Welcome to the forum colonelforbin! My experience with Rick has been a pretty quick turn around time for delivery. Unless you have specific requests (and even if you do) it usually takes about 1 - 1 1/2 weeks. :)
The only thing that might have backlogged him is that he was waiting for washers for his heat port to be delivered. From what I understand, the washers are in and it's all systems go. So, it might be a little longer than that if he had orders backed up because of the washers not being in.

Hope you enjoy your new Zap!

I ordered mine last Thursday and Rick said it will ship this coming Friday. Rick said they had a power outage that put them behind a couple days.....

But no worries....You will receive a handmade, American product....which is rare these days.:D

mine took about seven days total and that included a weekend. I asked for a specific one. you will love the product.

how do you guys deal with expelling your ABV? what I mean is that I want to try to save it and blowing it into a jar does not work because the force of the air blows it all out. I have tried to find a suitable way to do it and have not found it yet. using a pick of some kind works but I am afraid I will puncture the screen. advice?

A quickie here. Sunday morning, fed and ready to start a very busy week.
OB, use a bottle with a neck just big enough for the stem. Then hold your hand around the stem and over the bottle neck when you blow it out. Not much escapes that way.
Washers made it FINALLY Friday evening. They are a perfect fit, exactly as I requested. I will make a batch of heatports today with them. Should really speed production which is good.
Had our 44th Friday so another day or two went to the wind. Then there was the one day power outage, about unheard of around here. That slowed us more than the day it was off. Should be able to get back to caught up by the end of the week though.
And to add to the fun, I ripped open a couple Myrtle slabs that had come with the 30-40 year stored wood I got a couple months ago. It was a good move to save it til now as it is out of this world. Was running real low on dark choices but we are back in the game again. It will be a fun week.
Farm in almost full swing too with planting happening daily. Pat has to forget her age and aches as she is the one who gets them started and moved from house to greenhouses and lots of it finally planted outside. None of any of this could happen without her. The bugs are back! Good times.
Thanks for all the support we have been getting. Lots of folks getting to know Myrtle and we appreciate it.
I will have a glass report in a few days. Hang in there. Much progress last week in one aspect of the project.

Just so you don't think we are too crazy around here, we love the bugs because it means the birds are back. We have some birds all winter but now the Swallows are here. One of Natures most amazing vacuum cleaners. We have barn and tree swallows nesting everywhere. Yesterday a Red Tailed Hawk spent much time overhead just cruising for what? I could not tell if he was looking for food or just out having fun as he hardly moved his wings. We have lots of little thermals happening in our little draw hidden in the mountains.

OB - toss that ABV in the launchbox and get a couple solid hits from it. Im in a situation that saving the ABV isnt my best option, so this works really well!

Rock the eff on man! Rick was nice enough to send me a length of tubing and some more zappolish. The tubing is pretty awesome and fits and removes a bit easier than the other tubing I was using. I think the tubing is good especially for people that are newer to the zap and dont really have the teq down as us who have had it a while. I SOOOOOOO cant wait for glass (Rick and Pat sponsored) for the zap! Im almost half tempted to get another zap with some darkness to it just so I can have contrasty zaps. Damn Im zooted.

I assume you're back from Gamehendge because Rick doesn't ship outside of North America. ;)

Yeah Screwdriver, I think you should be happy. When Rick says special, he means special. I can't wait to see pics of some of the new Zaps coming out to all of those who have ordered one.

What I feel like a kid before Christmas about is the glass! I am so stoked to see what Rick and Pat have up their sleeves. :)

I use 3" x 4" muslin draw string bags from eBay to expel ABV. Do a quick search for: muslin drawstring bags and you will see many for sale in different sizes and quantities. Today there is a seller with a 10 pack of these 3x4 bags for $3.50 shipped. You can not beat it. The bags get smelly over time and having a few spares isn't a bad idea as they are hard to clean.

I also found a wholesale site that will sell samples of the small ones for $1.30 delivered. See www.muslinbag.com

When you are done vaping just put the metal end in the bag and pull the string and also use your fingers to make a quick seal (or you may have a big mess! - I am talking from experience) and give a blow. It works great when the stem is still warm and not so well if you let it cool.

I am curious about the measurements of everyones zap. I just compared mine to a woodeez and my zap is much smaller. in turn it runs hotter and wondered if the size effected it. I do not care about the size, but i was just curious. PD owners are welcome to chime in as well....

dimensions:

zap 4 inches tall 2 1/2 inches wide (aprox)
woodeez 4 1/2 inches tall and 2 3/4 wide almost

I know there are variations, but this seemed like a big difference. what do yours measure? here we go again with the dirty comments.

Sigh.....I had really hoped I wasn't going to be the first one to answer this.....

Yes ob. Size does matter. :)

My Zap is 4 1/2 inches. Rick has mentioned in the past that there are times that a piece of wood is really nice and in order to still use it, he makes the Zap slightly smaller. These smaller Zaps will tend to run a little hotter.

So see? Being smaller can be a plus sometimes.

But remember, it's not the length so much as the circumference. LOL!

thanks mom, I knew I would hear from you. that makes sense. this thing runs pretty hot. in fact, I cannot imagine using the 13.5 because it runs plenty hot with the 12. I thought the size was probably making some difference.

I guess this is a case where good things come in small packages? ;)

Haven't posted in a while. Still loving my zap! Great to see things developing for the better in Zapville. It sounds like an enchanting place.

Finished a batch of heatports with the new washers Sunday, shipped a handful of Zaps yesterday and another today. More out before the weeks end should get us very close to caught up. The heatport construction process is much smoother and simpler and the nice wood we are into just makes it all that much more fun.
We also are picking up about 20% more mass in the new heatsink assembly with the same stack of washers. I changed both inner and outer dimensions from the stock washer with my custom order. The inner dimension allows the washer to fit over the heatport tube very tightly but still be pushed on by hand. The increased outer dimension fills the heatport chamber to a greater degree and also added to the total mass of the assembly. We find they seem to run a bit hotter although it is hard for us to tell because we seem to make the same vapor no matter what Zap we plug a stem into. They surely do keep on with the heated air longer than the original version with the extra mass in the heatport.
I will call my glass guy today for the status on that project. Any announcements regarding retro fitting an old unit with a new heatport is waiting on glass information.
Our units are a bit over 4 inches tall(4 to 4 1/4"). They run 2 7/16" to 2 9/16" in diameter. With the new larger mass heatport assembly, I am turning them all on the fat side of those dimensions.
That OB Zap BTW is another one of those beachwood Myrtles. Some very nice art in that washed up wood. I do note OB is plenty happy with only the 12 volt transformer. Hmmmmmmm, wonder what that is all about?

So I compared a woodeez to my zap last night and the zap definitely runs hotter with bigger hits. As I said, I cannot imagine using the 13.5. love me the washed up wood.......

Good to hear things are running smoothly in Zapville! :D I'm looking forward to checking out the new heatport with my next Zap as well as seeing some more of the wood Rick has been working with. It will be interesting to compare my current Zap with the new one and see if it indeed runs hotter.

Interesting that your Zap runs hotter than your friend's WDZ, ob. Sounds like you got a really good one! Speaking for myself, I've really gotten quite fond of mine. It's definitely my favorite vape.

We will be looking at five different examples of MZ glass tomorrow. If we like something and the price is right, I will post some pictures, etc late tomorrow.
The good news is they are all Version 2 of the design. Will be a slick removable tip. I have no idea at this point what kind of glass he has done.
