so i was having a hard time getting any tube to thread onto the hammer top i just got and noticed there seem to be burs on the first thread in the top all the way around is there anything i can use to safely clean the threads i don't have a tap that large

Edit: i can get it to work if I'm very careful starting and i gotta say the click on click off function is awesome i really cant wait to get my hands on the v4

lonelyhero,
I've had a number of thread issues with some recent purchases, and all I can say is if it doesn't want to thread, don't attempt to make it thread - flip it over and look at it and what it fails to thread onto very carefully in good lighting, before trying to troubleshoot.

Bad threads seem to be infinitely stronger than good threads, and win out every time :(

Got my AC today, and rocked it out dual coil Centauri style. First impression is it's surprisingly small and heavy as others have said. Really nice feel and all my threading is perfect. I did have some spurious metallic bits at the upper air holes as others, but in my case a paper clip was able to remove them so no problem for me there.

I did a burn off on the dual coil at 7.4 and the coils glowed quite readily. I did notice that one the coils is significantly hotter than the other. Then I switched to 3.6v and loaded some nug run blue dream crumble. All I can say is . The coils never glow but made short work of the crumble turning it into delicious tasting clouds of vapor in a matter of a few seconds.

Some things I wish (all minor really):
I wish it worked on my Iris v1 (shows Lo)
I wish my Nibbler-GN fit on it :( (don't understand why not)
I wish it sat flush against the Persei top (hate the 3/16th inch gap)
I wish it had a larger place to hold it above the air control swivel and maybe some "teeth" like the Oceans has.
I wish the air control swivel was a bit better at staying put, mine turns very easily and I need to keep checking it.

All in all I am quite pleased though and looking forward to new developments to the AC platform. :peace:
I agree with your wish list, though I don't own an iris. Not sitting flush on my Persei top made me wonder if it's designed with v4 top specifically in mind.

Picked my alpha centauri up today on lunch. Really satisfied with the size and weight of it. Glass feels nice in the mouth hole. I had some metal shards around both the heat shield on top as well as the air flow adjustment holes on the bottom so be sure to check both guys!

Question: are both of the coil catrs (the single and dual coil) able to be used at 3.7 and 7.4v or strictly the dual wick? I ask because only the donut has a voltage labeled on it

O.K. The old guy Fuck-up (me) can't seem to get my Hercules SR-74X going no matter how many times I read (and look at the drawings) of the instructions. Shirley, I'm doing something wrong. I keep getting 3 lights. Oh, the Persei works: with the regular attachment, I get good vape. I'm sure my ceramic rod is making connection in the Herc. Please put your X-ray goggles (or X-ray Googles) and advise me, Oh Angels of 710.

@macbill

try backing out the adjustment screw on the bottom insulator the herc you may not be making a good connection to the persei

Disappointing experience unboxing my new Kiss AC. I had seen the reports of some roughness with the machining but didn't anticipate it to be this bad. Definitely not the quality I have come to expect from @THC SCIENTIFIC.

I had a few small burrs inside my metal MP as well, was easy to poke off with a pair of needlenose. Doesn't really bother me as it was easy fix because I already knew about it... could be a problem for those who don't though :(. A slight bit of catch on the glass globe threading as well, but it seems to have smoothed itself out after putting it on and taking it off, barely noticeable. Both minor issues in my opinion...

The device itself performs awesomely, I love the stealth mode / glass globe switching, the airflow adjustment is nice (a little bit loosey goosey). It looks AWESOME on my persei, and I like the construction of it all around. All three coils shipped with it taste amazing.... better than the herc I think! I will probably be shelving the herc except for party time or what have you, as I think the Kiss AC will be much more efficient with wax over time.

Trying to figure out this dual coil still though, fires good at 3.7-5.0V, but at 6.6 and above on the core or 7.4v batteries I get red flashing light on my persei / won't fire?

Don't remember what the SR74X looks like, but an issue i had on the SR71 was that if you tighten the center post that connects the base to the ceramic rod too much, the bottom pin and insulator on the opposite side will be pulled in and not make a good contact.

also check your resistance using a multimeter

can anyone confirm that the single coil is only 3.7v or 3.7 and 7.4v?

