I use the GG with this bowl for my small hits, though i just emailed the powers that be out a thinner wand prototype being made.

You can try and get the basket screen above, and then cut off the brim and fit them into your standard wand.

This reduces the volume of bud and allows you to slide the load closer or further from the heater.

Thanks for the tip. I made a basket screen for my GG wand, and placed it flat side towards the heater and it works great. Very consistent hits for whole sessions, very little stirring required. I'll have to round up some larger screens and make some more up now.

I used the two socket method to size the screens mentioned a few pages back. The screen was not as easy to set as my nano, but it wasn't too bad.

Other than the herb getting closer to the heater, why do you suppose it works so much better?

Cool, but being short on help is not good planning, or a good way to run a business. Me hopes they get their act together.
I agree. I have dealt with 7th Floor quite a bit and had several frustrating events happen. But it appears they are getting their act together now and we have the benefit of having @Herb-nerd on the forum so I'm encouraged to see how they address the service moving forward.

I know they lost their head of customer service (Lyn) when she moved. Lyn was great but they have been spinning since she left.

Like I said, they seem to be getting in track now and they are small like a lot of vaporizer companies so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

The distribution of the plant matter is more uniform in the basket, and the screen separates the side of the botanics from the glass. This means the bud is only touching screen or other bud - not screen , other bud and glass. Though i am unsure if this effect is negligible.

Plus the depth of the load is reduced which allows for a more efficient extraction - just imagine how uneven the vaporization would be if the bowl was 5X longer (it would need A-LOT of stirring), equally if it was 5 times wider and thus 5 times more shallow the bud would vape very evenly and require no stirring.

Avogadro uses the GG wand with the SSV.
This screen between the heat and the botanicals looks like a really good idea.
Is that screen made by Arizer?

Avogadro is not familiar with the "two socket" method.
Will you please expain it a bit?

Measure the screen size diameter you need to fit into your wand (should be around 12mm) and then get a socket the same size. Shove screen into socket with a wooden dowel or bolt to give it the shape of a basket.

You can also drill a hole into a piece of wood if you have drill bits that big.

Right! I found a socket that fit inside the ssv GG wand, then another larger socket that would let the first socket fit inside. Then I lined up a screen slightly larger than the ssv ground glass wand screen, placed the smaller socket on the screen, that is on top the larger socket, and tapped it with a hammer. Wammo, presto. Basket screen. I think the right sized chunk of wood, and a punch would be a better solution.

But the best solution IMHO would be for 7th floor to design a better wand and screen set up, rather than us having to modify our own wands. I'm probably dreaming as 7 th floor is most likely sitting on a few thousand wands that they would have to discount, if a better wand came out. But that leaves the door wide open for the right Entrepreneur.

We are on it!

I am drawing up some stuff to get made in the glass shop for testing.
For now i am going to test a reduced wand diameter and smaller bowl size (same scale as the log stems) with different screen set-ups.

If i can re-seat the heatsink on my GFX card today then i will post some 3D models

If anyone has ideas - post them up here with sketches if possible and we'll see what we can do!

UpTech made a cart to go on their biggest battery that had the ceramic element in it like the SSV. I think they discontinued it, though. Have you guys seen it?

I wouldnt be surprised, the power requirement of a portable convection vaporizer using the same heater type / configuration as the LSV or SSV is rather high as the heating process is inefficient as far as power consumption is concerned.

A quick update - I went ahead and placed an order with 7th floor. Ordered the Oil Concentrate Kit (unfortunately I won't be able to use it until I get to CO in a few weeks). I also ordered some hose and a shorty wand (as the only consumer in the house and a desire to conserve as much as possible - it seemed worth the $20) - I'll post my thoughts after i get a chance to break it in. Might be awhile - been stuck vaping ABV since my 'guy' has been MIA and I have little options in Chicagoland.....

Do report about both the oil k it and the shorty wand! They are both on my list of potential orders.

Hi fellas :) !
I'm a happy owner of an ssv standard wand and heater cover.
I absolutely love it , but summer is coming and i'd love to get some ice/cold vape session.
Instead of using it with the hose, i'd love to manipulate it handeld , a bit like the Vrip-tech wand or the LSV, directly on a bowl, mounted on a small bong.

Does someone knows a glass bowl that would fit the standard heater cover just fine , with a 18 or 14mm joint, allowing to load a descent amount of grass?

I currently have no time to check the 256 pages of this thread , so please forgive me if I missed something :)
Thx

Only place that I know of is JoDa Glass, and he might have stop taking custom orders. Others have reported some success with a cone bowl, but it's hit or miss.

I'm hoping 7th floor will start making some.

I do recommend picking up the LSV though, :brow:

And a JoDa SSV Standard GonG if he still makes them. Maybe get a clear one to make it easier for him.

I hope Puffitup starts carrying them, :)

Highly recommend. Now I want to try a 90 degree SGG male on an LSV WPA, :science:. Maybe that would be easier to acquire if 7th floor will make one. Let me know if you ask them.

Thanks mate!
I'll try to reach him !
That is a nice setup you got there, and , once I get the right bowl, I might experiment something similar with a ceramic solder iron station: I can't invest in glass AND a new vape at the moment .

I'll try to reach 7th floor also to see if they could manage that as well...

7th floor makes an oversized bowl called a standard fatty wand that may meet your needs.

That would be perfect with a 14mm joint right after the green part :ko:

I just use a whip, with an Arizer elbow joint and a basket gauze - massive one hitters that heat really well due to the shape, poximity to the element, and perhaps most importantly, and air tight seal. seriously, try it, I ditched wands years ago :)

@grokit,
@potatobass is looking for a connection with Standard SSV bowl one side, GonG on the other...

I don't know of anything stock that fits that description, but @VaPeD&CoNfUsEd has definitely made a couple of custom ones - I daresay some stock clear SSV bowl to GonG joints might be a good thing for @PuffItUp to discuss with JoDa :)

@potatobass, The VB Mini Wand should fit inside a 14mm female joint.

I used a setup a couple of times for shits n giggles, insert VB mini wand into 14-18 low profile adapter, and youve basically got yourself a mini-wand to 18mm male connection :D

If I am understanding you correctly, I think the LSV WPA should work.

Update: Indeed the SSV Standard heater cover tucks in nicely to the LSV Short WPA. I had to even dial the temp back a tad to avoid entering blackened territory. If I didn't already have an LSV, this would be a viable substitute, although the ssv is a little heavy and awkward to hold.

This is my first attempt at a pic so if it don't work forgive my stupidity,

It's an 18 and although the bowl isn't huge it could be a cheap way to test your idea, can be had for around £4 in a LSH, or free with some black leaf glass.

Edit: ok it worked , a little big but I can work on that.
