The Herbalizer

Semi-new to vaping. Used to own a Volcano back in the day, as well as Arizer Extreme Q and a few others like the MFLB, random vape pens and VaporGenie. The Volcano was probably the best, but still pretty weak. Vaping has always been pretty weak for me unfortunately.

I sold all of those over 2-3 years ago, probably even longer, but recently decided to force myself into vaping because of health reasons. It was an intense battle between Herbalizer and Arizer Solo until I found out about the 420 'panic' sale and crazy 'fight' between the inventor of Herbie and some business men trying to steal everything from him, really really fucked up by the way. The scare of not honoring the 2 year warranty somewhat frightened me because my Volcano actually broke down pretty early in it's life, and man was the Volcano insanely raved over 6-7 years ago... crazy hype.

So I decided to go with the Arizer Solo until I saw the E-nano and just purchased the Premium Walnut E-nano kit with a built-in-screen GonG adapter about an hour ago. I am not regretting anything because I need at least 2 or 3 different vapes for when shit goes wrong and needs servicing. The E-nano really seems like a tool every vape enthusiast should have, so I really am happy with the purchase.

The real question... I really want to make a transition into vaping, actually invest some real money into it to try and force myself to start making better healthy choices for my lungs. I really want to know the advantages of the Herbie. I mean what really makes it worth the nearly $800 price tag?

I've been there with the Volcano, just didn't really research anything and went on hype and am willing to go there again, but this time - with heavy research. I want to know the actual advantages of this herbie vs the E-nano I just bought. Here is what I see so far:
-Herbie has instant heat up, a bag + whip option and 445F max.
-E-nano takes a while to heat up, no bag, whip option and 560F max.
When comparing just that, I really don't see the nearly $600 difference. I don't mind waiting, I don't like bags, I want to use this with my bong/bubbler 100% of the time and it seems whip is only option with the herbie... I'd prefer all glass like the E-nano.

But I'm fairly sure I'm missing something. What I've been reading a lot is that the herbie somehow produces a "top-shelf vapor" at any temperature while, for example, using a Volcano above a certain temperature, 380?, will produce popcorn-like taste. I don't know, but this seems a little too good to be true. I mean, how can that actually be? Aren't both just things that heat up herb to a certain temp?

I'm looking to make a solid investment but my main concern is thick clouds of vapor through glass bongs and bubblers. It seems like Herbie would actually not be ideal for me... but I also feel like ~200 (enano) for something I'm going to be using every day, several times a day, seems a little cheap and too good to be true. It obviously depends on the actual experience once I receive the E-nano, but right now I'm trying to get some input from the community. What do you guys think?

I can't use cannabis at the moment but my Herbie is still on my desk staring at me every day. Yesterday I cracked her open to check out the condensed vapor accumulated in my whip and whip connector lol

Speaking of.....maybe it just me but I just feel that there must be a better way to collect it all rather than washing in ISO and collecting after. I used to just cut open my EQ whip and scrape with a guitar pick lol but I don't have 5 feet of herbie whip lying around so that's not an option right now

This is my new setup as of today to use my whip and have a hemp fiber filter to collect the majority of the honey. This makes using reclaim super easy and should keep my whip much cleaner.

It doesn't sound to me like this is the vape for you. I'd steer you more towards the Evo.

......................................................................................

So for using the reclaim do you just pop the hemp filter into your chamber??
Or do you have to iso soak, evaporate, etc?
Thanks

I think the EVO is more of what you want. You will be happy with the herbie but does require some simple mods to use with glass.

Exactly! My thickest and cloudiest hits are from the first few off a reclaim hemp fiber.

I've owned an e-nano and an EVO. I bought them both looking for milky vapor through glass and they both delivered in their own way. I also have the MiniVAP, and despite some warranty issues, I've fallen in love with it when paired with glass. It doesn't have quite as open of a draw as the EVO, but it milks up the glass easily and packs a punch that I had missed after giving up bong rips. Oh yeah, and it's also portable. You can't beat milky bubbler rips on the porch or out camping by the river!

