About mouthpieces… :science: Bamboo to the rescue for me again! :D I tried a long one at first by connecting two bamboo pieces with some silicone tubing…

but settled to a smaller one (more comfortable handling) with an added fresh air hole in the middle of its length for more turbulence and added cooling!

Very comfortable and cool hits, less draw resistance, what more can I ask? I am content… :smug:

Can't say I am missing my Lotus much… ;)

I'd like to see a clear Vapman mouthpiece. Is this possible with POM plastic?

Nope. POM (AKA Delrin) is opaque, sort of off white typically IIRC. It's usually dyed where it can be seen. The white VM MP is dyed.

Polycarbonate (AKA Lexan, 'Bullet proof glass', like safety glasses) is a contender I think. It's used to armor basement windows and street lights. Plenty clear enough I think? VG stems/mouth pieces are made from the stuff. I don't think the same tools for molding Delrin work with Polycarbonate however?

Guys… You really need to try a stem like this, with the added fresh air hole! It really makes a huge difference in cooling and smoothing the hits! Even the highest heat draws feel like you don't inhale anything, it's really amazing. It's actually the most comfortable hits since I started vaping, even compared to Firefly or Lotus through glass! I know it sounds crazy but that's how it feels. And I don't have a smooth vaping strain either… It was actually quite harsh before that stem! And it's so easy to make! Highly recommended! Please try one. :)

Hey farmer,

I like the simplicity of it and bamboo is my favorite wood. Great job.

It's a DIY mouthpiece adapter that anyone can make.

Do they sell the silicone tubing in the hardware store? I haven't checked.

I guess it depends on the hardware store… :p In Greece I doubt I would ever find any… I had mine from Planetvape in three dimensions, 3ft from each, 2-3 years ago, and still have some of it. :) One size fits inside another and it's very easy to make different adapters.

The vs1 helped me realize what poor torch technique I've been using on the vapman.

When I try to use the torch to extract until the spent herb is a dark chocolate coffee grounds color, this inevitably ends up with a few pieces more blackened than just toasted, let's say some mini-combustion is frequently noticed.

But the vs1 has been delivering consistent results in being able to fully extract and deliver the extraction so it's pleasant to the end and no signs of combustion are visible at all. The vs1 is giving controlled and complete extractions consistently for me.

This led me to realize I've been creating hot spots using the torch to heat the crucible. Sometimes it is due simply to putting the tip of the flame off-center and other times I'll be holding the vapman's axis not in alignment with the direction of the flame so the flame-tip is hitting the bottom of the crucible at an angle and heating one side more and another less.

To get even heating, a rotational technique similar the Lotus' technique works, and definitely upped my game in getting even extraction as well as improvement in controlling the temperatures of the vapman.

So the vs1 has taught me better torch technique to rotate the tip of the flame around the very tip of the crucible to keep from getting hot spots. That tiny rotation is giving all areas of the crucible more even heating such as vs1 does.

Got to Say that after using the Vapman station 1 for a week now it actually has replaced using the torch for now since i haven't put a flame to a vapman in that week. Loving my sessions even more now.

As I use the VS-1 I do have to say it's the best $250 I've spent in years but I see no way that Rene could keep making 'em and not raising the price on the next batch as it seems Selling only a hundred must have left this project still way in the Red when it comes to funding after the years of R&D and the amazingly High quality of the finished product produced.

I'd say that even though it cost me more then 1/4 of my monthly income at the moment(disability sucks) it was worth every penny.

This "accessory" raises the Bar for any currently available vapes pretty high, there is now not a single vape on this forum that's calling out to me in a VAS kinda way (still waiting to see the vapolution 3.0 but now won't be buying one right when it's released).

I can say the more i use the station the more i like it and I'm using it a lot.

I think Rene really came up with a winner here with the vapman station 1 and now can't wait to see what further advances may come with the VS-2 or VS-3.

:peace: ...

I went and bought more acetone. I went with Duplicolor brand from Pep Boys. The back of the bottle said it was chemically pure. I also saw a Rustoleum brand at Walmart - but it didn't say anything about purity, so I passed on it. I came home and did the acetone purity test on a mirror - and damn - it still left visible rings...:bang:....albeit better than the other acetone I got from Sally Beauty. The ring marks are lighter. Once you open it I'm pretty sure you can't return it, so I guess I'll just use it. I also did the test in a glass cup, but it doesn't show as much on glass - I think the mirror is the best way. Now I'm wondering if there is a brand that would leave no rings on a mirror.

Reagent grades (like 'five nines', 99.999%) can do it fairly easily, commercial grades to a lesser degree for sure. The last can I bought (several years ago) was 'OK' but not as clean as before. Not all of what's left is an issue, and by the nature of what we're doing (where you wipe away the surface solvent where most of the dissolved stuff is likely to collect anyway) further lessens exposure.