Received my AC. Initially checked all pieces for fit and finish. I notice threading of globe attachment is a little rough but now has cleared up after a few passes. Glass looks nice though very thin. All other threading operate smoothly. I also have the burring in the mouthpiece diffusion holes from drilling/machining. All coils light up but the Ceramic atty is missing the black wick. ?? Strange. But the rebuild-ability looks sweet.
I'm so impressed with the wire wraps, there must be 30 wraps of Ti in the dual coil. Reading .7-.8 ohms. Slow ramp up time @3.7v the flavor is great with small, respectable clouds. @6v (my max voltage)/20w, it produces vast vapor clouds but of course with a compromise of low temp flavors. Now the single coil Ti with about 8 wraps of the black ceramic rod cold-read @ .83 ohms with similar flavor of it's big brother but it ramps up much faster. And with a quick draw can provide a very nice vapor hit… In only seconds!
Definitely decent air flow through the AC base though the design can lead to problems if the atty head gets clogged as with the "Globe". Also you have to pay attention to the adjustable air hole alignment as they easily get turned when having to unscrew the mouthpiece to and from the base for loading. The AC base can also try to unscrew from the battery mod if you don't firmly grasp the base as per instructions, but is a fairly small area given the fact the air hole adjuster slides around as you twist. Globe looks awesome but like with any globe, is messy without a shield 'and' Watch those rubber band o-rings! Can't wait for a Nibbler attachment as the best atty configuration I've had is the Dual Coil Ni with the Nibbler G @ 3.7v.(one hitter quitter) with extremely low battery A draw requirements and impressive clouds literally in seconds. I'm confident an Alpha C Nibbler attachment will be just as impressive. Note the Dual Ti is large in diameter(close in diameter of the mouthpiece tube) and if a little bubble over/splash occurs and runs down the outside of the cart, the mouthpiece may rub against it, giving the feeling of less smooth threading action. Can't comment on the ceramic except that I've used it in the recent Globe 1701 and that tastes great but as most should expect, lighter vape clouds. Overall it works very well and I now will experiment with finding the sweet spot in various voltages Or wattage.

Wow yours looks worse than mine did. I had to work at the filings with a SS pick and a bamboo skewer to remove them. Got them all out after a bit of a fuss. Gonna try it this AM.

Second cable on my second Core just failed. That's two units in a row. (i have two so i don't have to lug the core around with me) Do i dare try for a third? Or do you guys think i should just re-solder a decent power cord to go from the vape to the core? i was gonna open a ticket but, i didn't keep the original receipt (that went in the trash with the box), and i know the unit itself is still working (it's just the cheap power cable that failed again) and the cost of a new cable is about as much as the shipping would be......... what should i do? Are there other variable power supplies out there that i can look into?

Hola!
I wanted to ask you guys about the okeanos. I'm looking to get one again and wanted to know if it's a solid unit now with the upgrades? I couldn't stop the original okeanos from clogging every 2 hits. @THC SCIENTIFIC do you still plan to continue upgrading the okeanos? Will I be able to put dual coil kiss carts in it? And ceramic donut cart?

Glad to hear other people's globes are not such an issue, though I honestly expected the threading issue to be a more isolated experience -- bummer there were so many, but good that some were less problematic than others. Mine stuck very firmly, and was clearly going to cause galling, as several passes did nothing to improve the action, and is in the mail back to w9. The platform seems kickass so far, and the only thing that could improve it is vapor visibility for at home use and technique work -- I'm sure Gary will have me up and running w/ a globe in no time.

@jsnstanley - Sorry to hear about your donut wick, mine definitely arrived with one. It appears to be the same wick as the v1.5 globe donuts; if you have one already, you could just drop it in.

I also find that the larger dual coil atty tends to stick to the sides of my SS cart, so that when I open it to load, I have to fish it out from the top, as it is held firmly by vapor residue on the inside of the heatshield, and unscrewing the outside then unscrews the inside. Not a huge deal, but when I swap in the dual coil I am not yet used to this phenomenon enough to expect it.

I feel that I should again stress how much better these coils make the Okeanos. Finally, the only things you need to remember when using the Okeanos is to load wax and water in the appropriate places; No more blowing 3.7v carts @7.4v from poor short-term memory recall...

Edit:

read the above, and also -- just buy an Okeanos upgrade for $15 and make your v1 a v2. Even if you don't buy a KISS Alpha Centauri, the new coil atomizers are cheap and work great in the Okeanos -- the new rebuildable 1701 doesn't fit, but maybe @THC SCIENTIFIC has something up his sleeve... or maybe w9 plans to abandon their old stuff, but at least some of the new stuff makes it work well enough that I feel a lot better about the purchase.