I also have the Herbie and can't decide if I like the MiniVAP or Herbie better. Herbie is great when you're in a hurry and just need to get medicated. I usually use it through an AquaVape inline water conditioner or through a smaller bubble like the Mobius Atom. It milks up the AquaVape very well and it's not bad with the Atom. With a larger bubbler like a Mobius Ion, I can never fully milk it.

If I use Herbie 8 times in a day and save 8 minutes of warm up time every session, that's an hour saved every day. That adds up and is the main thing I love about the Herbie. It's worth $800 if you use it a lot and place value on your time.

blazedd,
like lazylightning, I love the Herbie and miniVAP as both give superb vapor.
Herbie if want it right now or with a bag of vapor.
miniVAP if you want to maybe start with AC power and then wander a bit.

Lots to think about. Thank you for the great information guys.

From what I read, would you say the Minivap is better in terms replicating a combust bong toke vs the Herbie saving time? The way you said the Herbie can't milk the Ion makes it seem like the Herbie is a bit weaker?

Also does this minivap from eBay look legit?
Just wondering since it's almost $100 cheaper than normal site and free shipping/no tax.

IME, the Herbie just doesn't have as dense vapor as the MiniVAP. The effects are still there but the vapor isn't as concentrated. When I need strong effects and feel like really getting there fast, I usually reach for the MiniVAP. But that is mostly psychological because if I'd been inhaling slightly less concentrated vapor from Herbie instead of waiting for the MiniVAP to warm up, I could have already been medicated.

I think as you spend time on the forum you'll hear a good bit about vaporizer "signatures" and how the effects vary from vape to vape. Also how if you switch vapes, it's almost like reducing your tolerance for a while since the effects are a bit different with each vaporizer. That's a good reason to have both Herbie and MiniVAP IMO

Personally, I'd avoid buying a MiniVAP from eBay. You'll need warranty coverage as some models have issues now and then. You might ask @stickstones when he'll be getting an order of MiniVAPs in. He's the US rep for Hermes who makes that vaporizer and you'll be able to count on good warranty support from him.

Good morning everyone. I'm noticing that as my screens get a little gunked up, extraction seems to be better and clouds seem to be denser. I have to admit, I actually enjoy when the screens AREN'T entirely clean. Does anyone else have a similar experience?

Quite the opposite for me. I've been lazy before and let things 'go' and it's always, in my mind, hindered performance. Screens get burned clean at least every other session, and I'm very anal about brushing the oven clean after each pack. It's borderline obsessive but I'm a bagman and I enjoy my bags FULL.

Lately, I've just been using my finger to get abv out of the bowl after a session. I find the bowl to be fairly maintenance free. I should mention that I've been using a hydratube with my herbie 99% of the time. I never use the bags and very rarely use a whip, but not the stock one. When I notice a significant increase in draw resistance, I switch the screens.

I own both the Evo and the Herbie to name a few.
I enjoy and use them both.
The Herbie is just so easy , precise and fast that it gets used more often.
The evo only comes out on the weekends when time is not so sensitive or when showing friends the power of vaping.
If I had to choose between the two I would choose the Herbie!

I would choose the Herbie over the EVO as well. I've been spoiled by the heat up time of the Herbie. I tend to want to vape every hour or every hour and a half so I want to turn off my EVO. My EVO takes at least 5 minutes with temp on max to get to decent cloud production that my Herbie gets to but 10 minutes is more ideal to have consistent performance. That is a lot of time waiting. I don't really want to power cycle because I feel that leaving it run 24/7 makes the internal glass more prone to breaking.

I do wish I could pick up my Herbie like I can with the EVO. That would make it easier to use with my various glass pieces. I personally find that the Herbie is less prone to popcorn taste out of any vape I tried. I speculate it is because of it mostly being convection instead of convection/conduction.

