The Mighty/Mighty+ by Storz & Bickel

Hey guys, I'm trying to decide between a Mighty or the Crafty and was hoping I could get some help. I vape at home for the most part but when I'm out I carry a backpack and often vape with friends. I'm leaning towards the mighty right now since portability isn't a huge deal since I usually have my backpack and the extra battery life would be good! But I was thinking I could grab the backup battery for the crafty and get relatively the same battery life and have the option to take the crafty out by itself if I don't have my backpack... Price between them isn't a big deal I just want whats best... What do you guys think? Help me pick I've read most of both threads and have been going back and forth for weeks! Thanks in advance!
I posted this on the crafty thread as well to try to get their opinion over there, hopefully thats ok with the mods.

I had the same questions/concerns about the Mighty and Crafty when I was in the buying process. I thought the Crafty for portability and pair it with a battery to compare to the might. However, when I was comparing the heat-up times. I like that the Mighty had half the time for heat-up. Also, the constant stress on the Crafty's battery was not appealing to me. I'd rather have the Mighty with a strong and long lasting battery. Me gets me through two to three days of moderate use. Four to five moderate length sessions a day typically. I have had my Mighty now for about three weeks and would not trade it for any other vaporizer. I have had a fe of the popular units and this is by far the best. I even put my Volcano away after I started using my mighty. :-/

Yeah the heat up time is big for me too, especially when coming from a MFLB! And I agree its 50 bucks to replace the battery and I feel like I would be doing that every few months with the amount of discharges I would be putting that thing through! I have to buy new batterys for the Launch Box now as well but it is considerably cheaper! And thats a real vote of confidence! Thank you sir!

Still loving my Mighty after a week of use. I'm using it mostly as a multisession vape, where I take some hits, turn it off, take a few more draws to get remaining vapor and cool down the chamber, then leave it alone until the next session. I know everyone says this is inefficient but I gotta tell ya, compared to my previous vape I'm still getting 2-3x as much mileage out of the same amount of herb, even using this less-than-optimal method.

I can't believe I'm not even using this thing correctly and still getting so much goodness out of my weed. And man that ABV is so uniformly browned, without any trace of combustion (not a single black bit at all), and without ever stirring it once. The ABV on my old whip style vape was never this uniform; it would always be mostly brown with bits of green and black, where material was not getting vaped or was getting lightly combusted. With the Mighty it's all a uniform beautiful chocolate brown.

With that said, next time I'll try vaping a light load and using the liquid pad like others have suggested.

I broke all my top fins on my first unit with pressure from carrying the device in a jacket and on the 2nd mighty from putting the CU on the heater when not "aligned" 100% to the body... The opened CU in a 90' degree angle can easily brake those fins by rocking it backwards and forwards just very slightly.

I have only one broken fin on my crafty so far when I tried to remove the sealing around the bowl first time :bang: . To defend myself, I didn't expect breaking a S&B unit is even possible since I had the volcano in my hands first time.

just broke the plastic thing too.

i think this is such a shitty quality vape for the price. the only thing thats so "great"about it is the high power output. they know their vapes are the only handheld vapes that do can output so much power, so they price up on their product. there is absolutely nothing ingenious about the design of this thing. it's just an aluminum heater that heats air and two batteries on the side. its a a complete rip off! it's great vape. just not worth the extra 200 people pay for it.

Do you always vape at high 210 (425F)? I have found that some plastics get brittle at high temps. I wonder why they are breaking? Neither my 1st unit nor my current, 2nd unit have had fin problems, but I very seldom use temps above 400F.

Yeah but it's good and s&b returns policy is good so surely no worries? 200 more than what?

I can feel your pain. Vape a bowl, it will go away. I was so angry first time this happened to me, I instantly bought a MV. No need to tell you I still stick to the Mighty after the heater of my Minivap failed. I bought it for 500€...
Apparently the pax 2 is "worth" it's money. WakeAndVape did really abuse his pax1 and it still works!

I meant to say they overcharged the consumer 200 extra dollars. It seems like it's 3d printed durable plastic. But plastic is plastic and it is very cheap. And the design for what it's worth is displeasingly simple . I don't know why other vapes don't use 30 watts output to heat up herb. Idk imo storz and bickle ripping off a lot of peeps. A company just released a flying drone that captures videos and has motion sensors. And the market value of that is $500. When I'm paying 400 bux for a vaporizer I want it to be on the same level of ingenuousness as a video recording/ motion detecting flying drone

I think the breaking plastic problems might be due to natural variance in the injection molding process. When they run a batch of enclosures there will be "outliers" usually at the beginning or end of the batch. This could manifest in thinner plastic or flaws invisible to the human eye. I know my first Crafty had many little fins break before the enclosure failed completely above the bowl. FWIW every Crafty and Mighty I have received since then has not had a single break of any kind.

We get it. You're not impressed. You've made your point, but you cannot continue to bash S&B as we have a rule against company bashing.

I just bought a new unit and organised with my retailer to send the original unit back for a full refund after I have received the replacement. I am going to be out of pocket $500 for a few weeks but it seems like a good result.

I really hope they completely redesign the casings so that we don't have these problems in future.

Just got the mighty, haven't used it yet but it feels awesome in hand. It's definitely smaller than my iPhone 6 plus but like 4 times as thick. Can't wait to use it. Serial number starts with MY01 does that mean anything? Lol

I ussually finish at 410F for a few hits. And I've had mine since march. I use it every day for multiple loads and my fins are like new. <<<knocks on wood>>>
That is the one great aspect of V.A.S.: if a vape needs servicing, you always have numerous back-ups on hand....

It's this damn site! I had my volcano since 09, an i was perfectly happy until I started lurking, then joining here. Now, I'm at four vapes and counting. Three this year, after I joined. And boxes of assessaries, including two glass pieces. Maybe we should be going to meetings or something.

Just picked up a Mighty today from my local headshop. Does anybody else have problems with the shutoff timer? it feels as if mine does not respond to me taking a puff. It always turns off after 1 min even when i hit it.

The Mighty shuts off a minute after reaching temp. But if you keep it from reaching temp by inhaling (which cools down the load), you can keep it going a long time.

@ean - your gonna have to hit that thing to take it down 4 or 5 degrees F to reset the timer if its like the first one I had.

And then there are freak shows like me, that can drop it 15c like it's nothing! I was able to try out many toys yesterday thanks to my hombre @lazylathe including the VHW, Firefly, and Pax2, and although they were fun, and the VHW has the best flavour out of any vape i've ever used, I still went back to my Mighty last night and simply couldn't get the smile off of my face. Most vapes have their niche and purpose to do one or two things really well. Well, I think that the Mighty can do alot more things really well and overall is the best package for my use. I just love cranking it to max, filling a bowl right up, and using the SonG adapter to milk up my water tool to full fat milk!

Try a steady 10 second pull...that shit will drop!
I am returning my second unit as the casing has cracked so badly that it is impossible to know if you are getting a chunk of plastic in the oven or not. It's definitely a massive design flaw.
I need to send my mighty in for replacement, it gets err 004 when vaping at high temps and it dropped two feet and almost broke in half...might as well send it in before it goes to shit! How long does the process take?

@Michel your right, my pax did suffer abuse and still worked, I even dropped my pax2 super hard on the ground and just got a couple minor blemishes...the mighty would have been fucked...just a shame it costs so much, but isn't that durable!