I suggest you ''settle for reasonably clean" whatever you decide that is, that's what I (and I think we all) do. Consider if you boil down a couple cups of tap water you can get some truly scary stuff there too.

@NorVape

What kind of hydrotube do you use with hash?

With water filtering is it still understandable from taste when combustion starts ?

I do also screen on screen experiments. With hash I think the leakage is not annoying for me but if you put the upper screen on top like the first(not upside down like a cage) the vaping becomes more even maybe because of the touch from both layers. And also not loosening the strings much.

I find some leakage from flowers irritating (stuck in filter holes, some in my mouth, throat) espesially with fine grind. So I put a screen upside down like a cage that acts like a second filter. The drawing resistance is not much less noticable but you can open the bowl before the end, blend, close with the screen again and continue some extra hits without blowing semiburnt particles. After lot of months, i noticed use a little loosening the strings.

If you meant "can you still taste the difference between vaporizing and combusting through water?" yes you definitely can. Vaporized cannabis tastes very differently from combusted cannabis. A fair amount of the "nasties" from combustion get caught up in the water or condense inside the water path but if you are familiar with what vaporized cannabis products taste like it is easy to figure out when you combust.

And yes, fine particulates flowing with the air isn't an uncommon occurrence. You might want to try a slightly coarser grind than what you have now? You also seem to have figured out the other workaround (screen sandwich); good thing screens are cheap huh? I like to take a nice slow first hit so that the trichomes melt and the load turns into a puck. The flavor is pretty damn good too... :smug:

Hey, @gkaraman :)

Yeah, I have also stopped "caging" the hash, in favor of putting the screens in the bowl both facing the same way, for much the same reasons as you.

I use a Pinnacle Pro "inspired" hydratube I got from Sunshinestore on DHGate.com for next to nothing. Works fine, even if it's sliiiightly off, compared to the original. Yes, combustion is always noticeable to me, even through water, and it seems to be for most people around me also :)

@utekai,
So the vs1 has taught me better torch technique to rotate the tip of the flame around the very tip of the crucible to keep from getting hot spots. That tiny rotation is giving all areas of the crucible more even heating such as vs1 does.

This is what I do. Small, tight circles, like you said, so I don't end up heating the wood around the crucible any more than usual.

I observe the same thing: more even extraction.

@RUDE BOY,

It seems that the VS1 is teaching people to fine-tune their torch skills, and this is awesome.

Also, isn't it incredible that the vapman can actually work even better than we thought? I'm impressed.

Someone mentioned that it's like having a log vape with a detachable mouthpiece. This is what I thought it would be. This is a real game changer.

I'll be getting my station soon, so I'll be able to share my experience too.

@bounce5, I agree with OF. Your last acetone should be good enough. I'll test mine with a mirror later in and post a pic, but I bet that I'll see something very similar to you.

@M0J0 Thanks, I appreciate that. It will be interesting to know the results. Perhaps they will be similar, or maybe I just had bad luck. I guess it makes sense that there would be a difference between the scientific lab grade and industrial grade. When I went to Home Depot I did see one acetone that said 100% acetone and something about being more pure - but it was only selling in gallons - too much for me. I would've posted a pic, but it's actually kind of difficult to take a good picture of fine rings on a mirror.

@OF Thanks for mentioning the Reagent grade acetone (99.5% pure). I did not know about that. I looked around and if you live in the contiguous U.S. you can indeed order it. Yes, I've already settled for the my slightly impure acetone. I had already dipped my middle piece for another cleaning when I read your message.

OK, it is as I thought.

A little residue left over. It was not really bad, so I took one with the flash to exaggerate it. You really can't tell that much without the flash, but with the flash it looks horrible.

I wouldn't worry about it though.

Well, at long last, my Vapman arrived this morning!

I have only had it for about 40 mins so far but a few observations:

Bubble hash really takes a long time to vaporize in the vapman when heated by the station using 1 cycle (even at level 6).

However, as others have noted, multiple heat cycles can sometimes be what is required with the station depending on the material you are using. 2 cycles on level 6 got a decent sized hit going on with the same bowl of bubble, which is well and truly spent after a few hits.

Now the big benefit I can see for my having the vapman is that this is a great portable for small hits from a small bowl (I judge bowl size in this case in terms of how much bubble i can press into a thin layer between two concentrate screens so as not to overflow when melting). My other portable (the Mighty) has wayyyyyyyyyy too big of a bowl for bubble even when using concentrate screens. I find that the thinnest layer covering the bottom will reliably send me to bed in the Mighty lol

However, the Vapman seems to take an ideal load (are we still doing phrasing?) of about 1/5 of the size of the smallest layer of the same bubble which you could pack into the Crafty or Mighty! This means much less chance of overdoing your concentrates!

