I'll be ordering an 8 & herc sr74x this week and picking up 2 18350 AW IMRs. But for 18650's, what is preferred, AW IMR 18650 1600mAH or AW IMR 18650 2000mAH ?
The specs are a little off on W9 website.

The 1600 has a max discharge rate of 24A
The 2000 has a max discharge rate of 10A

The 1600 is overall a better battery, just slightly less capacity. The 1600 also hits harder for longer, IMO.

@wax

depends on what you want I find my Persei and Hercules to be the absolute best for taste and performance and you can tailor your hits to any size you want I'd say it's as conservative as you choose it to be I've made a gram last weeks or burn through a gram in a few days of heavy use and lots of sharing

Aw has raised the amp rating for the 2000 to 35 if I'm not mistaken, as for the 1600 I have to update once I confirm with Aw

THC SCIENTIFIC,
Need a brushed SS omicron w/ 1-2mm larger diameter to power the KISS alpha centauri...

The 8micron, or Omicron Infin8, or something... but a brushed SS that sits flush with the KISS alpha would be fly.

So Ican't vspe oils ig I buy just the persei ti ?I would have to get the Hercules as well ?I'm just confused by all these parts and everything. Hope someone could simply ever thing for me

wax,
@wax It comes with a Ti KISS cartridge, which is Load as you Go, or 1 hit at a time. You can technically load 0.1-0.3g, but I find that it works best for me to saturate the coil first, then add 1 hit, or about 0.05g, each time I want a hit. This works great for having a couple hits loaded in separate carts (they weigh nothing, are small, and the price has dropped considerably on them lately), but not so great for reloading in public. For a longer outing, or vaping at home, the hercules gives more consistent hits, holds more, and the parts are sort of reversed (KISS is wire heater wrapped around ceramic wick; Hercules is a ceramic heating element, w/ crumpled up wire acting as a "wick" to hold your oil near it).

The KiSS Alpha Centauri was just released, and it's sort of in the middle between those two options, though it would be ok to think of as a gussied up version of the KISS cartridge -- it combines the globe and cartridge style into one unit, and upgrades the coils. It's still a step below the Hercules, but is capable of working on your current o-phos. If you've only tried the standard o-phos cartridge and haven't picked up a globe, it would certainly be a huge step up, without requiring a whole new battery unit. Actually, even just the standard $15 globe made a big difference for me; the tricks I tried to employ with the KISS carts to get reproducible results just weren't as effective for me as being able to see my vapor. I would stand in front of a mirror and feather the button once I saw vapor forming in the globe, and I could get huge clouds without burning my oil, finally.

Hercules is 7.4v standard (there is a 3.7v heating element, but I don't know a lot about it) and requires 2 AW 18350 batteries (just one battery for 3.7v). The hercules sr-71 heats up faster, and costs $70, instead of $100. It's hidden away in the clearance/sale category on the website. The current gen 74x is easier to service than the 71, holds a little less oil, and heats a little slower. When using mostly to fully charged batteries in my Persei, I get great hits off the Hercules just using the crappy tricks I tried using with the KISS carts (like counting seconds of hit and cool-down) to great success. The hits are usually a nice temp the first couple times, so I have not run it through water, but I'm told water greatly improves your ability to use it properly when first learning, and reduces the temp on those later hits, so you can take more in a sitting.

If you went from a KISS cart (o-phos) to a hercules, just getting one hit at a time won't be an issue (at least, wasn't for me - it gives satisfying, monster rips like combusting from a bong IMO), but the visual feedback one of the nibbler XL's gives must be nice when first learning.

Narcivapism: The state of being uncomfortable taking a hit if not in front of a mirror.

I suffer this as well, but it really changed my vaping experience, one of my primary reasons for always wanting a water tool. I will be a Centauri man.

The single and double coils are dooooope. Donut is a donut. I was like, "Maybe I'm using the wick wrong" the last time I used my globe donut w/ wick. So I tried the wick in the 1701. I think the wick is just not for me at 3.7v. Without trying it, I still dunno about the 7.4v, I'll try a donut wick one more time. I <3 the recently released globe donut without its wick, so I'm sure the 1701 will be comparable (went back to 7.4v coils, cause they're kickin ass). The coils have yet to burn my oil, despite my inability to tell wtf is going on inside the normal cartridge style housing of the KISS AC. I bet with the globe I'd be having a crazy time. Btw, if I didn't mention it previously, 1701 does not readily fit in the okeanos. Other 2 coils fit great.

@THC SCIENTIFIC I see that the kiss ac is available with 510 threads. Can it be used on a vv battery like the istick 30w. When will black Perseis be back in stock? If i decide to place an order can i just pick it up, i'm local. Will the ac give me thick milky clouds?

The hammer top is a different top for the Persei it has a different switch that you press once and it stays on until you press it again or it turns off after 2 minutes

It was originally designed to be used with the bender dry herb chamber but many users report better performance with the Hercules as well

Well, after 2 days of playing with the KISS AC off and on, with no globe, I can say for certain that the coils are an immense upgrade. As a cart system, the ability to switch between 3.7 and 7.4v on the fly is amazing. Big ups, G.

If you are like me and prefer the 7.4v KISS Ti carts more than the 3.7v, but wish they had black ceramic... You're in for a treat. It takes longer to reach full temp (about a full second, compared to KISS Ti's 0.5sec), but I managed to get good rips and not burn my oil, even without being able to look in on it. It looks like the wire used for the new coils is a thicker gauge, besides having significantly more wraps.

I noticed that since there's more metal involved in the coil, it takes more short cycles to rid fresh heaters of their metallic smell. I always dry fire a little before the first use so I don't come away thinking my heater tastes shitty, but these took significantly longer, especially the dual coil. While doing this, the base got INSANELY HOT. I mean, I know the Alpha Centauri has a 2 part heat shield on the cartridge, but JESUS did it get toasty. I could have branded myself if I wasn't careful. Of course, in regular use, you won't run it like that, but I was a bit surprised.

Getting amped to try the 7.4v donut, now! I love the clean flavor the 3.7 delivers.

I'm a little surprised that the globe and the metal case both screw on, since I would have expected something like
would allow you to slip whichever type cover you wanted to use on, and would negate threading issues like I had with mine. It sounds like all the new stuff coming out from w9 is designed to work together, so maybe some upcoming project will need to thread on to the AC?

I just treated it like all my previous wire-based carts -- even the carts (with ceramic wick) that say not to dry fire were recommended to me to be dry fired, since I don't like the taste/smell that fresh Ti gives off. I had previously gotten the a-ok to dry fire my KISS carts from Gary, but didn't think to ask about these separately.

I didn't explode or shoot my eye out, if that helps.

Sweet I have to wait til tomorrow to get my AC because USPS didn't even attempt to knock on my doorbell or have me sign, and instead just left a notice in the mail box unit for all of the apartments at the end of the street. Holy FUCK I cannot stand USPS