Has anyone tried a dab with the herbalizer? or any other vaporizer?

I want to actually switch back to bud, but I was just wondering - has any vaporizer been released that actually beats dabbing with nails/quartz buckets? I've tried some cheap pens, my friend's hammer and muad dib, but it just doesn't come close to a true dab. Well actually, that's pretty much vape vs combust.. my bad.

Well then, how does the Herbalizer compare with a rig for dabbing vs other vaporizers?

Actually the Herbalizer works very well with the included concentrate pad. Place a little dab on the pad and crank it up to 445F and you're good to go. Don't get discouraged if your first 2 hits are rather wispy. I've found it takes a couple hits to get Herbie primed and then you will enjoy large clouds of concentrate vapor. That said, it's quite differnt doing concentrates with Herbie versus a nail or any type of oil rig. Your session with Herbie will last much longer maybe 10 or 12 hits and will get you nicely medicated(and very tasty BTW)...On the other hand, with a quality oil rig you can dab the same amount of concentrate in two massive hits and get quite a jolt to the cranium and the head rush that a lot of recreational users seek..

So basically both methods will get you medicated, but it's simply a different experience. What I like about the Herbalizer pad is all the concentrate melts into the pad and when your done there is virtually NO CLEANUP!! Vaporizing concentrate is a very messy process with most vapes(unless you sandwich between herb). IMO, Herbie is one of the best vaporizers for concentrates!!

Additionally, there are many oil pens like the VB Dabbler and Other similar devices. These pens work great, however, the downside is they can be very messy and hard to clean and the coils break in the skillet and need to be replaced often.

Edit: As @stickstones mentioned the VB 2 would be an excellent choice if you're looking for a dab only device....

I'm confused by the lack of vapour density that others are seeing. I easily get thick clouds of vapour and my herbie hits harder than any bong hit. I can apply a small dab of shatter at 430 and it'll produce vapour so thick I can't see through a bag.

The oil pad takes about 15 seconds of fan time to heat up but once it's hot it just keeps producing! It actually becomes counter productive to add a ton of oil as you need air to flow through the pad rather than around it. I've found that adding too much clogs the pad and you don't get much surface area exposed to air.

I have some real trouble imagining that you would need a vape that hits harder than a herbie with a loaded bowl at 430-445

Here is what I don't understand: everyone seems to start their Herbie WAYYYYYYYYYY high on the temp scale. If THCA becomes THC at around 315F or so, how come damn near no one here comes even close to that?

I know generally speaking higher temps = thicker clouds, but does that mean if you aren't basically blasting at the mid 400s that you're only going to see fumes?

All depends on what effects you want!
If I feel like getting high with friends, I start low.
If it is just me and I need to medicate, I don't waste time and just go for MAX temp for the best pain relief I can get.

Each user has their own favorite starting point.
Mine happens to be at the high end of the temp spectrum!

Give it a twist when inserting into the bowl.
This "locks" it into place.

VB2 looks freakin amazing, but I'm not really looking to go full dab again, lol. Was just wondering if there had been some real progress in concentrate vapors, which holy crap - there sure has been... man that VB2 is sooooo nice!

Pulled the trigger on e-nano sunday night but decided to get the cloud evo just earlier today around noon.
It was still on the $360 sale price and also used another coupon code to take away shipping/tax, total came around 370 or so. Pretty damn excited.

Would have pulled the trigger on the herbalizer too, but they have an all sales final deal. I'm not planning on returning either the nano or cloud, because I still need at least 1 backup, but at least I have the option to do so with both, 7 days for nano and 30 for cloud. And who knows, after all the great reviews and research, one or both still may not meet my needs... at least I have that option to return them, but not the herbalizer. Got to at least try it out once in person to drop 800 bucks perm.

Thank you everyone for the great opinions and information. I have been wanting to make the switch back to vaping for a while now and I am now really confident that at least one, if not both, of these vapes are perfect for my needs.