This was a part of my lineup which was sorely lacking til I got a vapman - given that my usual apparatus for ingesting mmj basically entails either the abovementioned oversized Mighty bowl or dumping chunks (D-nail with Pukinbeagle deep dish banger) of crystalline cannabinoids/terps onto an electronically heated quartz bucket (with a dish big enough to fit way more shatter than anyone should ever be dabbing in one go!) which is effortless to use and thus very easy to overdo.

I say this to illustrate that the size of the bowl/dish/receptacle in a vape is very important for psychological reasons - the bigger the bowl, the more inclined we seem to be to serve ourselves a bit more generously. I daresay the same applies to food bowls too!

This is the perfect sized bowl to be able to get a few hits of very relaxing (but not instant sleep inducing) high THC containing concentrate.

I'll come back with more developed thoughts later after I've had time to really put this thing through its paces with my miscellaneous absolute shatters and cbd saps.

So far, so good!

Thanks @vapman!

EDIT: So I threw in about .15 of some ACDC sap (<.02% THC+THCA cumulatively, 80% CBD) and put it onto the station at 4. After 3 cycles, it just didn't seem to produce vapor. So I jacked it up to 6, realized the vapman fit into my 14mm reducer, heated the vapman at 6 on the station for 2 cycles and then hit it on the Luke Wilson rig and WHITEWALL!

There is definitely not going to be adequate heat provided in one cycle for concentrates with the station here, although at high temp one cycle might work for flowers (haven't tried flowers yet).

I'll have to do a milk vid on the LW rig later! :D

Hello Vapmaniacs! I just finished reading all 3780 messages in this thread. I ordered a vapman classic (and vapman lighter) on Saturday night, should arrive Wednesday or Thursday.

I am brand braaaaand new to vaping, and prior to 2 weeks ago, had used marijuana twice. I decided to look into it as a possible aid for various chronic health issues. I've found a strain that seems to help a bit, using a borrowed Extreme Q, and I decided to look for a vaporizer that'd be a good fit for me (the EQ was not). After a lot of reading, I finally realized how tiny the vapman is, and after a bit more reading, I ordered. Then A LOT MORE READING.

Thank you to all of the people who have put so much time into educating newbies and testing out various methods and making awesome mods! I have learned SO MUCH, and I will re-watch the loading and tips/tricks videos as soon as it arrives.

I look forward to getting to know my vapman and the other members here. I'm sure I'll have questions and will be excited to share about my experiences.

First off, howdy! Welcome to the Forum and all the fun. Reading the entire thread is impressive for sure and explains your excellent choice. VM is not the easiest vape to learn for sure, but it's one of the most flexible and a joy to own and use.

I too am looking forward to your getting to know the VM and contributing to the thread, and I know I'm not at all alone in that. This thread has been blessed of late with 'new blood', but you know that too.......

You might come up with a question nobody else has, I don't want to limit you there, but IMO if you paid even modest attention to all those posts you know more than most anyone else around?

You know the tips, no need to repeat them. Just a reminder, though, even though VM is a rock simple vape and extremely reliable a guy needs a backup vape for a host of reasons past insurance. That way, for instance, you have something to loan to a friend you're introducing to vaping......you're sure not going to give up your one and only VM without a fight are you?

Best wishes, get the stash and a can of good gas in order, the fun is at hand.

I've gotta say, the vapman station for bubble seems to need to be left to heat up for a substantially longer time than I thought - I have not been able to get it warm enough for in less than 1.5-2 mins (4 cycles perhaps) with the station at 5.5 or 6.

I am loading 2 concentrate screens in the bottom of the bowl, then a layer of bubble, then 1 screen on top, then the middle/mouthpiece.

Am I loading it wrong?

I try desperately to keep the bubble all in the screens and not on the crucible too, as I understand the bubble melting in the bowl is liable to end in me scraping which is not good for the gold plated finish.

Hash vapman users, please help an enthusiastic newbie out!

Why don't you give it an initial heating with the torch and then continue with the station? Just to get it up to temp… :2c:
Dripping on the crucible is unavoidable but magic eraser works wonders in secs! :science:

I need to find somewhere that sells magic eraser!

I will finish work for the day soon and then get a chance to really try to milk this thing (don't wanna get too medicated while I work lol)! Once I've got it down I'll upload a video. I'd like to use the station only here as this is what I bought it for, but I hope I can find a way to make it heat up more quickly with some more refining of technique ;)

I find magic eraser sponges in any supermarket/grocery store next to the regular kitchen sponges if that helps… :)

I am so torn between what to get first... A Grasshopper for my silent (home) and stealth (outdoors) needs or a VS1 for my silent (home) need (AKA woman sleeping...)?
