorite of mine: the handheld flamethrower on Kickstarter. (No I didn't fund this thing though I can see it being nice with a really large oil rig).

There's no possible way they could hit this schedule, given they hadn't even finished the basic R&D before they got funded. If you look at what they have its obvious that there are lot of basic things that still to be figured out. Still with this schedule they point out that they think its is conservative and its possible that it might ship earlier. Yeah right.

Point is that there's a Catch-22 that if you don't go out with a schedule like this, chances are good you wont get funded. Sure, there's a lot of you-don't-know-what-you-don't-know that always comes up, but by now everyone involved should know that these initial schedules never play out. I don't blame the GH guys...they did what they had to do to get funded and produce this thing. I am happy they were able to raise the $$ because I want to see more talented young engineers get into this line of business. What's telling is that even though they are a year plus late, if they ship soon the GH will still be state-of-the-art in this increasingly competitive portable space.

Seriously, has any of the IGG backers messaged Trevor recently to know what the heck we're still waiting on?? I don't care when I see mine, I just want to know SOMEONE is getting what they paid for!
this... "With some of every part in-stock, we’re working tirelessly to get the final details sorted and shipping started." soooo clearly the final details is slowing them down... what the heck are those details?

I kinda wish I was a backer... not so much to get mine asap but so id be more justified emailing asking whats going on :p

lol@ reddit "If anything ships this month, it will be on the 31st at 11:59pm."

In a way a pre-order has the greater expectation of a return than a backer. Backers had no guarantee that a Grasshopper would ever be made. Pre-orders entered into a purchase and sale agreement and are entitled to the product.

Not that this matters. They will ship to backers first and then to pre-orders, all on a first-come, first-serve basis we presume.

If I had to guess, it's probably the mass packaging/shipment with ups/fedex/etc as well as smoothing out the assembly process.

Hey @BuzzDanklin. It's been awhile since you've been using the preproduction unit now. Any new insights on how it's working for you? Not sure if 2 months (give or take a few weeks) is considered enough time to comment on reliability, etc.

he just posted a few pages ago. Everything is working fine and still booting like a champ as far as he's said.

@johnnyCanuck Still alive and being used frequently, I actually took a bunch of photos with it on a hike just the other day, there should be a link a few posts back to the album. I have encountered no problems, so reliability is still good, but 2 months with 1 unit isn't near enough time to generalize the reliability, but its a good start :)

I think we're waiting for larger numbers of those "some parts" that are in stock, as well as assembly, which I'm assuming must be as difficult as playing the old Operation game while drunk. I honestly cannot figure out what purgatory this project is stuck in, somewhere between parts in stock and starting to assemble seems like ten minutes work to me.

I'd email him but I feel like I've been emailing him too much (he's also kind of ignored questions about how the production/shipping was going that I threw in with emails regarding adjusting my order)

Perhaps someone should email Trevor and ask him to reply to his whole entire customer base whenever someone asks him a question(s) in an email.
Ya know that would probably save a lot of time and effort for everybody

As far as I understood it,
assembly - quality control - shipping

Maybe assembly and shipping are quick, but who knows anything about quality control, in someones email they said something about testing to make sure everything is all set in each one with all v1 parts

we're basically beta testers anyway.. assemble it..charge the battery and ship it.

How many cycles can they run per pen before they think its sufficient?

Their going to stress test whatever little life it may have left before i get to stress test it lol.

I'd rather get the pen with 0 on off heat cycles etc than a bunch.
